Santa lives at the North Pole... JESUS is everywhere. Santa rides in a sleigh... JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year... JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies... JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited... JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa... JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap... JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, what's your name?"... JESUS knew our name before we were born. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

WHY JESUS IS BETTER

7 http://www.theriveroflifeumc.com

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly... JESUS has a heart full of love

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO... JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry"... JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."

Santa's little helpers make toys... JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but... JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree... JESUS became our gift and died on a tree.

It is obvious there is really no comparison. We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about. We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas,

JESUS IS STILL THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. YES! JESUS IS BETTER!!!! HE IS EVEN BETTER THAN SANTA CLAUS! God bless your CHIRSTmas. Cathy

(Heard on WFEN Radio, Christmas 1999) Submitted by Mary Alice Harris)

THAN SANTA CLAUS

Every month The Current publishes the total of our Loose Coins giving for the previous month and the recipient. Our collective spare change can add up to an impressive sum, often more than $300, for that mission cause.

Have you ever wondered how it’s decided what group gets the mission collections? It’s one of the roles of the Mission Committee to determine every fall how the next year’s monthly Loose Coins will be disbursed. We thought you’d like to see an overview of our Loose Coins giving for the past 12 months. December 2015 $250.52 God’s Fund January 2016 $340.47 Philip and Timothy Stains Orphanage, India February 2016 $259.14 UMCOR March 2016 $242.33 Meals on Wheels April 2016 $243.74 Caritas May 2016 $351.19 Conference In-Gathering June 2016 $250.32 Youth Mission Trip July 2016 $329.07 16:49 Holly’s Kids August 2016 $285.58 Missionary Paul Webster September 2016 $246.15 God’s Fund October 2016 $ 364.25 Hands of Faith November 2016 $332.85 Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign

TOTAL $3,495.61 As you can see, some of the funds support mission work from our local church (God’s Fund and the Youth Mission Trip), while some of it goes to local agencies serving those in need and some goes to national and international church missions.

We collected $3,495.61 for these worthy causes. And that’s not even counting the giving for special appeals and UMW and youth fundraisers. We are a generous congregation, as God calls us to be. When we all pitch in and give a little extra, we can make an amazing difference serving God’s people!

Thank you to the Stewardship Committee and Bonnie Moore for all the work they did on this year's campaign.

Thank you to the Decorating Committee for purchasing the new furniture in the High School Youth Room. Keep in mind this was designed as a multi-purpose space so if you need a more intimate setting than Fellowship Hall you might consider this space.

Thank you to everyone who turned out for the Hanging of the Greens at both locations.
