President’s Message My theme for 2015-2017 is “People, Plants and Projects”
People—Our most cherished assets in AFGC are the wonderful
people we are so fortunate to call our members. We must excite and
involve the ones we have and encourage new members with new
talents and ideas to join our ranks.
Plants—As Arizona residents we can play an immense role in the
increased use of low water use plants, as well as encourage good
gardening practices and design. We are perfect choices for helping
create and maintain public areas that demonstrate these applications.
Projects—I want to support projects at the State level that will invite
the participation of many members. National Garden Clubs is
extending two projects that are near and dear to many of our
members, Crown Bees and the Monarch Watch Program. The NGC
President’s Special Projects committee has exciting tools to help
clubs be successful with projects for bees, butterflies, frogs, and
leadership development. At the same time, I want to offer my
assistance to any club contemplating any new project. Smaller clubs
may want to join hands in creating a memorial project. The
possibilities are endless with a little vision.
My hope is that the next two years are filled with fun activities, great
new projects and enthusiasm galore. We are planning to offer the
NGC Landscape Design Courses in Arizona for the first time in over
twenty years. A great team is helping me to accomplish our goals
and it will no doubt be a great term of office with something special
available for everyone.

To provide education, resources and networking opportunities; to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and environmental responsibility to members and the public.
We are a group of gardeners who have organized on local, state, national and international levels. Nearly thirty local clubs make up the Arizona Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.
We Work Together to Share:
Our love of gardening and design
Our concern for conservation of our natural resources
Our desire to educate our youth about gardening and the natural world
Our commitment to better our communities through civic projects
We promote the love and knowledge of gardening through speakers, conferences, schools and scholarships such as:
Flower Show Schools, Symposia, horticulture/natural resources scholarships for Arizona college students and many youth programs.
Partner with a wide range of local, state and national organizations to support and actively participate in community projects.
Emphasize good conservation practices including wise water use, in planning community projects and our own landscapes.
Use of appropriate plants is of the highest priority, such that neither rare nor invasive species are used in plantings or designs.
