The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the First & Third Sunday of each month, 11:00AM Mass & 12:30PM respectively. A mandatory preparation class for parents takes place the fourth Monday of every other month. Dates are: July 22, Sept. 23, Nov. 18. Call the Parish office to register. Sacrament of Matrimony An appointment with a parish priest needs to be made at least six months prior to the wedding date. PreCana or Engagement Encounter is required. FAITH FORMATION NEWS
Please read as there is new info: Elementary (Grades K-5) Religious Ed classes this week. Classes meet in the OLP school at 10:30AM. Dismissal is 12:15PM from the gym.
Secondary (Grades 6-10) Religious Ed begins this Sunday, September 29, 2013. There is a parent meeting for all secondary students and their parents/guardians in the church at 5:40PM. Students will be dismissed from the school at 7:30PM.
Confirmation Rite of Enrollment Mass will take place next Sunday, October 6, 2013, at 11:00AM Mass. Sponsors are invited to attend with the candidates. Candidates should arrive at church by 10:45AM and sit in the reserved section.

PALS Support Group
PALS Support Group (People After Loss from Suicide) is a grief support group that offers encouragement and education to all who suffer from the loss of a loved one by suicide.
PALS meetings are held every 3rd Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00PM at St. Marks Catholic Center, 429 East Grandview Blvd. in Erie in the Bishop Michael J. Murphy Conference Room (entrance located in the back of the building on the west side.

Members of the 31 Club agree to go to daily Mass on a particular day every month and offer that Mass for an increase of vocations to the Church. There is a great need for vocations in the Church today. One of the best ways to increase vocations is through prayer, and the greatest prayer we have is the holy sacrifice of the Mass. The Boy Scouts of Our Lady of Peace

raking leaves in the fall, etc.
Many Scouts need service hours for advancement and this type of work helps them achieve their goal. If you so choose in return for the work done, you can make a good will offering to Troop 59 to help with costs for campouts and equipment.

Wishing in His supreme goodness and wisdom to effect the redemption of the world, "when the fullness of time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman...that we might receive the adoption of sons." "He for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit from the Virgin Mary." The Virgin Mary, who at the message of the angel received the Word of God in her heart and in her body and gave Life to the world, is acknowledged and honored as being truly the Mother of God and Mother of the Redeemer. Redeemed by reason of the merits of her Son and united to Him by a close and indissoluble tie, she is endowed with the high office and dignity of being the Mother of the Son of God, by which account she is also the beloved daughter of the Father and the temple of the Holy Spirit. Because of this gift of sublime grace she far surpasses all creatures, both in heaven and on earth. At the same time, however, because she belongs to the offspring of Adam she is one with all those who are to be saved. She is "the mother of the members of Christ . . . having cooperated by charity that faithful might be born in the Church, who are members of that Head." Wherefore she is hailed as a pre-eminent and singular member of the Church, and as its type and excellent exemplar in faith and charity. The Catholic Church, taught by the Holy Spirit, honors her with filial affection and piety as a most beloved mother.
54. Wherefore this Holy Synod, in expounding the doctrine on the Church, in which the divine Redeemer works salvation, intends to describe with diligence both the role of the Blessed Virgin in the mystery of the Incarnate Word and the Mystical Body, and the duties of redeemed mankind toward the Mother of God, who is mother of Christ and mother of men, particularly of the faithful. It does not, however, have it in mind to give a complete doctrine on Mary, nor does it wish to decide those questions which the work of theologians has not yet fully clarified. The OLP Prayer Ministry is a way
for us as the Body of Christ to expand ministry to and from the home-bound and those unable to attend parish functions or meetings. What this is - and what this is not: This is not a ministry to the home-bound or those others separated due to circumstance, rather it is a ministry for those to minister to all others at OLP. We will ask for prayers from those unable to be with us in person. Prayers that the participants in the OLP Prayer Ministry will offer on behalf of a particular ministry, group or function. We will ask those in the Prayer Ministry to offer prayers, from their homes, nursing home...for a particular group, ministry or function at the same time that particular group is meeting. Those members of the Body of Christ, not able to be with us, will be able to use their gifts of time and prayer to be united with us in prayer. The groups meeting will in turn pray for the individual(s) who are in turn praying for them.

Daily at 11:40AM The Rosary of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary is prayed daily at 11:40AM, just before the 12:10 Mass.
