I believe that we are privileged to have such a highly skilled group of teachers and I am confident in the ability of

our teachers and they are well equipped to differentiate the curriculum and to cater for our students needs.

The process of forming classes is a complex process and teachers have considered many aspects such as

friendships, behavioural concerns, specific needs and teacher expertise when forming our classes. Thank you to

all the staff for the time that this has taken. Thank you for your understanding as we finalised the classes.

Welcome to Greenwich Public School evening

We are planning to hold a welcome to Greenwich Public School evening for all families K-6 on Monday the 13

February in the hall on the Kingslangley Road Campus. This will be an opportunity to come and meet the teaching

staff for 2017 and get an overview of the school directions for the year and hear from each of the stage Assistant

Principals. Parent/teacher interviews will be scheduled for later in the term, Week 6, where you will have a better

opportunity to discuss your child’s individual needs in a one-on-one session with their teacher.

The evening is planned to begin at 6pm and should conclude around 7:30pm. I look forward to seeing you there.

Fencing at Kingslangley Road

We have had temporary fencing erected on the Kingslangley Road campus as remediation work is being

undertaken by the Department of Education in the gully area to make the site safe. This work should be occurring

over the next week or two. In the meantime all students are asked not to enter this area at any time. It’s also a

good time to remind everyone the school is classified as Inclosed Lands. Access to our school should only occur

during school time and for the purpose of conducting business with the school. A reminder, that we have no

capacity to offer parking or drop off inside the school grounds. Access at any other time is only with the

permission of the principal.

Welcome Back

I would like to welcome back to our school Ms Kate Hallam and Ms Shauna McStraw who have both returned

following leave during 2016. Welcome back ladies we are delighted that you have returned to Greenwich Public

School.

STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths

2017 has begun with a STEM challenge in Science. Students were asked to design and make a

basketball tower. The measure of success was whether it could hold a basketball for 20 seconds.

Constraints included time and building materials which were just newspaper and sticky tape. An

extension challenge was to see who could build the tallest tower to support the ball. There was lots

of planning, designing, creating, testing and improving involved. Cooperative group work and a bit of

fun was essential. Well done!
