With 160 years of experience, ISP serves over 6000customers in more than 90 countries. Our customersrepresent a wide variety of industries includingpersonal care; pharmaceuticals and oral care; foodand beverage; coatings and adhesives; alginates;household, industrial and institutional cleaning;and agriculture. Our success is the result of innova-tive products, a strong research and developmentprogram, excellent customer service, and goodrelationships.

Our commitment to service is based on an in-depthunderstanding of customers’ needs and our abilityto quickly translate that knowledge into new orimproved products. Our dedicated technologycenters on four continents were established toprovide the highest standard of service. Whether acustomer needs an entirely new chemistry or anenhanced ingredient for an established product,ISP’s scientists at 60 locations around the worldprovide innovative solutions.

Our ability to serve customers is further strength-ened through collaborations with market leadersthat offer complementary chemistries and products. We are continually seeking relationships that willbroaden our capabilities, so that ISP’s customerswill have access to a comprehensive range of themost advanced products available to significantlyaccelerate their time-to-market.

In 2003, we acquired Germinal S.A., a Brazil-basedcompany that supplies the meat and dairy industry. In 2004, we announced the acquisition of RedCarnation Gums, a UK-based global gum ingredientsupplier. These two additions to the ISP familyrepresent a key step in increasing our ability toserve customers in the food industry.

As part of our ongoing efforts to expand ourbusiness in Europe, we acquired Germany-basedBiochema Schwaben, which has over 50 yearsexperience developing and manufacturing pre-servatives and biocides. The company’s array ofquality biocides complements ISP’s existing productline in this area.

Another European acquisition that increases ourrange of personal care ingredients is UK-basedHallcrest. The company is a leading manufacturer ofmicroencapsulation and thermochromic ingredients.

In Asia, we have entered into a distribution agree-ment with Mingtai Chemical of Taiwan. Throughthis arrangement we are able to increase ouroffering of cellulose ingredients for food andpharmaceutical applications.

We continue to focus on acquiring businesses thatserve the industries in which we operate. In addi-tion to growth in Europe and Asia we are assessingother regions and markets around the world toexplore further opportunities for investment.

Improving Performance Through Innovation

ISP employs over 200 professionals at its researchand development and technical facilities through-out the Americas, Europe and Asia. We have accel-erated our investment in R&D to help our customerssolve the variety of challenges they face whendeveloping new products and formulations.

Reflecting our commitment to new productdevelopment, we have launched a global com-mercialization process called ISP Gateway. Ratherthan following a linear sequence in the develop-ment of new products, Gateway employs across-functional team concept. The outcome is ashorter development cycle time and higherprobability of both technical and business success.

We are now introducing new products faster thanever, across a range of markets.

Hair & Skin Care

Escalol® HP-610 was the first truly functional hairprotectant against UV sunlight.
