Aim of the research is to reveal the developing opportunities of mentor system of socially disadvantagedstudentsaswellastogettoknowtheadaptingproblemsofsociallydisadvantagedstudentsinhighereducationalinstitutionsinordertoguaranteesocialequalopportunities.As a result of researches the main specifications of involved students were surveyed in the interest ofdevelopmentofamentornetwork. Applyingtheuptodatemoleculargeneticmethodsinanimalhusbandry:therearenumerousmethodstoraisetheefficacyofproduction.Withthehelpofthesemethodstheproportionofthedesirableallele(whichpossessesabetterproductivity-rate)couldbeincreasedinthelivestock.WhileexaminingDNApolymorphismindifferentfarm animals (cattle, pork and poultry) we are enabled to construct a certain feed mixture by which thegeneticallydeterminedproteinandfatmetabolismgenesofanimalpopulationcouldbeinfluencedinordertomeetthecriteriaofhumannutrition.Todecreasetheharmfuleffectsofclimatechangeexaminationsweretakenonthelivestock,suchasheatsockandstressproteingenes.Toenrichtheappropriateallelesinthestocksherebyreducethecaducityandwrongqualityanimalnumber.
Healthy(bio)foodproduction:Theuseofherbsandherbalmedicinesinconscioushumannutritionisgettingmoreandmoresignificant.Theuseofherbalmedicineinanimalfeedingcouldelevatethelevelofthelivestock’s

health protection (stress decreasing and regeneration of the hepatic state) also that of the efficiency ofproduction,nutritionalvalueandtasteofcertainproducts(meat,milkandeggs),hencetheagentsoftheherbsfed to the stock are selected in them. The presence of these agents can be proved by analyticalmethods.Examiningthepositiveinfluenceofherbalsupplementationonthedigestionsystembythegeneticexaminationsonthechangesinthecompoundofbacteriaoftheintestinalflora.
Porkasamodelanimalofvarioushumandiseases:thesimilarityinhumanandporcineanatomyandespeciallythatof thedigestivesystemenablesus tomodel the inflammatoryorganism,pathogenbacteria in intestinalflora,andtheseresultscouldalsobewelladoptedinhumanmedicine.

Theaimofthetrialswastodevelopinganutritiontechnologyforreplacingtheimport(GMO)extractedsoybeanmealwithnationalproteinsources(extractedsunflowerandrapeseedmeal,by-passextractedsunflowerandrapeseedmeal,DDGS)withoutdecreasingmilkproduction.Theexperimentsprovedthatextractedsoybeanmealcan be replaced with national protein sources without decreasing production results and change the milkcomposition.

Theaimoftheprojectistoidentifyfactorsaffectingpastureproductionandquality,determinetheextentofrisks related to climate change, and to evaluate pasture yields using different climate scenarios.We aim todevelopstrategicrecommendationsforgrasslandmanagementandpasture-basedanimalproduction,andtoelaboratetechnologicalmitigationproposalsfordifferenttypesofHungariangrasslands,andfortheirutilizationwithdifferentbreedsandagegroupsofcattleandsheep.

Theresearchactivityofourdepartmentisdiverse.Itincludesdatacollection,sensortechniquesandsamplingmethodsneededforprecisionagricultureandsite-specificplantproductionactivities.ThesecomplementedwithUAV (unmanned aerial vehicles or drones) techniques and remote sensing. These results contribute to theexaminationoftheeffectsofclimatechangeinconnectiontothedevelopmentofdecisionsupportmodels(e.g.:DSSAT).Examinationswerecarriedonutilizationofbio-basedmaterials.Theusabilityofoil-seedsandcereals(starch) as raw-materials for biofuels (bio-diesel andbio-ethanol respectively) production are comparedandtested. Research activities were carried out on development of algae bioreactors and the conditions andparametersofalgaeproduction.Examinationsofstarchbasedplasticswerealsocarriedout.Foodtechnologicalandfoodunitoperationalrelatedresearchesincludedryingtestofdifferentcommodities(suchasapplechips)and heat and mass transfer (FE) modeling of the processes. In addition to the optimization of alcoholicfermentation(e.g.theeffectofmicrowavepre-treatment)werealsointhefocusofourinterests.

The400haeducationalfarmoftheFacultyissupervisedbytheDepartmentofPlantGrowingwherewefirstofallcarryoutresearchwithspecialregardtothedevelopmentoftheproductiontechnologyofcerealscoveringthe testing of varieties, investigation of plant protection and soil management methods and fertilizationexperiments.Within plant protection research we put a special emphasis on the field of herbology. Recently the mostpromisingmethodsarerelatedtoprecisionagriculturethatexploitpossibilitiesofferedbygeoinformaticsand

sensor technology resulting in the elaboration of environmentally friendly technologies using low rate ofchemicals.
Horticultural research carried out at the Departmentmostly deals with the pear production of the countrycoveringthestudyofvarietiesandthemanagementoforchards.
Duetothedepletionofplantnutrientsourcesandtheneedofefficientrecyclingtheinclusionofwastesandsecondaryrawmaterialswillbecomemoreandmoreimportantelementofplantnutritiontechnologies.Atthesametime,ithastobedonewithspecialcaretotheenvironmentsafeguardingtheinterestsofnatureandthepriorityofenvironmentalaspects.

TheresearchactivitiesoftheDepartmentarecloselyconnectedtothefieldsofmicroalgalbiotechnologyandplantbiotechnology.Soil isolated microalgae and cyanobacteria have been examined for more than two decades mainly foragricultural purposes. For the experiments, studies and measurements the Department has chemical andmicrobiologicallaboratoriesaswellasspeciallaboratoriesformaintenanceandcultivationofmicroalgaestrains.The special strain culture collection (Mosonmagyaróvár Algal Culture Collection,MACC) contains about onethousandstrainswhichisuniqueinHungary.Alltogether432differentstrainscanbecultivatedundercontrolledtemperature and light conditions in 3 algal culture rooms at the same time. Using these rooms, numerouscomparativebioassaysandalgalexperimentcanbeperformedsimultaneously.
TheDepartmenthasbeendealingwithplantcellandtissueculturessince1986.SeveralstrainsoftheMACCprovedtohavesignificantplanthormone(auxin,cytokinin)productionthustheymaybesuitabletoinfluencethegrowthanddevelopmentoftissueculturedplants.Ourgoalinthisfieldistheadditionalanalysisoffurtherstrainsofouralgaecollectiononcellandtissueculturesofplantspecieswhicharedifficulttobecultivated.

SABANA aims at developing a large-scale integrated microalgae-based biorefinery for the production ofbiostimulants, biopesticides and feed additives, in addition tobiofertilizers and aquafeed, usingonlymarinewaterandnutrientsfromwastewaters(sewage,centrateandpigmanure).Theobjectiveistoachieveazero-waste process at a demonstration scales up to 5 ha sustainable both environmentally and economically. ADemonstrationCentreofthisbiorefinerywillbeoperatedtodemonstratethetechnology,assesstheoperatingcharacteristicsofthesystem,evaluateenvironmentimpactsandcollaboratewithpotentialcustomersforuse.
