Our Golden Agers class is specifically designed for adults age 50+. Join Marie Bischoff, instructor, for a ride on the technology “bandwagon” to learn some basic software skills using Windows 10. We’ll explore the internet, set up an email account, play with social media and merge information for labels or letters in this class! Class meets twice a week for four weeks—a total of 14 hours of computer fun!

Using positive reinforcement your furry friend will learn to sit, get down, stay, come, leave it, take it, wait, eye contact and loose-leash walking. Proof of vaccination is required at the first night’s class. Please bring your furry friend on a solid leash (not retractable.) Eight week class.

Therapy Dog Training Therapy dogs come in all sizes, ages, and breeds. The most important characteristic of a therapy dog is its temperament. A suitable therapy dog MUST be friendly, patient, confident, gentle, and at ease in unfamiliar situations. They must enjoy human contact and being handled by unfamiliar children and adults. If this sounds like your dog, come join us for this four week class focusing on canine-assisted pet therapy. Our class is designed to prepare you and your dog for this rewarding volunteer opportunity! Kim Wood/Cindy Homes, instructors. Dogs need proof of vaccinations, possess basic obedience skills and be comfortable around other dogs.

“Ugly” Sweater/Sweatshirt Fun Day Saturday, December 3, at Orchard View High School. (4-8p) Get your crazy on and

enjoy some time with the family. You bring a plain sweater or sweatshirt (one for each person) and we will provide all kinds of trim to make it “ugly.” Pictures available at an additional fee. After you

decorate your sweater/sweatshirts you can join us for a hot dog supper and a family classic holiday movie. Cost $4 per person or $15 for family of five.


Wet on Wet Painting No experience or talent required! Paint a complete professional oil painting in one night! Learn how to paint the “Wet-on-Wet” method popularized by Bob Ross and other television artists. Our experienced instructor, Pauline Stitt, will lead you step-by-step through this technique that makes it easy and fun to create your own masterpiece! Oil paints, canvas, and easel will be provided. Student will need to supply brushes or they can be purchased from the instructor on the night of class. Class fee is $42. Class held from 6-9p. A sample of the finished project will be on display in the Community Education office.

You will create your own recipe and make four bars of soap to take home. This is the old fashioned process and contains lye. All materials included. Instructor, Kathy Hoath.

Disappearing Nine Patch Quilt The disappearing nine patch is a simple variation on the traditional nine patch block. It’s very easy to make, and looks impressive when finished. It’s an ideal pattern for a scrap quilt and a great way to use those charm square packs (a charm pack is about 40 pre-cut five inch squares of coordinated fabric). This is a lap quilt but can be adjusted for larger sizes. Basic sewing skills needed. Bring your machine or use one of ours. Four week class. Call for supply list. Instructor, Brenn Fricano.

Day-Dates Time Price Thurs, 10/6-10/27 5:30-9p $37 Canine Good Citizen The American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test (CGC) is a certification program that evaluates dogs in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere. The purpose of the test is to ensure that dogs are respected members of their communities and are trained to act mannerly in the home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs. The ten-step CGC certification includes important skills like: greet a friendly stranger, sits politely for petting and move politely through a crowd. The CGC test is an important preparation for owners interested in the therapy dog program that OV Community Ed offers. NOTE: ALL dogs must have written proof of current vaccinations at the first class. This is a four week class. Kim Wood/Cindy Homes, instructors.

You will also learn to tune your guitar, read music, play scales, and strum and play cords. Plant Based Eating 101 Have you been hearing a lot about the benefits of a plant based diet and are not sure if it could be for you. INTRO TO EXCEL

Learning how to use Microsoft Excel will make all your work with spreadsheets so much easier. Navigating through the various tabs of the ribbon can be daunting. We’ll spend time exploring the Excel interface so we can get up to speed quickly to create effective and efficient spreadsheets. We’ll learn basic concepts including formulas and functions, and several tools to make our job easier.

INTRO TO PC/WINDOWS 10

This introductory course is designed to teach first time computer users the basics of computing, and using Microsoft Windows 10 Professional. Learn to manage your files and folders through My Computer and the Windows Explorer. You’ll also get a glimpse at the various programs within Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

INTRO TO WORD

Microsoft Word makes word processing a breeze on your laptop or PC with many easy-to-use tools. This introductory course will cover different features of the interface, give a brief overview of all the tabs in the ribbon, and discuss printing and basic text formatting. By the end of the class, users should be comfortable creating, saving, and printing a new document, making it look professional and presentable.

Career Building and Continuing Education

MEDICAL OFFICE—TERMINOLOGY: Learn the prefixes, suffixes, root words, and how to combine forms necessary in the medical profession. Work on word building, spelling, definition, and pronunciation of medical terms.

MEDICAL OFFICE—CODING: Learn how to use the CPT manual and the ICD-9-CM to find medical codes for any disease, condition, treatment, or surgical procedure. Prereq: Basic un-derstanding of PC, Medical Terminology.

MEDICAL OFFICE—CLAIMS PROCESSING: Basic knowledge and understanding of the medical insurance billing process, familiarity with insurance billing forms, rules and regu-lations on filing claims. Introduction to different types of insur-ance. Prereq: Medical Terminology, Medical Coding (required for Coders and Billers).

Develop or enhance your medical office skills by taking one or more of the following courses.

All classes meet Tuesday evenings for 6 weeks. Call for dates, 6-8p.

Class fee is $237 each, includes the textbook.
