POLICY AND GUIDELINES

University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Engineering Department of Electronics Engineering

PROGRAM OBJECTIVESy Give the student exposure to the actual

technical and managerial aspects of the ECE profession.y Enable the student to gain experience, relate

and apply the theories learned in school to real industrial situation and problems.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVESy Develop and instill a positive attitude, self-

confidence and self-motivation required of a responsible professional in handling tasks.y Impress on the student the importance of

human relations in the workplace or environment.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF OJTy All

ECE students with FIFTH YEAR STANDING must undergo OJT, which is a partial fulfillment of PRACT/PS requirement.

y For irregular students, you are required to

submit a STUDY PLAN together with your Letter of Application.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF OJTy The minimum required number of

training hours is 200 hours.y A student is required to submit a

progress training.

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESy The student writes a Letter of Application in

duplicate addressed to the company concerned, endorsed by the Department Chair and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.y The student may send letters of application

to a maximum of three (3) companies at a time with the department chair s approval.

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESy The department chair will only sign letters

of application from students with fifth year standing.

y The student is responsible for submitting

the letter to the company as well as the other documents required by the company. It is also his responsibility to follow up his application.

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESy One week after acceptance by the company,

the student must inform the department chair of his acceptance by submitting the following:y y y

Letter of Application Waiver Proof of Acceptance (ID, Letter of Acceptance, Contract, etc.).

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESIt must be submitted in a long brown envelope with the following format:2x2 ID Picture Name Section Student No. Name of Company Company Address Date Submitted Company Profile Abstract of Training Progress Report Documentation: Letter of Application Proof of Acceptance Waiver Performance Evaluation Proof of Number of Hours Certificate of Completion Signature of Instructor

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESy If required, the student should submit the

Training Program from the company in addition to the first three documents needed.

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESy The student starts at the recommended date

and makes a day-to-day basis of the progress report noted by the trainee s supervisor and the date it was signed.y The signature can only be on a weekly basis

but the progress report must be on a day-today basis.

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESy The trainee must keep all documents

pertaining to his OJT.y The trainee must comply with the general

guidelines of the company regarding their own OJT program policy.

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESy The student is then required to submit written report outlined as follows:Title Page I. Company Profile II. Abstract of Training III. Progress Report IV. Documentation a. Letter of Application b. Proof of Acceptance c. Training Program d. Certificate of Completion e. Proof of Number of Hours (DTR with signature of supervisor) f. Performance Evaluation g. Manuals/Handouts related to the training V. Research Paper

PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINESy Students must seek approval from the

Department Chair if work (company) is outside of Metro Manila. Violation of this will be given corresponding deductions from the final grade in PRACT/PS.

OJT RESEARCH PAPERy The OJT Research Paper is a proposed improvement in

the company, in terms of their systems, equipment, power conservation program, etc. y The topic should be proposed to the department chair, subject for approval. Research updates are to be submitted periodically. y The OJT Research Group is composed of a maximum of three persons who had their training within the same company but not necessarily of the same department.
