We do this through the Ocean Academy’s Passport for Growth, a unique tool within the industry, which gives everyone in the organisation, regardless of their position, an opportunity to receive formal training and learn the skills required to progress through the company. As an ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) accredited company, we’re committed to the implementation of environmentally sound processes and advise our clients on ways to improve their own environmental procedures too. Our policies are regularly reviewed to ensure they are up to date and we are using the most efficient methods available.

CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT

The World Land Trust

We support the World Land Trust, an international conservation charity that works to save rainforests and other wildlife habitats by working with local organisations to purchase and protect strategic areas of land.

To date, we have helped the WLT buy land in some of South America’s most threatened regions in Paraguay, Brazil, Colombia and Ecuador.

As a rule we:

✔ Do not use aerosols

✔ Use 100% recycled paper products where possible

✔ Ensure all chemicals where used are fully bio-degradable

✔ Use chemicals that are Ph. neutral

✔ Have a full recycling service including glass, cans, wood, metal and WEEE

✔ Ensure onsite waste disposal is carried out according to waste regulations

✔ Strive to achieve zero waste to landfill

✔ Purchase regenerated energy

✔ Optimise buildings to control and reduce energy use

✔ Implement day cleaning where possible

✔ Use bikes, scooters and electric or CO2 efficient vehicles

✔ Use innovative cleaning products to reduce water usage

✔ Apply nanotechnology to achieve more efficient cleaning results

Ocean was established in 1973 as a private limited company with the primary goal of offering high quality services with a personal, hands-on approach.

Today, the company is a successful integrated facilities management provider operated by Ocean Group Holdings Ltd with a £25m turnover, five offices across the UK and 3300 staff.

But we’ve never rested on our laurels. We’ve increased the number of services we provide by investing in our people and growing the company organically. Unlike other providers, we don’t take over smaller companies in a bid to grow our portfolio of services. We build from the inside out, listening to the wants of our customers and then ensuring our teams have the necessary skills to deliver.

Our quality management systems, health and safety measures, commitment to the environment and investment in our people have all been recognised by independent bodies. The achievements of our team members have ensured we have held many of these accreditations for several years and are constantly working towards attaining new ones.
