MID WEEK RUN— 15 October, 2014. A lovely day for a drive in the country to Junee for lunch at the Railway Cafe. Thirteen people met at the club rooms at midday. After the usual chit chat we left for Junee at 12.15 and met Maureen and Selby Fitzgerald at the viaduct and they travelled back to Junee with us. Kevin and Joan Longmore were waiting at the cafe for us. A few minutes later Pam and Ray arrived with Geoff and Robyn Petts as passengers then Cheryl and Brian H arrived swelling the group to 21 in 7 old cars and 2 modern. We had an enjoyable lunch leaving 3 pm to go to the Liquorice Factory for coffee and chocolates! We all then made our way home, some travelling to Marrar and then back to Wagga enjoying the lovely green countryside. Another enjoyable day. The next run will be on the 19th November. There will be no run in December or January. We will resume in February 2015. Cheers from Jim

with 99 vehicles registered. Selby and Maurine Fitzgerald are chasing a copy of the CD from T Model Ford 100 year rally at Hawkesbury. We will be assisting on a BBQ on 15th November for NRMA, being held at the Victory Memorial Gardens. John R will be running this-commencing at 11am. SECOND REGO DAY Saturday

22 November, 2014. At the CLUBROOMS Commences 9:00am

LAUGHTER THE BEST MEDICINE A teddy bear is working on a building site. He goes for a tea break and when he returns he notices his pick has been stolen. The bear is angry and reports the theft to the foreman. The foreman grins at the bear and says "Oh, I forgot to tell you, today's the day the teddy bears have their pick nicked."

BENDIGO SWAP 2014 We (Rob, Chris, Pete & Ed) got to Bendigo Friday afternoon with enough time for a bit of shopping, a look at a car display and a bucket of KFC. Our accommodation was within walking distance of the Swap. Saturday was a full day of non stop walking. You cannot do the full Swap justice in one day. We covered most of the outdoor sites, knowing that we could retreat to the sheds if predicted rain arrived. We advertised the Club junkyard at 3 stalls and received a couple of enquiries during the day. Many stalls packed up Saturday afternoon. Rain overnight encouraged more departures on Sunday morning. Other members spotted included IanH, WayneC, MaxC, GeoffG. The max prices would have to go to signs and drums & cans. A good pub feed was had at Violet Town on the trip home, and a quick inspection of progress of an HR panelvan restoration at Mango. Ed.

LAUGHTER THE BEST MEDICINE

HOW TO WASH A CAT

1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.

2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close the lid. You may need to stand on the lid.

4. At this point, the cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a “power wash” and “rinse”.

6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.

7. Stand well back, behind the toilet as far as you can. Quickly lift the lid.

8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.

9. Both the cat and the toilet will be sparkling clean.

* Denotes key holder. The date indicated is the weekend you must mow. If you cannot make it, please contact the key holder to make other arrangements or change places with somebody from another weekend. Phil Hoey mows the main lawns and you only have to do around the gardens, the edges and clean the toilets. The full 2015 mowing roster is in the Member Section of the website.

MOWING ROSTER Despite requests in the August and September Reflections, no additional members registered for the mowing roster. On the positive side, no members on the roster withdrew their names. I have updated the roster through to December 2015 and posted the list on the Club’s web site. 8 weeks notice will continue to be given in Reflection. Ed.

Local Police hunting the 'knitting needle nutter', who has stabbed six people in the rear in the last 48 hours, believe the attacker could be following some kind of pattern.

I was driving this morning when I saw a parked NRMA van. The driver was sobbing uncontrollably and looked very miserable. I thought to myself, that guy's heading for a breakdown. My neighbour knocked on my door at 2:30am this morning. Can you believe that, 2:30am?! Luckily for him I was still up playing my bagpipes.

THE DENILIQUIN VETERAN & VINTAGE CAR CLUB’S 2014 EDWARD RIVER RALLY

The Deniliquin Veteran and Vintage Car Club's 2014 Edward River Rally on 17, 18 and 19 October was enjoyed by John & Julie (Buick), Ray & Pam (Mercedes), Merv & Rhonda (Ford) and Brian & Cheryl (Holden). We left Wagga around 9:00am on Friday, with Ray & Pam following later, and stopped for morning tea at Urana. Lunch followed at Jerilderie. Cabins at the caravan park at Deniliquin provided good accommodation, with the RSL Club just across the road, where we enjoyed dinner. On Saturday morning after registration and a vehicle display (and delicious fresh scones, jam and cream) at TAFE, we departed for Tuppal Woolshed for the food and fibre festival. Here we viewed the 113 year old woolshed with blade and machine shearing in operation and visited the many stalls and displays. Merv was in his element around the vintage machinery. A great day, albeit a bit dusty. We then travelled to Barooga to our accommodation, did a few adjustments to the vehicles. Brian got a lift to the corner shop to buy some liquid refreshments for some who had a hot drive. He arrived safely back with the goods. And then it was out to the impressive Golf Club for our evening meal. Sunday morning took us on a drive to the Rich Glen Olive Farm and then onto the historic Byramine homestead, followed by lunch at Thompsons Beach, Cobram. Julie and John's Buick won a prize for the best vintage vehicle. Our trip home was not without some car problems and changed plans, but we all eventually arrived home safely on Sunday night. Our sincere appreciation is extended to the Deni Club for our great weekend away.
