On Friday, Feb. 20, the DFA will be sponsoring a Mardi Gras event upstairs at Fred’s Restaurant. At 7:00 pm New Orleans style food will be available. During the evening, you may join the fun to find the King’s stolen Treasure Box Key. This is optional, but who wouldn’t want a chance to win $150? The Queen will award a prize for the best costume. This will be a ticketed event open to the public. Cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple. Costumes and masks are encouraged. Come dressed as a member of the King’s Court - or whatever you like! Beads, glitter, sequins, and masks are part of the Mardi Gras tradition. Come, join in the fun. We will be advertising for DFA members in the form of “Royal Proclamations,” to be hung on the walls at Fred’s. These will be created to look like scrolls. Wording should not be too lengthy and may be whimsical and Mardi-Gras associated e.g., Royal Proclamation - Franklin Art & Frame- works is the favoured custom picture framer of Kings and Queens - SO SAYETH THE KING. A volunteer from the DFA will be in contact with you asking if you would like to take advantage of the Proclamation. We ask for a $5 donation to help with costs. Also feel free to call the DFA office (562-6900) if you want to purchase a proclamation.
