MISSION STATEMENT
We, the Eucharistic and Marian people of the Roman Catholic
Church of St. James the Greater of Coolidge Arizona, are a wor-
shipping faith-filled community, who, empowered by the Holy
Spirit, serve our Lord, Jesus Christ, our community and the Dio-
cese of Tucson. Through love, compassion, and respect, we strive
to be a welcoming community that prays and learns together.

entre el pánico y la paz.

Feliz domingo del Señor hermanos y hermanas: La semana
pasada la palabra de Dios nos habló del buen pastor; pero
en este domingo nos dice que Él, es la vid verdadera y su
Padre es el viñador. Todo sarmiento que en mí no da fruto,
lo corta, y todo el que da fruto, lo poda, para que dé más
fruto. Mis queridos hermanos, a través de esta enseñanza,
Jesús toma elementos familiares, de sus oyentes, elementos que están a la vista de todos, por sus trabajos y su
vida agrícola. Jesús, nos presenta dos cosas en esta enseñanza: 1) El sarmiento seco, no puede dar frutos, por
eso es cortado y desechado. 2) El Sarmiento vivo, que se ha dejado podar, puede dar frutos.
Mis queridos hermanos de Coolidge, en la vida espiritual cuando Dios interviene para confiarnos su cruz como lo
hizo con el Cirineo, no es porque esta irritado con nosotros, sino porque nos llama a la perfección de nuestra
vida. En este Domingo se nos invita a ver reflejada nuestra vida en la acción del viñador con el sarmiento, cuando
lo está podando, le hace llorar, para que la fuerza de la vid no se desperdicie, porque al ser podada, dará más
racimos de lo debido; Pero sino es podado, la vid puede hacerse salvaje o silvestre. Hermanos lo mismo ocurre en
nuestra vida, Recordemos que para vivir correctamente necesitamos renunciar a muchos caprichos personales,
para no hacernos danos y dañar a los demás. Nos invita el Señor, en su nombre hacer decisiones, que afecten
nuestra vida y la vida de la familia positivamente es decir, dejarnos podar.
Mis queridos hermanos; En la vida Espiritual, la Santidad, es asociada a la escultura; A la cual la define Leonardo
da Vinci como: EL ARTE DE QUITAR, Lo que está de más en el mármol o en la piedra. Y Para poderle dar fig-
ura a lo que está en la mente y en el corazón. Lo mismo ocurre en la vida cristiana, para lograr la perfección,
hay que ir quitando y haciendo caer los pedazos que son: las tendencias carnales, ambiciones, malos deseos, or-
gullo, y soberbia; todo lo que impide que nuestra vida sea un fiel reflejo de la imagen que Dios pensó para no-
sotros.
Hermanos en esta mañana Dios te mira como la persona más especial que existe en la tierra, aunque en ti allá
imperfecciones, Dios dice hoy para sus adentros; En este hombre y en esta mujer, veo en sus adentros una crea-
tura bella y nueva, que necesita salir a la luz, porque en el y en ella, está escondida la imagen de mi hijo Jesucris-
to. El Apóstol San Pablo nos dice en: (Romanos 8,29) Nosotros estamos destinados a reproducir la imagen de
nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Por eso mis queridos hermanos, Hoy nos invita el Señor a tomar el cincel, que es la
cruz y con ella nos invita a trabajar en nuestra misma vida. No tengas miedo porque tu eres especial para el Se-
ñor, y el busca en ti, lo que él pensó desde la eternidad. A través de todo sacrificio, Dios, nos está purificando pa-
ra que demos frutos que perduren para siempre.

VIVIR LA LITURGIA
INSPIRACIÓN DE LA SEMANA Cualquiera que esté familiarizado con la jardi-
nería sabe que una poda adecuada y oportuna es esencial. La salud de la planta
depende de ello. Un árbol sin podar puede producir rápidamente retoños que
eliminan muchos de los nutrientes esenciales de su cuerpo. La poda requiere
paciencia y visión. Los estudios revelan que las plantas a menudo responden a la
defensiva al ser podadas, mostrando reacciones similares al dolor o malestar. La
poda no es fácil pero necesaria. Una lección difícil de aprender para nosotros es
que también necesitamos ser podados. Nos volvemos mucho más saludables
cuando permitimos que Dios nos estire, refine y nos forme en la mejor versión
de nosotros mismos. La fruta que luego provenga de nuestras cepas será más abundante, nutritiva y robusta.
Dejados a nuestros propios medios, podemos encontrarnos fácilmente desenfrenados y fuera de control. Sin una
visión adecuada y confianza en el maestro podador, nunca encontraremos la satisfacción que deseamos
desesperadamente. Tampoco la obra del Evangelio tendrá posibilidades de éxito. ©LPi

Happy Sunday of the
Lord brothers and sis-
ters: Last week the
word of God spoke to
us about the good
shepherd; but on this
Sunday he tells us
that he is the true
vine and his Father is
the vinedresser. Every
branch in me that
does not bear fruit, he
cuts, and all that
bears fruit, he prunes, so that it may bear more fruit. My
dear brothers, through this teaching, Jesus takes familiar
elements from his listeners, elements that are visible to
all, through his work and his agricultural life. Jesus pre-
sents two things to us in this teaching. 1) The dry vine
cannot bear fruit, so it is cut and discarded. 2) The live
vine, which has been pruned, can bear fruit.
My dear Coolidge brothers, in the spiritual life when
God intervenes to entrust us with his cross as he did
with the Cyrenean, it is not because he is angry with us,
but because he calls us to the perfection of our life. On
this Sunday we are invited to see our life reflected in the
action of the vine grower with the vine, when he is
pruning it, it makes him cry, so that the strength of the
vine is not wasted, because when pruned, it will give
more bunches; But if it is not pruned, the vine can be
made wild. Brothers, the same thing happens in our life,
let us remember that in order to live correctly we need
to renounce many personal whims, so as not to hurt
ourselves and others. The Lord invites us, in his name, to
make decisions that positively affect our life and the life
of the family, that is, to allow ourselves to be pruned.
My dear brothers; In Spiritual life, Holiness is associated
with a sculpture; which is defined by Leonardo da Vinci
as: THE ART OF REMOVING, what is excess in marble or
stone, is necessary to give shape to what is in the mind
and in the heart. The same happens in the Christian life,
to achieve perfection, you have to remove and tear
down the pieces that are: carnal tendencies, ambitions,
bad desires and pride. Everything that prevents our life
from being a true reflection of the image that God in-
tended for us.
Brothers and sisters on this morning God looks at you
as the most special person that exists on earth, although
there are imperfections in you, God says today to him-
self; In this man and in this woman, I see within them a
beautiful and new creature that needs to come to light,
because in him and in her, the image of my son Jesus
Christ is hidden. The Apostle Saint Paul tells us in:
(Romans 8,29) We are destined to reproduce the image
of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is why my dear brothers,
today the Lord invites us to take up the chisel, which is
the cross and with it he invites us to work in our own
life. Do not be afraid because you are special to the
Lord, and he seeks in you, what he thought from eterni-
ty. Through all sacrifice, God is purifying us so that we
bear fruit that will last forever.

LIVE THE LITURGY
INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK
Anyone familiar with gardening knows that proper and timely pruning is essential. The health of the plant de-
pends upon it. An unpruned tree can quickly produce suckers that zap many of the essential nutrients from its
body. Pruning requires patience and vision. Studies reveal that plants often respond defensively to being pruned,
displaying reactions that are similar to hurt or discomfort. Pruning is not easy but necessary. A hard lesson for us
to learn is that we also need to be pruned. We become far healthier when we allow God to stretch, refine, and
form us into the best version of ourselves. The fruit that then comes from our vines will be more abundant, nutri-
tious, and robust. Left to our own devices we can easily find ourselves running amuck and spiraling out of control.
Without a proper vision and trust in the Master Pruner, we will never find the contentment we desperately desire.
Nor will the work of the Gospel stand a chance of succeeding. ©LPi

◊ SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
• All required registration paperwork must be
completed and submitted to the office in order to
attend the Baptism Preparation Class and to
schedule a Baptism date. Parents and Godparents
must attend a Baptism Class prior to the child’s
Baptism. When choosing godparents, if they are
married, they must be married through the Catholic
Church, if single they must not be living with a
partner. Please contact the office for more
information.
• BAUTISMOS: Toda la documentación requerida

your baptism certificate (An original certificate
complete with church seal from your baptismal
church that has been issued within 6 months of the
date of the wedding; copies are not accepted.) ,
communion, and/or confirmation certificate with
you the day of the appointment.
