The mission of the Gulfport School District is to inspire each student to become a problem solver, lifelong learner, and pro-ductive member of society.

Mardi Gras Parade

The Kindergarten Mardi Gras Parade is right around the corner. Please continue to donate Mardi Gras beads for the parade on February 5. The BVE Mardi Gras Pa-rade is also in need of at

least two convertible cars. If you are willing to drive your convertible during the parade, please contact Mrs. Hill at [email protected]. We would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Give BVE a BOOST

BVE’s BOOST Pro-gram is in need of volun-teers. Volunteer as little as a half an hour week to make a positive impact at Bayou View Elemen-tary School. If you are interested in donating your time, please email Mrs. Dante Johnson at [email protected]. Our students would greatly appreciate your time.

Tips from the Counselor’s Cove

Talking to your child about his/her day is important. Try some of these questions or comments to delve a little deeper: Best or Worst: What was the best part of your day? What was the worst?; tell me something that made you laugh today; tell me one thing you learned today; what did you write about today?; how did you help someone today?; what word did your teacher say the most today?; if you were the teacher tomorrow, what would you do? Let your child create questions. Maybe even questions that your child can

ask about your day at home/work. Keep the conversations going!! Used everyday, these questions will help build a home/school connection that will last throughout your child’s education.
