Introduction

• Common thinking today “I would not commit such a sin but if others do it that’s their business.”

• Implication is, as long as we don’t commit these sins, there is no way we can share or partake of these sins of others

• In relation to others’ sins, we try to be neutral to avoid offending others

3

Introduction

• But the Scriptures teach we must not only seek to avoid sinning ourselves but must avoid partaking of others’ sins

• While each individual is accountable to the Lord, we also can be guilty of sharing, partaking, in others’ sins whether we actually commit the same sins or not

• Some ways we partake in others’ sins

1Co 8:9 But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.

1Co 8:11 For through your knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died.

1Co 8:12 And so, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.

1Co 8:13 Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble.

Approving Corrupt Elders

1Ti 5:17 The elders who rule well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.

1Ti 5:18 For the Scripture says, "YOU SHALL NOT MUZZLE THE OX WHILE HE IS THRESHING," and "The laborer is worthy of his wages."
