The Female Entrepreneur Summit (FES) awarded over $50,000 to leading female entrepreneurs since its inception in 2012. This year, its founder has reached out to her personal and professional network to receive donations from local professionals and businesses to support the 2020 FES Pitch Competition.
Renée DeLuca Dolan founded the FES in 2012 as a platform for female entrepreneurs to network, inspire and grow. As a female entrepreneur herself, Renée has been a successful founder since 1996, starting Contemporary Design Group, Inc. in 2001, now Contempo Design + Communications, after a career in Corporate America.
Who we are
FES PITCH COMPETITION will award two cash prizes to winner and runner-up and offer an opportunity to benefit from the founders’ professional network and expertise.
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
> Unique idea in a technology, consumer/ packaged goods, select service business
> Company must be owned and operated by a female entrepreneur
> Growing addressable market of at least $500 million
> At least $50,000 in annual revenue or at least 6 months of customer data
> Succinct strategy of how this award will enable/contribute to transformational growth
> Business must be located in one of the 18 counties in Northeast Ohio
> FIRST PLACE: $20,000 SECOND PLACE: $5,000

DONOR INFORMATION:DONATION AMOUNTS: $1,000 - $5,000
CARES ACT EXPANDED TAX DEDUCTIONS FOR CHARITABLE GIVING:Individuals can elect to deduct donations up to 100% of their 2020 AGI, up from 60% of AGI in prior years.
FISCAL SPONSOR:Geauga Growth Partnership (GGP), a mission-aligned non-profit with robust entrepreneurship programming, will accept the donations and prepare tax documents for the donors.
IMPORTANT DATES:9/16: SUBMISSIONS OPEN THROUGH 10/510/7: SIX FINALISTS ANNOUNCED10/21: VIRTUAL PITCH/DONOR JUDGING 10/28: FES PITCH WINNERS ANNOUNCED
DONOR DETAILS:Each donor gets one vote per $1,000 donation
All submissions will be received and vetted by the founding committee and advisors; donors will receive pitch decks for the final 6 on or before October 19.
If none of the submissions meet the pitch criteria outlined, donations will be returned.
The funds can be committed anytime prior to the event and submitted to GGP by OCTOBER 20TH to be held until the date of Pitch Competition.

DONOR FAQ’SHOW MUCH DO I CONTRIBUTE?Between $1,000- $5,000
HOW DO I GET PROOF OF DONATION BEING TAX DEDUCTIBLE?All donations will be submitted to and held by Geauga Growth Partnership, a public non-for-profit; GGP will send out thank you letters confirming the tax deductible gift within 10 days of receiving it.
HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION IS TAX DEDUCTIBLE? 100%
WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT CHARITABLE GIFT TAX LAW IN 2020 (DUE TO CARES ACT/COVID-19 RELIEF)?Individuals can elect to deduct donations up to 100% of their 2020 AGI, up from 60% of AGI in prior years.

WHERE DO COMPETITORS COME FROM?NEO entrepreneurship programs: JumpStart, Great Lakes Innovation Fund, January Ventures, Plug and Play investment and service portfolios; as well as broader entrepreneurial community.
WHO VETS THEM?NEO entrepreneurship programs (JS, GLIDE, etc) have rigorous diligence processes to be accepted for funding or services in their portfolios.
All applications will be submitted to the FES portal and then vetted by FES founders and advisory committee consisting of several experienced entrepreneurs and investors.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT THE WINNER DOES WITH THE PROCEEDS? Winners will be required to give quarterly progress updates for 12 months after Pitch Competition
WHEN DO I NEED TO SEND IN MY DONATION?• Letter of intent will need to be signed upon commitment
• All donations will need to be received by October 20
