A Note From The Pastor… I hope that you all had a Merry Christmas. This weekend

we celebrate the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the

Mother of God. It’s a Holy Day of Obliga"on, but, like

Christmas last weekend, it falls on a Sunday.

On this day, first and foremost, we celebrate Mary’s role

in the Mystery of Christ’s Birth. Mary’s role in salva"on

history has always been connected with the Christmas

Mystery. The Church declared at the Council of Ephesus in

431 A.D. that Mary may rightly be called “The Mother of

God.” On this day we also pray, through Mary’s

intercession, for peace in the world.

Fr. Charles is back! He’s visi"ng for a “limited !me only”

as he will return to Uganda in mid-January. We are blessed to once again have him with

us. Please give him a warm welcome – I’m sure he would love to hear from you.

Next Sunday (and Saturday at the Evening Vigil) we celebrate The Epiphany Of The

Lord. We will have a Holy Hour at 3PM in the Church, concluding with Benedic"on at

4PM. Please see the bulle"n for addi"onal details. All are welcome.

Unfortunately, the Mother of our former Pastor, Father Tom Hoffman, died on

November 28th. Kathryn Hoffman was 96 years old. I have spoken with Fr. Tom and

have assured him of our prayers. There will be a Memorial Mass next Saturday:

Respect Life Rosary Next Saturday, January 7th, at 8AM in the Church, and

the first Saturday of every month, join us for Mass at 8AM

followed by the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady.

This Rosary medita"on recalls the sorrows of the Blessed

Mother who endured in compassion the suffering and

death of her Divine Son. The Rosary is recited for the

inten"ons of the unborn, and in repara"on for the sin of

abor"on. Please join us next Saturday, January 7th.

The Legion Of Mary – Traveling Mary Statue Are you in need of answers to prayers? Do you desire more peace and unity in your

family? Do you want to increase your devo!on to Our Blessed Mother? Are you seeking a

special grace to help with life’s latest challenge? Are you looking for a way to thank Our

Lady for blessings already received?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above ques"ons, then please consider invi"ng Our

Blessed Mother to come stay at your home. Visits generally last one week, and are

facilitated by members of the Our Lady of Humility Legion of Mary.

There are prayers for both the arrival and farewell days that last between 30-40 minutes,

and include the Rosary. Families are encouraged to pray the Rosary together every day

while Our Lady is visi"ng. (We have “How to Pray the Rosary” Pamphlets and Rosaries available for those who

request them.)

Our Mother Mary wants nothing more than to bring us closer to her Son, Jesus, Our Lord and Savior. She is

pa"ently wai"ng to assist us in all of life’s necessi"es. Praying the Rosary every day is a great way to deepen

your prayer life.

“The more we honor the Blessed Virgin, the more we honor Jesus Christ because we honor Mary only to more

perfectly honor Jesus, since we go to her only to find the end we are seeking, which is Jesus.” (–St. Louis de

Mon#ort).

Please contact Peggy at (847) 366-4826 to schedule a visit, or if you have any ques"ons.

Eucharis!c

Adora!on It is easy to

recognize an image

of Our Lord in the

manger at

Christmas, as well

as when we look upon a crucifix. But

when we look at the Consecrated

Host, enshrined in the monstrance, is

He as easily recognized? Pray for the

Gi- of Faith. The Li#le Baby in the

Manger and the Man on the Cross

are images of Jesus Christ, but the

One Who is in the monstrance is not

an image, but the Real Presence of

Jesus in His glorified body, hidden

within the Consecrated Host. Take

the opportunity in this New Year, to

know Jesus a li#le be#er in His

Eucharis"c Presence, so that He

becomes more easily recognized.

“The !me you spend with Jesus in

the Blessed Sacrament is the best

!me that you will spend on earth.

Each moment that you spend with

Jesus will deepen your union with

Him, and make your soul

everlas!ngly more glorious and

beau!ful in heaven, and will help

bring about an everlas!ng peace on

earth.” (–Mother Teresa of Calcu&a)

The Magi followed the Star to find

Jesus, we can find Him in Eucharis"c

Adora"on.

Do something extra special in this

New Year, please consider coming to

Eucharis"c Adora"on on Thursdays

at 1PM. Come, bring your family,

spend some "me with the Lord, and

receive His blessings! He is wai"ng

for you!

New Year’s Blessing God, thank you for a New Year. May everyone in our

family be willing to begin anew with a clean slate. We

know that You are always ready to forgive us. Help us

to be willing to forgive ourselves, and to forgive one

another.

As we begin a New Year, remind us of our truest values, and our deepest

desires. Help us to live in the goodness that comes from doing what You

want us to do. Help us to put aside anxiety about the future and the past, so

that we might live in peace with You now, one day at a !me.

Community, and Family.

We look forward to seeing you, bring a friend.

New Year’s Prayer Dear Lord,

We pray that this New Year will

bring us closer to You. May we

take the !me to get to know You.

Help us to truly celebrate the gi's

You have graciously given us, and

use them to serve You, and spread

Your Word.

May we also see and love You in

all the people we meet, so that in

turn, they can see You in us.

We know that all human rela!ons

take !me if they are to grow and

deepen. This is also true of our

rela!ons with You, the Father and

the Holy Spirit, which must grow

over the course of our lives.

In this New Year, let us realize that

every ac!on of ours no ma&er

how great or small, enables us to

be in touch with You.

Let us accept You in our lives,

in the way it pleases You,

as Truth, to be spoken,

as Life, to be lived,

as Light, to be lighted,

as Love, to be followed,

as Joy, to be given,

as Peace, to be spread about,

as Sacrifice, to be offered among

our rela!ves, friends, neighbors,

and all people.

Amen.
