Pizza di Forno-Informare Oliverio’s Restaurant was founded by Shirley and the Late Sonny Oliverio in 1965, in Bridgeport, WV. The original restaurant was very small, seating only 25 guests. The menu consisted of timeless, yet deli- cious foods like hot dogs, ice cream, pizza, and later on our famous Steak Hoagie. The first establishment was fittingly named “Sonny’s”. Sonny and Shirley made many changes to Sonny’s Restaurant over the next 20 years. Adding more seating, more menu items, and even more family to go with their growing family run business. By 1977 they had six kids and a booming restaurant with many happy and satisfied customers (many of which still dine with us today). Sonny’s Restaurant became so popular, that it expanded again in 1980 only to meet it’s doom when a fire destroyed it in 1988. The decision was made to re- build the family business and the entire building was renovated, which took about five months. When the new restaurant opened, everything was changed. The new concept was called Oliverio’s Ristorante, and a new menu was launched, serving the ever popular Breadsticks and House Italian Salad still a favorite of our customers today. Twelve years later, in 2001, Oliverio’s opened it’s second location in Morgantown’s Historic Wharf District. The 6,000 square foot ware- house which was once Coca-Cola bottling (and later became WV Paper Co.) was transformed into a charming Italian eatery with a cozy atmo- sphere and big city feel. Oliverio’s on the Wharf quickly became a local favorite. It was designed by the late Peter Oliverio, Jr., architect and old- est son of Sonny and Shirley. He visualized the beauty and charm of this historic building, creating the setting in which his parent’s lifelong work and dreams would be carried on. Most recently, the family has opened a second location in Morgantown, Oliverio’s Marketplace. This smaller, more casual dining location offers a quick and casual way to enjoy all of the Oliverio’s favorites for lunch, dinner, or take home. Within every Oliverio’s Restaurant location you are sure to find hard work, dedication, and a sense of family in all that we do.
