Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church July 1, 2018
From the Pastor:
In today’s Gospel, we encounter Jesus’ healing touch. St. Catherine of Siena has something to say about this, specifical-ly in His Precious Blood: In Christ’s blood we are made strong, even though weakness persists in our sensuality…. Here, I am saying, is how we gain this glorious virtue of strength and steady perseverance: since our reason is made strong in Christ’s blood, we must drown our-selves in this sweet glorious ransom. How? With our mind’s eye and by the light of most holy faith we see it within the vessel of our own soul, in the knowledge that our being comes from God, and that God created us anew to grace in the blood of his Only Begotten Son. And in that blood we were freed from our weak-ness…. Oh blood, you dissipated the darkness and gave us light so that we might know the eternal Father’s truth and holy will. You filled our soul with grace, the source of our life and our freedom from eternal death. …. You burn and consume our soul in the fire of divine charity, eating up anything there is that is alien to God’s will; yet you do not cripple us or dry us up as does the guilt of deadly sin… there is no love without strength, nor strength with-out perseverance—and that is why you strengthen and comfort us in every adversity. ….this is how you come to perfect strength: by uniting yourself with the fire of divine charity which you will discover in the blood, and by there drowning to death all selfish will. Then, once you have drawn near to supreme strength, you will be strong and persevering.
Let us remember the strength God gives us in the sacraments! Thanks be to God!
With love and prayers, Fr. Francis

Recent Collection Meditation from St. Philip Neri
“To get good from reading the Lives of the Saints, and other spiritual books, we ought not to read out of curiosity, or skimmingly, but with pauses; and when we feel ourselves warmed, we ought not to pass on, but to stop and follow up the spirit which is stirring in us, and when we feel it no longer then to pursue our reading.”
Remembering those we love
Consider a Memorial Donation of Altar Bread and Wine, or a Memorial Donation for Altar Flowers for a week.
Flowers will be placed on the altar in the main Church for the weekend and then moved to the Chapel for weekday Masses. The name of your loved one along with the name of the person making the request will be printed in the Bulletin and they will be remembered in a special way by the Priests as they celebrate
Mass.
We will also continue to take requests for the Tabernacle Candle Memorials for both the Main Church and the Chapel . Please call the Parish Office (359-1230) for more information about remembering a loved one.
Disposal of an American Flag
When an American flag becomes worn, fad-ed, torn or soiled, it should be retired and re-
placed with a new flag. Retired flags should never be tossed in the trash. They may be burned, buried, shredded or given to an organization which will properly dispose of it. American Legion members of our parish ( John M. Perry Post) are most happy to receive your retired flags and will have a box at the back of the church from Sunday June 17 through Sunday July 8 to collect and respectfully dispose of them.

Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church July 1, 2018
A letter from the Pastor about Registration for Religious Education:
Dear OLSH Families,
On-Line Registration for the Religious Education program at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church for the
2018-2019 School Year began on June 5, 2018 and will close on July 31, 2018.
Currently registered families should have received an email from Parish Giving which will instruct you to reg-
ister on the Parish Giving website. Please use the user name and temporary password to verify your contact infor-
mation and details, make payment and select your class sessions.
Registration is on a FIRST COME – FIRST SERVED BASIS as always. All of our classes have an attendance cap
and once that limit has been reached, we will not be able to accommodate your child/children for that particular
class. You will then need to make a selection from another available day and time. Therefore, it is imperative that
you register early if you are in need of a specific day and time.
Please note that you must be a “registered member” of our Parish to register your child/children in our pro-
gram. If you are not registered, please stop by the rectory between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm to do so. You
will need to provide a copy of your child/children’s baptismal certificate(s) before we can process your registra-
tion. Tuition Rates 2018-2019
$150 for one child
$200 for 2 children
$250 for 3+ children
Additional Sacramental Fees: First Holy Communion $80 for each student ($120 for twins)
Confirmation $100 for each student ($160 for twins)
SACRAMENTAL FEES MUST BE PAID AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION
A late fee of $75 will apply for all registration forms received ON or AFTER August 1st.

**We have added a 7th and 8th Grade to the Tuesday afternoon session for your convenience.
New families, especially those with first graders, should contact the RE office at 365-2141 as soon as possible to
begin the registration process.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that, as parents, you are expected to take an active
role in your child/children’s faith formation. As children participate weekly in the celebration of the Eucharist along
with other daily practices that nourish their life of faith, they are strengthening the foundation of a faith life that will
carry them well into the future. Weekly Mass attendance is a requirement for their faith development so please
remain diligent in attending. You are their first and foremost teachers.
Thank you for your partnership. Together we can continue to educate the children that God has entrusted
in our care. Please do not hesitate to call the office if you have any questions (Religious Ed. office hours 9:00am –
2:00pm, 845-365-2141). We are looking forward to another great school year!
God Bless,
Rev. Francis Conka, Pastor
