The Reality That Does Not Perish

The Eucharist communicates the Lord’s love for us: a love so great that it nourishes

us with Himself; a freely given love, always available to every person who hungers and needs to regenerate his own strength. To live the experience of faith means to allow oneself to be nourished by the Lord and to build one’s own existence, not with material goods, but with the reality that does not perish: the gifts of God, his Word and His Body. Pope Francis, Homily, June 19, 2014.

Reflection: The Eucharist is a great reminder of how much the Lord seeks to be near us. He wants to make his love tangible to us. He wants to give us life. Arrive at Mass early this week. Prepare yourself for this great gift of God’s tremendous mercy. Don’t take it for granted.(Our Sunday Visitor) Our Lady of Peace…Pray for Us!

**Attention: Eucharistic Ministers**You are needed to help in our important service to Wesley Glen on Sunday mornings.

I would like to expand our group of seven (we had eight but we just lost one) that serves once a month. Each group of two has an assigned week of the month. They go to the Health Center, Special Care Unit and the main building to bring communion to the Catholic residents.

Wesley Glen is the nursing home Our Lady of Peace is responsible for taking care of. Our groups go on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th weeks of the month. On the 4th week Deacon Fortkamp celebrates a Liturgy of the Word with communion for all residents in the auditorium located on the 8th floor. If we can add four or five more to help once a month, we can decrease the number of people that they take communion to, and decrease the amount of time it takes per Sunday. The people are very appreciative of your coming, and if you have a giving heart, and can give some time to this ministry, I know you will find it very rewarding. Please prayerfully consider this special ministry. Please call Sr. Martha and leave a message on my office phone 614-268-3426. Please leave your name and number and I will get back to you. Thank you!

The Novena for Faithful Citizenship can befound in the Gathering Space.

WOMEN OF THE PARISH – YOU ARE INVITED TOWalking With Purpose

Have you wondered what is Walking With Purpose and how do you do it? Women of the parish, you are invited to a gathering on Monday, November 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the Old Rectory meeting room. We would like to share with you a new women’s Catholic Bible Study ministry that will begin on January 11, 2017. We are planning an evening of fellowship, refreshments and information. This program aims to bring women to a deeper personal relationship with Christ by offering personal study and small group discussions that link our everyday challenges and struggles with the solutions given to us through teachings of Christ and the Roman Catholic Church.

This week in Alpha:Does God Heal Today?“He went around all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness among the people.” (Matthew 4:23)

Healing Today• God heals explicably-through the medical

profession• God heals inexplicably and directly• Not only does Jesus cure, but He orders His

apostles to do the same after Him: “And he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal” (Luke 9:2). “As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Cure the sick” (Matthew 10:7-8). We always find the two things together: preach the Gospel and cure the sick. Man has two means to try to overcome his sicknesses: nature and grace. Nature indicates the intelligence, science, medicine, technology; grace indicates direct recourse to God, through faith and prayer and the sacraments. (Excerpted from Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa’s commentary on the Gospel, January 23, 2005)

How do we heal?• It’s God who heals – not us.• Simplicity – pray as Jesus did with love and

compassion. (Matthew 9:36; Mark 1:41) Didn’t make this session of Alpha? We’ll be offering another session in February 2017**! Pre-register for the next session at the parish website: http://www.olp-parish.org/ **Please note date change

Book Lovers! For many, many years Catherine Lampe has been covering new library books as they come in! We agree that she deserves to step down! We are looking for some replacements for her. It is a great job that you can do at home. The only requirement is that you have to be very detail-oriented and a bit picky! The books are covered so nicely, they last many years and many students are able to read them. There are videos online that teach you how it is done! We can also teach you how to cover the books. Please alert Miss Byrnes or Mrs. Gruber at 614-267-4535 if you are willing to help!
