The mission of the Office of Migrant Education is to provide excellent leadership, technicalassistance, and financial support to improve the educational opportunities and academic success
of migratory children, youth, agricultural workers, fishers, and their families.

FY 2018 MEP Awards • President’s FY 2018 and FY 2019 Budgets proposelevel funding for the MEP: $374.8 million
• Subject to approval by Congress • After several Continuing Resolutions (CRs), arecently signed budget agreement includes an
appropriations deadline of March 23, 2018
• FY 2018 MEP Basic Formula Grants will be issued
on July 1, 2018
• FY 2018 Consortium Incentive Grants (CIGs)

HEP and CAMP • President’s FY 2018 and FY 2019 Budgets propose level funding for HEP and CAMP: $44.6 million
• No HEP and CAMP grant award competition for FY 2018
• FY 2019 competition will open in early to mid-January 2019.
• 2018 HEP and CAMP Annual Directors Meeting, New Directors Orientation and the CoachingInitiative will be held on July 23-26, 2018(Washington, DC)

GPRA Measures 1. Percentage of MEP students that scored at or above
proficient on their State’s annual Reading/LanguageArts assessments in grades 3-8 (currently collected).
2. Percentage of MEP students that scored at or aboveproficient on their State’s annual Mathematicsassessments in grades 3-8 (currently collected).
3. Percentage of MEP students who were enrolled ingrades 7-12, and graduated or were promoted to thenext grade level (will be collected in the future).
4. Percentage of MEP students who entered 11th gradethat had received full credit for Algebra I (will becollected in the future).

Results for GPRAs 1 & 2 (SY 2015-16 CSPR data)
• GPRA 1: 29.4% of migratory students in grades 3 - 8 achieved proficiency inReading/Language Arts, an increase of 1.6% from the previous year.
• GPRA 2: 28.5% of migratory students in gradesthree through eight achieved proficiency inMathematics, an increase of 2.3% from the previous year.

Leading Indicators
1. Percentage of priority for services (PFS) migratory children that receive services.
2. Percentage of grades 7 through 12 migratory children that receive services
3. Percentage of 8th grade migratory children that achieve Mathematics proficiency
4. Percentage of age 3 through 5 migratory children that receive instructional services

Leading Indicator Results • Leading Indicator 1: The MEP provided instructional and/or
support services to 82.3% of PFS children, a trend that hasremained stable for three years.
• Leading Indicator 2: The MEP provided instructional and/orsupport services to 74.6% of secondary students. Thesedata have only been collected for one year so we do not have any trends yet.
• Leading Indicator 3: The percentage of eighth-gradestudents proficient in Mathematics increased by 4.4% fromthe previous year, to 29.3%
• Leading Indicator 4: The percentage of 3 - 5 year olds whoreceived instructional services was 34.3%, a decrease of 4.7% from the previous year.

• Targeted desk monitoring, no site visits • Focus on student records transfer and use of the Migrant Student Information Exchange (MSIX).
