Campus Connections
Midterm time is test time. And, for some college
students, nothing will match that moment of terror
when they look down at their test and find questions
they've never even thought of staring back at them. But
at that same moment, there's usually a student in the
room feeling smug satisfaction at having sussed out the
exact questions in advance. How can you figure out
what's going to be on the midterm—and dramatically
increase your chances of acing that test? Here are 8
clues from behind the curtain:
http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/professors-
guide/2010/10/06/8-clues-to-figuring-out-that-college-
midterm
1. Professors test what they talk—cue in to what
they spend the most time talking about in class.
2. Professors ask what interests them—what’s
repeated over and over again?
3. Professors drop hints—pay attention to the clues.
4. TAs talk too—listen carefully!!!
5. Professors don’t always remake tests—look at
reserves etc. for sample questions
6. Professors are upfront—pay attention to your
syllabus, it’s the roadmap for the class
Zipcar comes to FAU!
R e a d y o r n o t h e r e i t c o m e s … M i d t e r m 2 0 1 4
Wednesday, September 24 marked the University’s
annual Campus Sustainability Day and this year will
be special in that Zipcar, the car-sharing service, has
officially launched for the entire FAU community.
Zipcar, an alternative to bringing a car to school,
gives members 24/7 access to vehicles parked right
on campus. Low hourly ($7.50/hr) and daily ($69/
day) rates include gas, insurance and 180 miles per
day to go wherever you want to go. Members can
reserve cars online or with a smart phone for as
little as an hour or up to seven days.
More information can be found at:

7. Professors recycle—study your notes and
homework questions, they might just
reappear on the test.
8. Professors review—so attend the sessions,
even if you don’t think you need to, you
might just be surprised how much these
help.
Good Luck on your midterms, you
can do it!

DID YOU KNOW?
The Division of Student Affairs offers a wide range of opportunities for
students to become active participants on campus and beyond. Our
focus in Student Affairs is on student success. We want our graduates
to leave their University experience with the knowledge and skills they
need to enter the workforce and contribute to their communities. In
every way possible, we want to enhance the overall learning experience
of our students, both inside and outside of the classroom.
The right to free speech is arguably one of the most cherished and con-
tested freedoms given to Americans under the Bill of Rights. Testing
out the limits and ramifications of what it means to speak our minds
without causing harm to others will likely continue to be a matter for
political and public debate for generations to come. Here at FAU, we
encourage our campus community to exercise this cherished freedom
in lively debate. In fact, we protect and promote that right. We also
require, however, that everyone in the FAU community treat one an-
other in ways that are not unlawful. It is fine, laudable even, to disagree
and dialogue with others about differences of opinion or matters of
conscience, or to engage in intense conversations about academic or
scholarly matters. But such exchanges are most effective when all par-
ticipants respect each other's rights to hold and lawfully express differ-
ent opinions.
