Sofia has settled into An-Nur environment very well alhamdulilAllah. In the beginning of her An- Nur days she used to feel a bit emotional, and was not sure how to relate to other children. She was in tears every time any child came close to her or tried to take a toy away from her. She has proved that she came a long way and started to build confidence. Yesterday Sofia was happily playing in the playground with other children. At one point she came to me and said, “Teacher Rosy, Ammar .” and pointed to Ammar. I asked her what Ammar did? Her gesture told me that Ammar tried to take a sand pit toy from her. I asked her what she supposed to say to Ammar? Without answering me she just turned to Ammar and said, “No Ammar ” using her loud voice. Sofia didn’t cry, she stood up for herself and used her words. What a good improvement Sofia! Here is another example. Sofia loves Montessori practical life activities. She is not afraid of trying anything new, no matter how hard it is. At morning tea time our children have to use tongs to serve fruit and crackers themselves. I have been observing her when she was serving herself yesterday. It was not easy for Sofia to use a pair of tongs but she was determined and was able to do it. What an enormous achievements Sofia! I am so proud of you. We are so pleased to see Sofia’s progress in developing confidence and relating to other children. She has a few good friends that she likes to play with and gradually building up trusting relationships with all the children and teachers. Her communication skills also improving, she is using her words more clearly. We will continue to encourage Sofia to develop her confidence further. Written by Teacher Rosy October, 2015
