Welcome back Id like to extend a very warm welcome back to all of our CVPS families and to all families who have joined us this year. We have a very exciting year ahead of us. This year will see us continuing to build on our Positive Behaviour for Learning systems and structures to support our students to do their best by being responsible learners, who are safe and respectful. 2019 will also see a focus on Sustainability with the creation of our Environmental Education Team. We will continue to work with Neilsen the Principal of Red Hill Environmental Education Centre in this area. This year we will be working with the staff in the implementation of the new Science and Technology syllabus with a particular focus on Digital Technologies. So lots to look forward to. Meet the Teacher and Welcome BBQ This Wednesday all of our families are invited to the school for our Meet the Teacher sessions and Welcome BBQ. The purpose of these sessions is to allow you to meet your childs class teacher and see the learning environment, as well as get an understanding of how the classroom is going to work this year. Each session will take place in your childs classroom. To cater for those families with more than one child enrolled at CVPS there will be two repeated sessions. Session 1 will run from 5 – 5:45pm and Session 2 will run from 6:30 – 7:15pm. Just a reminder that if your child/children are attending with you, we ask that they attend the sessions with you as no supervision will be provided for children. If you have not already indicated your attendance to this event then please phone the office so that we can know what sessions you will be attending. Unfortunately we cannot add any further numbers to the BBQ as catering was finalised today. Student Leadership This year we have decided to increase our student leadership team to include the introduction of a Student Representative Council. Last week each class from 3-6 elected one person to be their representative on this team for Semester 1. Our eight Student Councillors will lead this team. Our Student Leadership Team for 2019 consisting of our 8 School Councillors, 8 House Sports Captains, 8 House Vice-Sports Captains and our 11 SRC members will be inducted at a special assembly on Tuesday 12 th February at 12 noon. All parents of our student leaders are invited to attend this assembly. Congratulations to the following senior students who have been elected to leadership positions in 2019. A list of our SRC will be published in next weeks newsletter. Our Vision

At Cudgegong Valley Public School we do our best by being responsible learners, who are safe and respectful.

Welcome back I’d like to extend a very warm welcome back to all of our CVPS families and to all families who have joined us this year. We have a very exciting year ahead of us. School Uniform Just a reminder that it is an expectation that each of our students at CVPS is dressed in full school uniform every day. This includes black school shoes each day (except for your child’s sport day) as well as a school hat. Sports Days: Monday - Years 5 & 6 Wednesday - Years 3 & 4 Friday - Kinder, Years 1 & 2 The uniform shop is open on the following days: Tuesday Morning: 8.30am – 9.30am Thursday Morning: 8.30am – 9.30am Thursday Afternoon: 2.45pm – 3.30pm Orders can also be made online at www.flexischools.com.au

Expression of Interest for SLSO Expressions of interest are invited for a School Learning Support Officer from 18th February, 2019 to 18th December, 2019. This position is for 3 hours Monday and Tuesday (days are negotiable) and 5 hours Wednesday. An expression of interest addressing the criteria, of no more than 2 pages in length should be submitted, along with a CV briefly outlining qualifications, recent employment history and relevant skills to Michelle Neaverson-Smith, Principal at [email protected] by 5pm on Thursday 14th February, 2019. Please ensure to include two referees who are familiar with you and able to discuss your professional abilities and suitability for this position. A copy of the expression of Interest can be collected from the front Office or found on the school’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cvpsmudgee Student Wellbeing Support Officer We are looking to engage a Student Wellbeing Support Officer for 10 hours a week as part of the NSW Department of Education’s initiative Student Wellbeing Support Program. Key tasks of a Student Wellbeing Support Officer include, but are not limited to; - Working closely with teaching staff and students to deliver student resilience and wellbeing services and programs. - Supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of students.

- Developing relationships with, and referring students to, specialist services within the school or externally, under the supervision of the school principal. - Facilitating community partnership programs between the school and the wider community, under the supervision of the school principal. You will see that each child is asked to supply some materials for their own individual use and some materials to donate for use by the class throughout the year as required. It would be greatly appreciated If students could have these materials as soon as possible. Kindergarten: Each individual student will need: an A4 document wallet, a glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), a library bag, sunscreen and a paint shirt. Class supplies: another glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), hand sanitiser and a box of tissues. (These items will be used by the class throughout the year as required). Years 1 & 2: Each individual student will need: coloured pencils, coloured textas, 2x HB lead pencils, a glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), a soft rubber, a pencil case, a library bag, sunscreen and a paint shirt. Class supplies: another glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), hand sanitiser and a box of tissues. (These items will be used by the class throughout the year as required). Years 3 - 6: Each individual student will need: 2 x HB lead pencils, 2 x red and blue pens, a 30cm ruler with mm markings, a glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), an eraser, scissors, a sharpener, coloured pencils, a pencil case, a library bag and sunscreen (for individual use) Optional Items: dictionary, thesaurus, textas, sharpies, water colour pencils, Mathematics tools (compass, protractor), calculator (Years 5&6 only). Class supplies: another glue stick (UHU or Bostik, as the cheaper brands do not stick as well), hand sanitiser (Years 3&4), soap (Years 5&6) and a box of tissues.
