PERMACULTURE DESIGN CERTIFICATE

TARANAKI 2019-2020 This Permaculture Design Certificate is 13 days over an 8 month period. To receive your Certificate you need to attend all days. Or, you can attend any days you are interested in, without receiving a certificate.

Interactive & Practical: Learning through a mixture of lessons, activities, group discussions, and hands-on projects to build peoples’ practical skills, enhance learning, and have fun!

Tutors: Kama Burwell is the coordinator & lead tutor for the course. She is a professional permaculture designer and ecological engineer, has over 15 years experience as an educator, and is a Permaculture In NZ (PiNZ)affiliated teacher.

Kama has worked on countless land-based permaculture projects since 2002 such as gardens, lifestyle blocks, farms, schools, community gardens, & a resource recovery centre. Kama is also passionate about community-based & “invisible” permaculture: she was instrumental in setting up the Farmers Market in New Plymouth; has established an interest-free financial cooperative; and is currently working on a suburban co-housing project.

A number of other tutors with specialty expertise teach on the course: see overleaf for details.

Venue: Most of the program will be held at the Egmont Village Community Centre and at the GreenBridge base in Omata, with field trips to several local sites.

Time: Each day starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm.

Meals: Morning & afternoon tea are provided. Bring a dish for a shared potluck lunch.

Course fee for Certificate participants: $95 per day = $1235 for whole course

Weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payments are welcome. Course fee includes notes and a 1 year PiNZ membership.

A scholarship is available for a participant who would genuinely be unable to participate otherwise.

Course fee for non-Certificate participants: $130 per day
