Our Lady of Hope This Week

PUTTING JESUS FIRST IS OUR CHALLENGE

Once again Jesus discusses the challenge of living the Gospel. Faithful discipleship comes with de-mands. But we are not to keep the Gospel message to ourselves—it must be proclaimed and lived no matter what the cost. For those who are faithful, the reward will be newness of life.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

In the first reading, a woman of influence who con-sistently offers hospitality to Elisha is rewarded with the promise of a son. Saint Paul reminds the Roman community that through baptism they share in the death and resurrection of Christ. In the Gospel, Jesus tells His Apostles that whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is

not worthy of me.

©2020 FAITH Catholic-Lansing Michigan

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT

Jesus calls us to take up our crosses and follow Him. We must have faith that our God loves us and will see us through all of our troubles.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR

I would like to wish all of you a blessed and safe 4th of July and invite you to pray with me the fol-lowing prayer for our nation, keeping in mind our hopes for good health in the coming months for all Americans:

God our Father, Giver of life, Entrust the United States of America to Your loving care.

You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among Your people.

Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsi-

bilities that accompany human freedom. Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and

doing Your will.

Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, Grant us the courage to reject The “culture of death” which breeds violence and hatred. Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fr. Dowling asked me to extend his best wishes to all of the parishioners of Our Lady of Hope. He wants you to know that he is fine. His local superi-or has continued quarantining Fr. Dowling and his fellow Jesuits for their safety and well being. He continues to pray for all of the parishioners at Our Lady of Hope and is awaiting the time he can come back and celebrate Mass.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The Religious Education Office is happy to announce that we are open. Office hours are Tuesdays and Fri-days 10am to 3pm, and an appointment is required.

On Sunday June 28 at 12:45pm, Fr. Arnao and the Level 2 catechists will be greeting the First Commun-ion children in the church parking lot via a car pa-rade. This is a small way of reminding them that they are missed and loved since the First Communion mass had to be postponed.

Registration for Level 1 children will take place from July 3 to July 17. You can register your child in per-son by appointment, mail or email. All forms can be found on website www.olhope.org under the Religious Education tab. Religious Education fees can now be paid online by visiting olhope.weshareonline.org. Thank you to all students and parents that have completed the remaining work for the 2019-2020 Re-ligious Ed year and for dropping off books. We are extending the deadline for completed book drop off until July 17. As per the email sent in March, for your child so move to the next level we need to have received the remaining chapters completed. If your child has misplaced their book please contact the of-fice to receive an assignment based on their grade level.

The Religious Education Office would like to thank all catechists for their constant support throughout this challenging year. The catechist year end evaluation forms were sent out. Please return these forms, books or any other materials as soon as possible. Have a Great Summer!

OUR LADY OF HOPE FOOD PANTRY

Unfortunately, the Food Pantry is unable to operate as it usually does but we hope that in the coming weeks they will be able to begin to do their work in this new atmos-phere. We are still able to accept donations of non-perishable items and we thank our parishioners who have continued to support the Pantry.
