The YouthConnekt Africa Summit is an annual convening that connects youth from across the continent and beyond with policy influencers, political leaders, public/private and development sector institutions to engage, discuss, design, and accelerate youth empowerment efforts at the continent level. Every year the summit creates a platform for a larger number of young people from all over the world to learn and engage in YouthConnekt Africa’s youth development programs.

YouthConnekt Africa Summit provides a platform for all partners involved in youth development to synergize around policies, programs and partnerships that will connect youth for continental transformation.

Participation in the YCA 2021 is by registration via https://www.youthconnektafrica2021.org/. ONLY registered persons will have access to participate in the Summit. Registrations are not transferrable to proxy participants. Participants upon successful completion of their registration process will receive the outcome of their application via email within three (3) to five (5) working days from the date the application was submitted. Unsuccessful applicants would be dully notified. If you require further assistance, please contact the Summit Organizing Committee via email: [email protected], or call: +233 24 372 5382 or +233 20 686 0333 during office hours from Monday to Friday (9:00hrs to 17:00hrs, GMT).

The Summit will be hosted at the Accra International Conference Centre and its associated facilities.

SUMMIT VENUES

PARTICIPATION AND REGISTRATION

Once at the summit venue, you will be given a summit badge starting 19th October. You will be requested to show your passport for international participants and National ID card for local participants, at the registration desk to receive your badge. Please note that you have to wear your identification badge at all times during meetings in order to access the venue and the meeting rooms, and to facilitate identification, security and contact with other participants and members of the Secretariat.

Exhibitors who would like to exhibit their projects, wares or products must register for that purpose. Please register as an exhibitor at: https://register.youthconnektafrica2021.org/register/participant-type. For further enquiries, please write to [email protected]

The working languages of YCA2021 will be English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. Fluency in one of the working languages is required for participation. Kindly note that Interpretation will be provided between English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

WORKING LANGUAGE

International travel arrangements and costs will be the sole responsibility of each delegate. The Summit Organising Committee do not provide any financial assistance for delegates but will issue a formal invitation letter to delegates upon successful completion of their registration process to facilitate the application of entry visas.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS

The organizers will provide internet access at the venues of the Summit. Details will be communicated to delegates on arrival. Should you decide that you will need a Sim Card for off-site internet access, kindly get a SIM CARD at the Kotoka International Airport upon arrival.

INTERNET CONNECTION ON SITE & SIM CARD

All international flights to Accra, will arrive at the Kotoka International Airport. The Summit Organizing Committee will arrange pick-up and drop-off for all international delegates who arrive on the set arrival date, 18th & 19th October 2021 and departure, 23rd and 24th October 2021. International participants who arrive before or after these stated dates will cater for their own transportation costs.

Local delegates should make their own arrangements to get to the Conference Venue, Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

The Summit Organizing Committee will issue formal invitation letters to participants upon successful completion of their registration process, to facilitate the application of Entry visas in instances where they are needed as a requirement to enter Ghana. You can present this official letter together with any additional accreditation documents to the Embassy of the host country if you are applying for an entry visa, or get a Visa on arrival.

The below visa fees regime is applicable where a participant is NOT exempted from visa fees. Kindly check with the Ghanaian Embassy in your country for guidelines for entry visa requirements to enter Ghana. You may also visit the official website: https://home.gis.gov.gh/permits-and-visas/.

MEALS

Vaccination against yellow fever is compulsory and should be shown at the Kotoka International Airport. If yellow fever vaccination is contra-indicated for medical reasons, a letter of medical exemption is necessary.

COVID-19 TEST Proof of COVID-19 Test is a strict requirement. Please be sure to have in your possession, your test results which must be at least three days (72 Hours) old as at the time of travelling.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Participants are advised to bring their regular prescribed medication for health care during the conference. Participants should take normal precautions against malaria. In case of emergency, the Local OrganizingCommittee will call an ambulance to take the delegate to the nearest hospital.

MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

Ghana, (officially the Republic of Ghana), is a country in West Africa. It spans the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean to the south, sharing borders with the Ivory Coast in the west, Burkina Faso in the north, and Togo in the east. Ghana covers an area of 238,535 square kilometers. With over 31 million people, Ghana is the second-most populous country in West Africa, after Nigeria. The capital and largest city is Accra; other major cities include Kumasi, Tamale, and Sekondi-Takoradi. There are a great number of places to visit and things to see. Ghana's Time zone is GMT+00.

SECURITY IN GHANA Ghana is fairly safe compared to other countries, and as long as new arrivals familiarise themselves with relevant issues and take the necessary safety precautions, they should enjoy a safe stay. Violent crime rates are relatively low and petty crime can often be avoided simply by being vigilant.

Although Ghana is a very peaceful and secure country, as an international participant, you should be vigilant at all times and follow any security advice given by the organizers of the conference. Do not leave your bags, cell phones or laptops unattended, also avoid carrying large amounts of cash. You must carry a form of ID with you at all times. A copy of your passport is normally acceptable.

The currency in Ghana is the Ghana Cedi. The official exchange rate is currently 1 USD = 6.04 GHS. In the Banks the exchange fee is often higher. It is also possible to pay by credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard) in many places. You can withdraw money with credit and debit cards at the numerous cash machines of the banks.

The average minimum temperature (usually the minimum temperature is noted during the night) in Accra in October is 22.0°C (71.6°F). The amount of rain in October is normal with an average of 62mm (2.4in).The average maximum daytime temperature lies around 30.0°C (86°F).

In Ghana, the power sockets are of type G and D. Plug type G is the plug which has three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern and type D is the plug which has three round pins in a triangular pattern. Type G is more com-monly in use. Check out the following pictures:
