Fraternally Yours,
Carole DeVito President
Happy Labor Day – Happy Grandparents’ Day
It is September again and time to plan for our coming season. As you know I am always open to someone’s ideas or suggestions. Don’t be shy, because sometimes I need different ideas to keep everyone interested and happy.
Total Wine in Legacy Place is our meeting place for September, due to renovations being done in the Jupiter Community Center. Cheese and crackers will be provided to go with the wine tasting after the meeting.
We have decided to have our picnic in October instead of April. Sometimes it is to close to our St. Joseph event and most times it conflicts with Palm Sunday and Easter. In October we can celebrate Columbus Day at our picnic on Sunday, October 27th. I believe we want to do a pot luck picnic again because everyone enjoys the varieties of foods that are provided by the great cooks in our lodge.
In November we will have one of our “Bingo Nights” which everyone seems to enjoy. At our Christmas meeting we will again honor a ‘Wounded Warrior’ and his family. On Sunday, December 8th, we will have our Annual Christmas Dinner Dance at the Sandhill Crane Golf Club on Northlake Blvd, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. See page 2 for details.
In January we’ll be getting nominations for our Council. Elections will be held in February 2020. Anyone wishing to run for a position please let the nominating committee know.
We will continue to go out to dinner or lunch once a month just to enjoy each others company. We also must support our advertisers. Our next dinner will be at Nick & Johnny’s on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Our telephone committee will be calling you.
SEPTEMBER 4, 2019 - MEMBERSHIP MEETING Our membership meeting in September will be changed to Total Wine in Legacy Place, PGA Blvd., due to the weeks closing of The Jupiter Community Center. The Jupiter Community Center opens its’ doors each year later in September due to their yearly renovations. Because of this we must change our meeting place to: Total Wine, (Legacy Place) 11221 Legacy Avenue, Palm Beach Gardens (561) 622-7340 at 6:30 p.m. There will be wine tasting w/cheese and crackers and a wine demonstration after our meeting. For any information needed please call Sister Carole DeVito at (561) 328-6710.
GOODWILL Get well wishes and speedy recovery goes out to Brother Michael Bastone on his recent surgery. We hope he is feeling as good as new and will be back to our meetings shortly. Our deepest sympathies went out over the summer to a few of our members and their loved ones, as well as, two friends to our lodge. Sister Dina DiPasquale and Brother Paul Scire’s wife, Kathy, passing in June, Antonio D’Ausilio and Mary Pellino, both passing in July. Our lodge sends much love and sympathy to all.If you know any brother or sister who has been ill, had a birth announced or has had a death in their family, contact Sister Anna Fattorusso at (561) 775-3030. WE DO CARE.
CONGRATULATIONSAs you all are aware in June the Grand Lodge of Florida had its 2019 convention, which took place in Deerfield Beach. We are sending out our best wishes and congratulations to our newly elected State President Anthony Cianciotta. We know this is no new territory to him and he will do an excellent job. The convention for the National President was in San Antonio, Texas in August 2019.

ITALIAN TRIVA - YOUNG ITALIANS TAKE to the COUNTRYAs a result of Italy’s struggling economy, one positive new trend has been developing: Italy’s youth has been migrating to the countryside to start their own businesses. With many young graduates unable to find work, creating economic opportunity has become essential for them. This has led them to the rural areas of Italy, where they have begun cultivating abandoned and used farmland. In the past two years, Italy’s countryside has seen a 35% increase in businesses.Approximately 50,000 Italians under the age of 35 have left urban areas to return to the countryside. With about one in ten young Italians working in agriculture, Italy now boasts the highest number of youth working in this field in all of Europe.

On her way to work one morning “But if I hadn’t brought you in by now you might have died” Down the path alongside the lake Now she stroked his pretty skin and then she kissed and held him tight A tender-hearted woman saw a poor half-frozen snake But instead of saying thanks, that snake gave her a vicious biteHis pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew “Take me in, oh tender woman “Oh well,” she cried, “I’ll take you in and I’ll take care of you” Take me in, for heaven’s sake”Take me in, oh tender woman Take me in oh tender woman,” sighed the snakeTake me in, for heaven’s sake I saved you,” cried that woman “ Take me in oh tender woman,” sighed the snake “And you’ve bit me even, why? She wrapped him up all cozy in a curvature of silk You know your bite is poisonous and now I’m going to die” And then laid him by the fireside with some honey and some milk “Oh shut up, silly woman,” said the reptile with a grin Now she hurried home from work that night as soon as she arrived “You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in She found that pretty snake she’d taken in had been revived “Take me in oh tender woman, “Take me in oh tender woman, Take me in, for heaven’s sake Take me in, for heaven’s sake Take me in oh tender woman, “sighed the snake Take me in, oh tender woman” sighed the snake “Now she clutched him to her bosom, “You’re so beautiful” she cried Taken from the Al Wilson song
