SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2015 1:00 – 5:00 P.M.

A. Opening/Welcome

1. Share the mission of the Ad Hoc Committee 2. Explain the format for the Forum 3. Provide guidelines for communication

B. General Session (Opportunity for individual sharing with the entire group)

1. What has been your experience with the Olympia Police Department? 2. How can Olympia Police Department better serve you?

** B R E A K ** (15 Minutes)

C. Break Out Sessions (Opportunity to respond to specific questions and hear others)

1. Three specific questions 2. Small groups of 8-10 people 3. Facilitated conversation (appointed time keeper, and recorder for each group) 4. 25 minutes for each question 5. People can rotate every 25 minutes to a new question or stay at one group

Break Out Questions

1. How can the Police Department more effectively reach out to underrepresented citizens and groups in the community (ethnic or racial minorities, LGBT, homeless, crime victims, persons arrested or convicted of crimes)

2. The vision of the Olympia Police Department is to provide policing services through trust and partnership:

a. What does that look like to you? b. How can the Police Department better meet your expectations for an ideal department

3. How can we help community members feel safe when interacting with the Police?

D. Wrap Up

1. Welcome new people who arrived during process. 2. Share opportunities/dates for future participation
