Governor’s Voluntary Pre-K Program Claiborne County received monies for
3 more Pre-K classrooms
K-8 schools- 8 out of 9 have 21st CLC after school programs
Cumberland Gap High has a 21st CLC, Claiborne High has a LEAPS Grant (Lottery for Education after School
Programs)
Supplemental Education Services (SES Grant) at TNT serves 40 students in a one-
on-one tutoring model; 38 out of 40 students became Proficient or Advanced
All schools are currently using the results of a Family Friendly Survey to
enhance their school/home/parental involvement programs
The Claiborne County School System, in conjunction with Clinch Powell Educational
Cooperative, participates in an Attendance Incentive Program which consists of a new care give-away to
a senior in the 5 county region.
Through collaboration with Clinch Powell Head start, the school system preschool program and the CP Head start
Program have implemented the Scott Foreman Pre-K Literacy Curriculum in all preschool classrooms in our
county
We have an Early Childhood Council which includes school system preschool providers head start
preschool providers, head start preschool providers and local daycare programs. The Early Childhood
Literacy Council provides Literacy Toolboxes (big plastic tubs filled with quality children’s books, nursery rhyme charts and CD’s, large knob puzzles, magnetic letters of he alphabet, etc.) which circulate
among the daycare providers on a rotating basis. The Early Childhood Literacy Council meets quarterly to
provide staff development for all of our preschool providers, a well as serve as a support network.
Both high schools are in their second year of implementation of Credit Recovery Classes which
allows high school students who failed a course using Plato computer software
We are working with Walters State Community College on an initiative involving our high
school math teachers to improve ACT scores
We are referring adults to the Tennessee Technology Center for additional training.
We now have Literacy Leaders at 6 out of 7 of our elementary schools. The
Literacy Leaders work with the classroom teachers as a Reading Coach to help the
teachers provide quality reading instruction based on scientific research
best practices.
Clairfield Elementary is participating in a State
Improvement Grant (SIG) to enhance literacy instruction in
grades 4-8.
H.Y. Livesay was recognized as a National Core Knowledge School
and alsoReceived a Tennessee Academic
Achievement Award for excellence.
All of our professional staff are “Highly Qualified” according to
NCLB criteria

Undoubtedly, the future poses numerous circumstances for
which strong, ethical leadership is essential. Therefore, the
following five specific themes will be discussed.
• Democratic System and Business. A basic understanding of profit, competitive Democratic System and Business.
