Expect snow, ice, and verglas in varying degrees from here on out. Two weather events over the past week

left behind significant amounts of frozen precipitation on the OS. This frozen precipitation will not melt off

completely the rest of the year as temperatures above 11,000 feet remain in the 30's & 40's throughout the

day. Be especially watchful for verglas in shaded areas and anywhere you see melt-water running over rock.

Owen-Spalding as seen from the enclosure. Dry conditions.

Dry conditions on the Owen-Spalding. No ice axe needed above the Lower Saddle or to access the south ridge

routes. OS rappel (100') seen just left of center in the cleft of the skyline.

Ice Axe recommended for getting to the upper saddle. Snow and Ice can be avoided for the

upper portion of the climb.

Owen-Spalding Routes. Much of the rock on the routes is dry, however patches of hard snow and

occasionally ice linger in chimneys, ledges, and cracks. Ice axe and crampons are also recommended to access

the Lower Saddle from the Meadows.
