The Distinct Vision Of
Is to Provide a Classical Curriculum in a Diocesan School
Of the hundreds of growing classical schools in America, only around a dozen are Catholic, diocesan schools.
Grounded in the Sacramental Life of the Church
Every school day begins with Mass. Weekly time spent in
Eucharistic Adoration and frequent Reconciliation
further assist students in living their faith.
Dedicated to Assisting Families
Our ministry is devoted to supporting parents as the primary educators of their children. We offer full-time instruction
to children in preschool through 9th grade and will be building out the high school, one year at a time, graduating
the first class in 2019. We also offer part-time opportunities to homeschooled students in 1st-12th grade
through the Classical Enrichment Courses (C.E.C.) program.
Independent of State and Federal Funding
To ensure our ability to faithfully pursue our mission, we
do not accept one penny of state or federal funding.
With a Vision for Transforming The Culture
An education centered on truth, goodness, and beauty
prepares students for their individual vocations and for the
universal call to sanctity. Growing in grace and understanding, their words and deeds will evangelize our culture.
Pre-K through 9th grade.

to Sacred Heart Academy’s presentation of Fiddler on the Roof. We are very blessed by your patronage and support for this magnificent performance. We are grateful for the time, energy, and love of all those who have supported our students through encouragement, prop gathering, set building, costume making, line practicing, and, and, and . . . THANK YOU! A very special thanks to Ms. Anding. Her courage to listen to the Spirit and return to Sacred Heart this year was a blessing to us all. We will miss her as she begins to follow the next call to His service with the National Evangelization Team over the next couple of years. God Bless You, Morgan. The SHA Drama program will continue next year. Bringing words to life in a powerful and compelling way complements all we are trying to accomplish at Sacred Heart. The impact of participation by our students in theater cannot be overstated. George Weigel, in his biography of Pope Saint John Paul II, Witness to Hope, wrote the following about the influence of the saint’s participation in theater: “Theater, for Wojtyla, was also an experience of community, the self-disciplined action of a group of individuals who, by blending their individual talents with the talents of others, become something more than the sum of their parts. And the intensity of the theatrical vocation . . . was, perhaps, the beginning of other intuitions to be pursued later. If drama could unveil the deeper dimensions of the truth of things, might there be a dramatic structure to every human life? To the whole of reality?” We look forward next year to continuing to pursue the deeper dimensions of Truth as students combine their talents to tell stories of Goodness and create Beauty that is greater than the sum of its parts. You can never have enough Truth, Goodness, or Beauty. We look forward to your continued support of this pursuit.

Good Day!
Words cannot express my excitement as Sacred Heart Academy presents their FIRST EVER Musical Production! And what a production it has been! Building from the ground up, everyone truly had to be on board to make this happen. And they were! I am so proud of all the students - I have seen them light up, and come alive as they have grown and pushed themselves during rehearsal! Even those that have had no experience in theatre or in music have kicked into gear and blown me away by their effort!
Fiddler on the Roof was the first show I performed in high school. This is why it holds such a close place to my heart. I am nothing but THRILLED to see it come alive on the stage again, and to be on the other side of things this time!
It has been nothing but a pleasure to create this show, and to make it a reality with the cast and crew. It is a dream come true, and honestly a dream I did not think would ever happen: to direct a show! I am putting into practice my greatest passion and seeing others fall in love with it as well! God is good.
Enjoy the timeless story of Tevye and his daughters, as so charmingly presented by the 5th-12th graders from Sacred Heart Classical Academy!

Sacred Heart Academy has broadened it’s horizons this year in beginning it’s first ever Theatre Arts Program!! Fiddler on the Roof Junior has blazed a trail for the program to be the first in a long line of future shows the students at the Academy will star in. This is a very exciting development for our school, as the Arts and Drama are two major aspects of an integral Classical education. What a gift to be able to implement this subject into our curriculum, and to spearhead the development of these skills in the students for the coming years!
the story
Set in the little village of Anatevka in turn of the century Russia, Fiddler on the Roof Junior is the classic tale of Tevye the Dairyman, and his struggle to hold onto tradition in the face of a changing world. The beginning of the twentieth century was a time of great upheaval and change in Russia. It was the eve of what is known as the Russian Revolutionary period. The small Jewish villages that peppered Russia were subjected to unspeakable horrors. Such social and political unrest is the backdrop for the story that is the heart of Fiddler on the Roof Junior. As Tevye’s commitment to his family, religion and the tradition that created them is tested, we see the rich love and moral dedication that holds it all together. Based on the short stories of Sholom Aleichem, who the New York Times called,”...the warm-hearted spokesman of the poor Jews in the Russian villages at the turn of the century.” Fiddler in the Roof opened in 1964, starring Zero Mostel, to rave reviews and a long Broadway run, before being made into a major motion picture.

about our director
Ms. Morgan Anding has been with us as a teacher for 3 years now. Graduating from Franciscan University of Steubenville with her degree in Catechetics and Theology in 2011, she joined our team as a Teacher’s Aid in 4th and 5th grade in the 2012-2013 school year. She was our 3rd and 4th grade teacher last year, and after deciding to venture forth to pursue further studies in Theatre in Chicago, she discerned that her place was still at Sacred Heart. Morgan has been in theater all her life, starring and performing in multiple shows at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, some of those including the recent “Christmas Carol” and “Mary Poppins.” Building the Theatre Arts Program from the ground up has been a fulfilled dream and an unexpected one for her this year. She is thrilled with the experience!
about our assistant director
Miss Mary-Kate Lietz is the assistant directress in our Montessori classroom. She is currently going through her Montessori 3-6 training at the Adrian Dominican Montessori
Teacher Education Institute. She has also had two years experience in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Miss Lietz has been involved in music, specifically piano, for fourteen years and for the last nine years has been involved in various styles of dance, including ballroom, Irish, and swing. She is the second youngest of eight children, and is very blessed to have grown up in a very strong and faithful Catholic home. Miss Lietz has greatly appreciated and enjoyed this time working with the students on “Fiddler on the Roof.”
“This has been a wonderful experience getting to know all of the students, and helping them grow in their Faith through their curricular activities. I look forward to what next year brings!” Miss Mary-Kate Lietz
