Christian discipleship is difficult and demanding. When I was in the seminary, I truly faced this question on my first retreat during Theology. I fully realized that to accept the call of a priest meant I would need to leave my past, family, and all things of the world in order to serve the church. I almost left the seminary because I did not want to leave everything for this faith mission. I clearly remember the deep emotion I felt: sadness, loss, anger, disappointment, and fear. However, finally on the second evening of the retreat I chose to give my life over for the disposal of the Lord and I was given relief. This did not mean an elimination of what I was feeling but rather a confidence that the Lord was with me and I was truly committed to His divine plan. Since then, I continually struggle to remind myself of what I chose to manifest that choice each day.
However, Christian discipleship is not unique to a priest or religious but is the exact same call for those who marry. In the same way, a couple joining in marriage is called fourth by God to renounce their life as an individual so that they may be joined to the other in mutual loving support and to be completely open to the Lords guidance in raising the next generation in love. A marriage chosen is the abandonment of self in order to live communally in the family. “That is why a man leaves his father and moth-er and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body.” (Genesis 2:24)
At the core of Christian discipleship and the suc-cess of the Church is radical commitment to God. Jesus was radically committed to the Father and His divine plan of salvation which brought him to the cross and the sacri-fice of salvation. The martyrs committed themselves to Jesus and it cost them their lives and they experienced many horrific forms of death. The saints committed themselves to Christ and it cost them the pleasures and respect of the world.

El discipulado cristiano es difícil y exigente. Cuan-do estuve en el seminario, realmente me enfrenté a esta pregunta sobre mi primer retiro mientras estudiaba teo-logía. Me di cuenta plenamente de que aceptar el llama-do de un sacerdote significaba que tendría que dejar mi pasado, mi familia y todas las cosas del mundo para servir a la iglesia. Casi dejo el seminario porque no quería de-jarlo todo para esta misión de fe. Recuerdo claramente la profunda emoción que sentí: tristeza, pérdida, ira, decep-ción y miedo. Sin embargo, finalmente, en la segunda noche del retiro, elegí entregar mi vida para la disposición del Señor y se me dio alivio. Esto no significaba una eli-minación de lo que estaba sintiendo, sino más bien una confianza en que el Señor estaba conmigo y estaba ver-daderamente comprometido con Su plan divino. Desde entonces, me cuesta continuamente recordarme a mí mismo de lo que elegí y para manifestar esa elección ca-da día.
Sin embargo, el discipulado cristiano no es exclu-sivo de un sacerdote o religioso, sino que es exactamente el mismo llamado para aquellos que se casan. De la mis-ma manera, una pareja que se une en al matrimonio es llamada por Dios a renunciar a su vida como individuo para que puedan unirse con al otro en apoyo amoroso mutuo y estar completamente abiertos a la dirección del Señor para estar criando la próxima generación en amor. Un matrimonio elegido es el abandono con el fin de que pueden vivir comunalmente en la familia. "Por eso deja el hombre a su padre y a su madre y se use a su mujer, y se hacen una sola carne." (Génesis 2:24)
En el núcleo del discipulado cristiano y el éxito de la Iglesia es un compromiso radical con Dios. Jesús esta-ba radicalmente comprometido con el Padre y Su plan divino de salvación que lo llevó a la cruz y al sacrificio de la salvación. Los mártires se comprometieron con Jesús y les costó la vida y ellos experimentaron muchas formas horribles de muerte. Los santos se comprometieron con Cristo y les costó los placeres y el respeto del mundo.

A New Ministry - A New Opportunity to Serve Sunday Morning Childcare ~ Will you help us provide childcare on Sunday mornings?
Goal: To Create a Sunday Childcare Ministry for Children ages 2 to 5 Our ultimate goal is to have child care available on Sundays from 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM. Child care would be available during Faith Formation (CCD) and during the 9:00 and 11:00 AM Masses. This depends on the number of volunteers we can recruit for this ministry.
As you can see, we have an ambitious goal and will need to build this ministry in stages.
Stage 1: Recruit volunteers for childcare during Faith Formation (CCD) classes thus freeing parents for family catechesis.
Stage 2: Extend childcare for all parents during the 9:00 and 11:00 AM Masses. Seek funding and donations for the Childcare environment.

SAN LORENZO RUIZ MASS
Corpus Christi Catholic Church is hosting the annual dioce-san celebration of San Lorenzo Ruiz, the first Filipino saint, on Saturday, September 28. Novena Prayers and Rosary begin at 9 am, and Mass at 10 am. Bishop McElroy will be the main celebrant. The event is sponsored by the Diocesan Commission for Filipino Catholics. ATTENTION: WOMEN'S RETREAT ATTENDEES
Hello lovely St. Stephen Retreat Ladies,
I was privileged to be a part of your retreat weekend, playing the keyboard and singing harmonies for all the worship mu-
sic throughout the weekend. I am Aly’s youngest sister and I graduated from Franciscan University this past May with a
Biology Degree. The Lord has put on my heart in a very
deep way the call to pause my own plans and to serve inner city teens this next year and help bring hope to the hope-
less. Physical poverty has led to spiritual poverty in the in-
ner city, and Vagabond Missions’ goal is to bring Christ to the streets. The teens we serve come from extreme broken-
ness, with mothers who, due to their own struggles and ad-dictions, don’t pass on the message of a hopeful future to
their children and instead continue the cycle of infidelity,
drugs, and violence. Their hearts are beautiful, but unlike the retreat we just shared, they haven’t had the opportunity
to experience the Father’s love and know their worth in a life changing way. Here is a video of a testimony from a former
teen who, through his encounter with Vagabond Missions,
