One Day Industrial Visit to
TATA POWER SKILL DEVELOPMENT
INSTITUTE (TPSDI), Shahad
On 05th September, 2018 Electrical Engineering Department of Atharva College
of Engineering has organized Industrial Visit for SE students at Tata Power Skill

(Approved by AICTE, Recognized by Government of Maharashtra & Affiliated to University of Mumbai - Estd. 1999 - 2000)
Development Institute (TPSDI) located at Shahad under the coordination of Prof.
Suvarna More. The aim of the industrial visit was to have a very good exposure
for the students to have practical and industrial knowledge.
The Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) is an endeavour from the Tata
Power Company to empower youth and others with employable skills, especially
in the Power and allied sectors, and to address the skill gap challenge faced by the
Indian Power Sector. The Institute provides modular training and certification
across a wide range of employable skills.
The students got overview in Cable Jointing Skills, Lineman Skills, Power System
Skills, Power Transmission and Distribution Skills, Metering Skills, Solar Power
Skills, and other Electrical Skills.
The Dummy – 22 KV electrical switchyard, 110 KV Transmission Line Towers,
Overhead Distribution Line, Pole-mounted Substation, Distribution System –
Feeders, panels, metering system, metering testing facility were shown to
students. The students also saw Safety, Health and Environment and how it
facilities to train people on working at heights, Electrical safety – LOTO, PTW.
Students visited the Electrical Lab equipped with various working models of AC
motors, DC Motors, Drives, Cable-Laying and jointing facility for LV, HV and EHV,
Power Plant Safety training centre. Also visited Workshops for Bench Fitting,
Drilling, Grinding, Lathe, and other equipment, Training centre which facilities for
Allied Electrical Skills like Wiring - Domestic and Industrial, Motor Repair and
Rewinding, Power Meter Installation.
All the students enthusiastically participated in the visit and gained skill
development knowledge in the field of Electrical Engineering.
