Jennifer Knapp, MS, LMFT is offering monthly informational parent nights for parents in the Rogers area. Our first meeting was held on September 20th and focused on why teens act the way they do and what is "normal" teen behavior. Parent feedback indicated that the information they received was very helpful and they appreciated being in a room with other parents who are experiencing similar situations at home with their kids. Jennifer covered social media use, healthy sleep habits and "defensive" behaviors. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 18, at RHS in Room C215 and will focus on How to Talk to Teens so Kids Will Listen and How to Listen so Kids Will Talk. There will be a specific focus on improving communication with decreased intensity. Jennifer will share information from 5:30-6:30 pm and then host an optional open question and answer forum from 6:30-7:00 pm.

Is DECA Club a Right Fit for You?
Rogers DECA is a group of students focused on business, marketing, finance and entrepreneurship. You may know us from visiting our school store! The One Stop DECA Shoppe is a fun way we practice business and marketing strategies on our high school campus. We also compete at the district, state and international level each year. Competition events include mock employment interviews, prepared marketing and promotion events as well as chapter projects centered on community involvement. My name is Emma Kangas. I am a senior, the DECA Officer of Finance and a second-year member of the chapter. We are welcoming new members and I want to explain how DECA can be a great fit for your son or daughter. The Rogers DECA Club is open to all high school students. We’d love to help find a competitive event that fits you best! Our new members are so valuable because their new ideas, connections and hard work help make our chapter so successful. Our mentorship program matches a student from our Advanced DECA Class with a small group of first-year competitors to answer their questions and make sure they are comfortable and confident as they attend their first conference. Public speaking, time management and group collaboration are only a few of the skills we practice and grow. The experience I have gained I will use into college and beyond. My DECA experience has been so rewarding and I am looking forward to this coming year and competition season! If you have any questions feel free to contact our advisor, Mrs. Seymour. The best way to reach her is email at [email protected]
