4. The area of the aerodrome
The implementation of Ferihegy airport, the predecessor of Budapest
Liszt Ferenc International Airport, was commenced in 1938 with the
aim of establishing a new airport for the capital. The area between
three settlements (Pestszentlrinc, Rákoshegy, and Vecsés) was
designated for the development, and the airport was handed over on
7 May 1950.
As a result of developments completed since then, a complex of
facilities that can serve international civil aviation at a high
level of quality has been evolving on 1505 hectares, featuring two
runways, passenger terminals, and ground service as well as
maintenance facilities.
In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ferenc
Liszt, the airport was renamed Liszt Ferenc International Airport
in 2011.
Address of the airport:
4.1 Distance of the aerodrome from residential areas
Terminal 1 located at a distance of 16 kilometers from the city
center serves general aviation and cargo traffic. Further to the
east, at 22 kilometers, Terminal 2 is accommodating passenger
flights.

4.4.6. Pre-flight altimeter checkpoint location:
Currently no pre-flight altimeter checkpoint location is
implemented or defined for the aerodrome.
4.4.7. VOR aerodrome checkpoint (VOR beacons):
Two VOR/DME checkpoints are provided at the airport, with the
required pavement markings and information signs.
VOR Checkpoint-1: On the centerline of taxiway B5 BUD VOR 117.3

VOR Checkpoint-2: On the centerline of taxiway A9 BUD VOR 117.3
MHz; 133° (2.4NM)
4.4.8. Aerodrome light beacon:
4.4.9. Penetrations of the aerodrome obstacle limitation
surfaces:
BUD maintains the required obstacle-free conditions in its area of
competence. BUD complies with all ICAO and/or EASA CS regulating
obstacle limitation surfaces. Evidence of the obstacle limitation
surfaces is provided in CS ADR-DSN.H. BUD’s primary tasks include
the continuous monitoring, removal, prevention, and marking, if
necessary, of obstacles, while fulfilling its obligation to provide
information thereof.
BUD’s control and monitoring system includes the following:
Taxiways, taxi lanes, and stands Runway strip
Clearway Runway end safety area
Take-off climb surfaces Approach surfaces
Transitional surfaces Inner horizontal surfaces
Conical surface Outer horizontal surface
For detailed procedures of maintaining obstacle-free conditions
observed by BUD see AM E 18.

Radio altimeter operating areas were designated before the
thresholds of runways 13L, 13R, 31L, and 31R, directly connected to
them, of a length of 300 meters, and of 30-meter width
symmetrically measured from the extended runway centerlines (60
meters in total).
Since these areas are fully located within the RESA, their layout
and maintenance support the requirements of operation of radio
altimeters.
If a change of conditions of operation affects air traffic in the
movement area (e.g. construction areas, weather conditions, or
other operational action), flight crews are notified thereof via an
ATIS or a NOTAM as
per the procedures referred to in AM E 7.
4.4.12. Information on the taxiway system:
Runways and aircraft parking areas are connected by a network of
taxiways including rapid exit taxiways (RETs), apron taxiways, and
aircraft stand taxi lanes.
Due to the layout of aprons, apron taxi lanes are provided
thereon.
In the table below, the currently valid declared taxiway data are
presented. These data are revised and clarified in the course of
the CS ADR-DSN.D.240 DAAD measure.
