Comment - Include Trillium and other native plants in new landscapingResponse - We are incorporating a scheme of native plants and cultivars throughout the corridor and will include Trillium in some locations where it is appropriate. Develop a list of succession plants for LO Staff to plant in future as plantings mature.

Comment - Interest in safety for pedestrians and a suggestion to use plantings between sidewalk and road as a buffer. Response - We will be using plantings in the furnishing zone to provide a feeling of separation between the pedestrian and vehicular zones. There will be long stretches of planter strips with trees and plants where possible. The bike lane also helps to provide separation.

Comment - A suggestion to incorporate the skyline of firs into streetscape.Response - We are anticipating including some large iconic evergreens into some locations in the median to enhance the feeling of being “in the firs” that exists in Lake Grove. Another location may be at an expanded sidewalk area.

Comment - An interest in the streetscape feeling more like “gardenscape”.Response - The design will feature a natural layering of a variety of plants. Expanded sidewalk areas may showcase special plants with seasonal features and fragarance.

Comment - (Biodiversity Idea) Landscaping should feel natural and use native plants.Response - The plan will integrate many native and native-ish plant species.

Comment - Preserve the existing fir trees that grow around the commercial areas and connect them with stormwater bioswales and plantings.Response - Existing fir trees will be preseved as much as possible, but many will be removed due to the road widening. New coniferous evergreen trees are proposed for planting areas large enough to allow them.

Native / Natural + Farm / CultivatedThrough our previous planting discussions, we had decided on a planting scheme that is a hybrid of the native and cultivated feeling planting arrangements. This will be characterized by somewhat natural plant groupings, some deciduous and grassy character, but also a finer texture and perennial display in some places.

Median and SidewalksWe will have a planted median with a somewhat wild character, and sidewalk/furnishing zone plantings that also desire to have a wild character. We will do our best to achieve this quality in the sidewalk, but the constrained space will make things a bit more cramped.

Upland and Lowland Both the Median and Sidewalk areas will have both stormwater and non-stormwater conditions. We will select plants that work for either condition, or find plants with similar characteristics that are adapted to one or the other.

Pedestrian Areas and Pearls Locations with pedestrian crossings or gathering spaces will have a more gardenlike and manicured quality.

Iconic Trees The group seemed receptive to the idea of large iconic evergreen trees in the median. We are discussing potential options.

Identity - The plantings in Lake Grove should be just as good, but distinctly different than the plantings in the east end of L.O. Use the landscape theme to support distinct character of the area. Incorporate iconic trees.

Naturalistic - The planting character of Lake Grove should have a wild character to it. Lots of lush plantings with varied texture in groupings that don’t look too regimented. No rows, hedges or large blocks of plantings. Use mostly native plants, but add in other things to compliment natives where needed.

Moments of gardenlike quality - Locations where pedestrains may linger or frequently pass should have more of a kept quality to them. They should include plantings with showy flowers, color, texture and scent. Plantings should have a finer scale to them for people to appreciate. They should act as an attractor where appropriate.

Seasonality - There should be a pronounced color change in the planting scheme. Deciduous trees and shrubs should still display bark color and texture during the winter.

Color - Many of the plants we are suggesting have reddish/orangish exfoliating bark. We can enhance the feeling of warmth in the corridor by selecting varieties of perennials that have warm colored blooms of white, yellow, orange and red. This color scheme will work with the bark, and deciduous fall color to create a cohesive feeling in planting the corridor throughout the year.

Texture - A variety of planting textures will be mixed throughout the project. The median will have the largest variety of grasses, perennials and evergreen shrubs and trees. Some grasses and perennials may be left in place to overwinter after they have gone dormant. The L.O. landscape crew is knowledgeable about what to remove and has indicated they will manage the median as necessary to look best.

Character Plants - We have selected a few character plants to be used throughout the corridor to help define the planting feeling and give a sense of cohesion throughout the corridor.

SpecificationsAPPLICATIONS:The CXF15 is the perfect LED solution for decorative street lighting and is the ideal luminaire for both new and retrofit installations. Other application locations include: residentialstreets, city streets, campuses and parking lots. The performance, energy savings, and uniformity of this luminaire make it an ideal pendant LED solution.

CONSTRUCTION:Containing no mercury or other hazardous chemicals, the CXF15 is fully recyclable. The housing is constructed of low copper die-cast aluminum and 0.090" thick spun aluminum.The hinged lens frame is cast aluminum with a stainless steel spring latch for tool-less lamp access. All non-ferrous fasteners prevent corrosion and ensure longer life. Mountingoptions include side arm, top arm and wall mount.

LED SPECIFICATIONS:Refer to IES files for energy consumption and delivered lumens for each option. Based on in-situ thermal testing and data from Philips Lumileds and Philips Advance, fixture canbe expected to reach 65,000 hours (at >L70 lumen maintenance @ 25°C). The Philips LEDGINE uses Philips Lumileds LEDs. Color temperatures available are ANSI Bin4000KCCT. Four distributions are available including Type 2, 3, 4 and 5.

ELECTRONIC DRIVER:The driver included in the LEDGINE Pendants is the Philips Advance XITANIUM LED driver. Standard driver offers 0-10V dimming capability and universal voltage input from120-277VAC or 347-480VAC. 32 LED options are not available with 0-10V dimming or 347-480V. Input frequency is 50-60Hz and all XITANIUM drivers are RoHS compliant. Thedriver has <3kV surge suppression built in, 10kV is an additional option.

The 1521LED Omega series is small scale, decorative downlight fixture with a spun aluminum bell styled dome. The dome is available with two types of shades: round edge (R) and flared edge (F) styles. The luminaire measures 21” outside diameter and 17-1/8” overall height. The luminaire has a hinged door for tool-less driver and LED access. The luminaire is supplied with the line-ground, line neutral and neutral-ground electrical surge protection in accordance with IEEE/ANSE C62.41.2 guidelines. The luminaire is U.L. or E.T.L. listed in U.S. and Canada.

SpecificationsAPPLICATIONS:The CXF4 is the perfect LED solution for decorative street lighting and is the ideal luminaire for both new and retrofit installations. Other application locations include: residentialstreets, city streets, campuses and parking lots. The performance, energy savings, and uniformity of this luminaire make it an ideal pendant LED solution.

CONSTRUCTION:Containing no mercury or other hazardous chemicals, the CXF4 is fully recyclable. The housing is constructed of low copper die-cast aluminum and 0.090" thick spun aluminum.The hinged lens frame is cast aluminum with a stainless steel spring latch for tool-less lamp access. All non-ferrous fasteners prevent corrosion and ensure longer life. Mountingoptions include side arm, top arm and wall mount.

LED SPECIFICATIONS:Refer to IES files for energy consumption and delivered lumens for each option. Based on in-situ thermal testing and data from Philips Lumileds and Philips Advance, fixture canbe expected to reach 65,000 hours (at >L70 lumen maintenance @ 25°C). The Philips LEDGINE uses Philips Lumileds LEDs. Color temperatures available are ANSI Bin4000KCCT. Four distributions are available including Type 2, 3, 4 and 5.

ELECTRONIC DRIVER:The driver included in the LEDGINE Pendants is the Philips Advance XITANIUM LED driver. Standard driver offers 0-10V dimming capability and universal voltage input from120-277VAC or 347-480VAC. 32 LED options are not available with 0-10V dimming or 347-480V. Input frequency is 50-60Hz and all XITANIUM drivers are RoHS compliant. Thedriver has <3kV surge suppression built in, 10kV is an additional option.
