Four Basic Parts of a Lesson Plan

1. Preparation – How will you prepare the students for the lesson?

2. Presentation – What key concepts will you teach students?

3. Application – What will students do with the material they learned?

4. Evaluation – How will you ensure that your objectives were accomplished?

Let’s begin!

• Choose any lesson topic that you teach in your discipline

• Write three objectives for that lesson

• Make the objectives as simple or complex as you wish; however, be sure to apply Mager’s rules

• Brainstorm how you will plan to include the four parts of the lesson plan

Lesson Presentations

• Design a lesson in your discipline.

• Develop a lesson plan using the OSU Lesson Plan template.

• Deliver a 20 minute lesson to your peers on Aug. 7 and 8.

• Half of the group will present Aug. 7, and the other half will present Aug. 8.
