Location• Tramin is located in the region of Trentino Alto-Adige.• It is in the heart of Alto Adige in the town of Termeno on the south side of the Alps.• It is situated in the south of South Tyrol on the east-facing slopes of the Roen mountain. • Vineyards are planted on a continuous slope reaching from 820 to 2,800 feet elevation. • The climate is affected by the nearby warm Lake of Kaltern and the Mediterranean to the

south. • In summer the heat is tempered by a strong wind called the ‘Ora’ which picks up in the early

afternoon from Lake Garda and stops suddenly after sunset.• The soil is an ideal combination of clay, gravel, limestone and porphyry.

Location

• The winery itself is located on the Wine Route (Strada di Vino/Weinstrasse) in the commune of Termeno — or Tramin in German.

• Approximately 37 acres of Tramin’s vineyards are currently cultivated using organic and biodynamic principles.

• The winery has 290 growers and 620 acres of vineyards.

History

• South Tyrol’s third-oldest cellar both founded and owned by winegrowers.• In the 1898 Christian Schrott, parish priest of Tramin and deputy of Austrian

Parliament, decided to found the Wine Producers’ Cooperative of Tramin, one of the first to appear in this zone.

• The owners of the winery are the 290 growers who farm vineyards in the sub-zones of Termeno, Ora, Montagna and Egna – this area, nearly 620 acres in total, is the cradle of the Gewürztraminer grape.

• The grapes are supplied by member-growers from small, family-owned farms. • Under the guidance of Willi Sturz, they have built up its profile by working on the

excellence of its aromatic white wines.

History• Leo Tiefenthaler is the President; Stephan Dezini serves as the Administrative Director; the

Technical Director and Winemaker is Willi Stürz; and Wolfgang Klotz is the Marketing & Sales Director.

• The winery produces an average of 1.5 million bottles per year; approximately 75% of production is for the Italian market, and the remaining 25% is for export.

• Cantina Tramin operates along the entire value chain: production, vinification and distribution are handled internally.

• Tramin operates on a human scale with a farmer-to-land ratio similar to that of a small estate, allowing for delicate hand-harvesting.

• With 12 Tre Bicchieri-award winning wines to date, Tramin also boasts the talent of Willi Stürz, named Gambero Rosso’s “Winemaker of the Year” in 2004.

History

• A unique architectural landmark that blends in among its natural surroundings was designed for Cantina Tramin’s new headquarters in 2010, combining a modern structure with the original cellar. When viewed from outside, the building is striking for its curves, while the interior is a well-planned winery with dedicated areas for cellar workers and visiting wine enthusiasts.

• Designed by leading Italian architect Tscholl Werner, the building is located on the exact footprint of the original cellar so as not to sacrifice any land from the surrounding vineyards.

Philosophy

• Its aim is to valorize the vocation of the territory, to manage viticulture and winemaking with great respect for the natural rhythms of the vine and wine and finally to carefully distribute both nationally and internationally through the support of prestigious commercial partners.

The Logo• Words such as ‘rhythm’,’ pause’, ‘silence’, ‘listening’, ‘impalpability’, and

‘evanescence’ have inspired the creation of a sign composed of five elements hinted at, like the five senses.

• The lines should express the sensation we have when tasting wines. • The sensation of the scent and flavors, which come and go to be with all

their expression and power.• When we taste, we believe to have found a certain scent, but then, all of a

sudden, it disappears and then finally we got it. The power of that certain scent then seems to get smaller, as we start to focus on a new scent.

Winemaking

• The Tramin Cellars produce two ranges of wines:1. The prestige range (Proprietary Blends)

• Wines made from grapes grown in the very finest sites, mainly single grape though also blends, with the emphasis on excellent value for money.

• Wines deriving from individual sites made from rigorously selected, top quality grapes.

2. The Classic range (Single Varietal)• The varietal wines express the character of the region’s native grape varieties harvested at the

optimum moment of ripeness with respect to the character of the vintage and the terroir of Südtirol - Alto Adige.

• Consists of sound quality wines.

• Both ranges more or less intensely express the natural potential of the terrain and microclimate of Tramin and its environs.

Winemaker• Willhelm (Willi) Stürz• Born and raised in the town of Tramin. • At age 19, he enrolled in the Winegrowing and Enology program at the Laimburg Research

Center in Bolzano, Italy. • Willi worked at the Kellerei Schloss Rametz and Tramin. • At 22, Willi began post-graduate study at the Bayrische Lehr-und Versuchsanstalt, in Würzburg,

Germany, where he again focused on winegrowing and enology. • From 1992 to 1995, Willi served as Wine Engineer for Tramin. • In 1995, he began his current role as Tramin’s winemaker.

• 100% Gewürztraminer• Gewürztraminer (which translates as “spice carrier” for

its spicy, exotic notes) has been a hallmark offering at Tramin since it was founded.

• Scents of peach and freshly cut grass over more subtle hints of white spice. Has a balanced acidity and weighty mouthfeel. On the palate, juicy tropical flavors of lychee and starfruit complement a delicately floral finish.

• Pairs well with swordfish in cucumber-dill sauce or mahi steaks with mango salsa.

Lagrein Alto Adige DOC

• 100% Lagrein• The wine is aged in a combination of large oak casks

and cement tanks to ensure softer tannins and greater finesse.

• Offers intense and complex aromas of cocoa, cinnamon, wild berries and violets. Harmonious on the palate, with fine tannins, it is full-bodied and velvety.

• This wine pairs extremely well with roasted game, pork or lamb, and flavorful cheese.

Nussbaumer Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC

• 100% Gewürztraminer• Pffers aromas of apricot, pineapple, rose petals and

lychees, followed by undertones of white pepper, mint and nutmeg.

Sauvignon Alto Adige DOC

• 100% Sauvignon Blanc• Exhibits pure, racy aromas of melon,

grapefruit and grass, in addition to those "classic" gooseberry notes. This succulent Sauvignon is light and balanced on the palate.

• A heavenly match for oysters on the half shell, fresh crab (perhaps in California rolls), shellfish and grilled white fish or poultry.

Stoan Alto Adige DOC

• 60% Chardonnay, 22% Sauvignon Blanc, 11% Pinot Bianco and 7% Gewürztraminer

• The name of this exotic Alto Adige blend refers to the stony soil in which the grapes are grown, which in local dialect is referred to as "stoan.”

• Delicate aromas of elder blossom, rose petals and tropical fruits. On the palate, this concentration of flavors continues, unfolding into an elegant and creamy finish.

• This wine pairs deliciously with flavorful starters, such as tuna ceviche or entrees such as grilled chicken with mango salsa.

Terminum Vendemmia Tardiva DOC

• 100% Gewürztraminer• Terminum is the historical Roman name of the

village of Termeno, for which Tramin is named. • Expressive aromas and flavors of dried apricots,

orange zest, rose petals and vanilla, with hints of botrytis. Persistent, layered and perfectly balanced.

• This wine pairs brilliantly with biscotti, fruit desserts and blue-veined cheeses.

Unterebner Pinot Grigio Alto Adige DOC

• 100% Pinot Grigio• Made from hand-selected grapes from the Unterebnerhof

vineyard, most of the wine (80%) is refined in large oak casks and the remaining part is aged in barriques.

• Supple aromas of honeysuckle, apple blossom, white pepper and buttery vanilla. Smooth and richly textured on the palate, its vibrant acidity and layered notes evolve into a long satisfying finish.

• Pair this wine with weightier entrees such as roast turkey with stuffing and gravy or herb-roasted game hens.
