About the Role The Nursing Development and Saudization unit is responsible for Professional Development of nurses within King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre.

As the Critical Care Nurse Educator you will be responsible for the review and implementation for education in critical care. You will design and teach the education courses for the needs of the staff nurses on the critical care unit to ensure ongoing professional development is achieved and also the highest quality of clinical nursing care is provided.

Duties: Strong clinical experience and broad knowledge in Critical Care including ICU and ED

Ability to determine the learning needs of nursing team

Prepare and present educational material

Undertake all responsibilities as outlined in the job description

To be eligible for this position you will need to have six years of acute care hospital experience with at least two years in critical care. You will also need to hold a Master of Nursing qualification.

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) across the entities of Duke Medicine by providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leaders and researcher. Each supports the development of the bedside nurse, and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice. This occurs through the facilitation of the educational process through assessment, development, planning, implementation and evaluation of competency assessment, continuing education and leadership development. In addition, as a role model of professional behavior, the CNE is instrumental in creating a professional nursing climate within Duke Medicine to meet the needs of the diverse units within DUHS and the global needs of Duke Medicine. Must be able to withstand physical activity which includes the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds. Travel may be required to facilitate collaboration with entities across Duke Medicine.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

Educator: - Conducts needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools

- Assists learners in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes

- Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs

- Coordinates orientation of new staff to the organization

- Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation

Required Qualifications at this Level

Education:BSN required, MSN preferred.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required. BLS required. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and/or NRP Instructor level certification is preferred.

Job Description

Clinical nurse educators are registered nurses who have typically acquired significant experience in the field prior to working in academic or healthcare facility settings to teach nursing. Job Duties

Clinical nurse educators develop curricula for nurse educator programs. They teach healthcare topics to unlicensed nursing students as well as practicing nurses. Class content includes not only didactic coursework but also hands-on clinical experience and lessons in professional responsibility. Pre-Employment Requirements

Becoming a clinical nurse educator requires obtaining at least a bachelor's degree in nursing and then becoming a registered nurse. Licensure is gained by passing the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Then, professional nursing experience is vital. Experience in a hospital or medical facility proves additional competency for a nurse educator and qualifies him or her to cover clinical skills within their program. Registered nurses must then enroll in a graduate-level clinical nurse education program; these are typically post-baccalaureate, although some programs do cater to individuals with a master's degree in nursing.
