”The Way” - El Camino de Santiago. Starting on May 18th, our parishioner Oscar Lombardi will attempt to complete the pilgrimage to the Holy City of Santiago de Compostela for a second time. This time he will walk the northern route which goes along the northern coast of Spain for 300 miles and then turns towards the mountains and Santiago for the last 200 miles. Oscar will be keeping a blog of his daily experiences which you are welcome to check. The blog’s address is Ultreyaoscar.blogspot.com. “Buen Camino!”

Due to the recent vandalism issue where one of church doors with stain glass was broken, we are tak-ing steps to lock the rear doors to the church Monday - Friday following the 8:00 am mass. These doors will still be available for exit. Parishioners are encouraged to use the front doors for entry and exit during the weekdays.
St. Lucy Prayer Shawl Ministry will be meeting on Wednesday, June 11th at 11 am in the PAC room “C”.

Catechists (Teachers) for Faith Formation and Liturgical Ministers Needed
Do you love sharing your Catholic Christian faith with others? Do you enjoy working with kids or adults? Have you ever wondered about being a religious education teacher or a liturgical minister? Come and find out what it’s all about and see if it’s a fit for you. Prior experience teaching children is a plus, but no degree is required, just a heart that is open and committed to knowing, loving, and serving Christ. Join us on Saturday, June 28th, from 8:30am to 12noon, to discover if your gifts fit this ministry and how they may be best put to use in enriching our Catholic faith community. Vacation Bible Camp Request!
Do you have a large flat screen TV that we can bor-row? We have 30 pre-school & Kinder children who will be watching some amazing Christian videos, songs, and more. We’d like it to be on a TV large enough for them to watch it. Our current largest screen is only 22inches wide. We would need it from June 23 – June 27. It will be safely secured at night. RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
At last! The power hinted at and the Spirit promised are unleashed on this holy day. We call it the birthday of the church. Try to listen to today’s scripture passages with some sense of how electrifying these events must have been to those who lived through them. Up until now, they have been waiting in the upper room. In today’s first reading, that room is filled with wind and fire and bold proclamations in foreign tongues.
In the second reading, Paul describes the Pentecost event, too. His description includes all of us. The Spirit lives on in the church in each of us who are members of the Body of Christ, given different gifts from the same Spirit. Only after Pentecost could the apostles look back and under-stand what Jesus meant when he said, as reported in today’s Gospel reading, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Queridos Feligreses, Debido al problema de vandalismo reciente en el que una de las puertas de la iglesia con cristal fue rota, esta-mos tomando medidas para cerrar las puertas traseras de la iglesia de Lunes a Viernes después de la Misa de las 8:00 am. Petición para el Campamento de Verano : ¿Usted tiene un televisor de pantalla plana que podemos pe-dir prestado? Contamos con 30 niños preescolares y Kínder que van a ver algunos videos cristianas, can-ciones y mucho más. Nos gustaría que fuera en un televisor lo suficientemente grande como para que lo puedan ver. Nuestra pantalla más grande actual es sólo de 22 pulgadas. RECIBAN EL ESPÍRITU SANTO
¡Al fin! El poder que les había sugerido y el Espíritu que les prometió, sólo se libera este día. Lo llamamos el cumpleaños de la Iglesia. Trata de leer los pasajes de la Es-critura de hoy con algún sentido de lo extraordinario que esos hechos debieron ser pa-ra los que los vivieron. Los dejamos la semana pasada esperando en la habitación del piso de arriba. En la lectura de la primera lectura, la habitación se llena de fuego, viento y audaces proclamaciones en lenguas extranjeras.
En la segunda lectura, Pablo describe el acontecimiento de Pentecostés, también. Su descripción incluye a todos nosotros. El Espíritu vive en la Iglesia en cada uno de nosotros que somos miem-bros del Cuerpo de Cristo, con diferentes dones pero el mismo Espíritu. Sólo después de Pentecostés pu-dieron los apóstoles mirar el pasado y entender el significado de lo que Jesús quiso decirles cuando expresó lo que nos cuenta el Evangelio de hoy: “Reciban el Espíritu Santo”.
