Women generally have different goals thanmen. While most men want bulgingbiceps and a powerful chest and back, women are more often concerned with

attaining a slim and toned figure that is lean and legsthat are cellulite-free, a defined midsection, and tonedarms. How does one reach that goal? This is obtainedthrough consistent cardio and strength training regimen.Often women are comfortable with cardio activity buthave a false belief that strength training will cause themto bulk up. Due to the fact that women do not produceas much testosterone as males do, it is impossible for awoman to gain huge amounts of muscle mass. If you've hesitated to start a strength training program, itmay motivate you to know that lifting weights can:

• Increases Your Metabolism:Strength Training tones andincreases overall muscle mass inyour body, which puts yourmetabolism into ‘Full Throttle’!• Reduces Your Body Fat:With your metabolism in ‘FullThrottle’ , you will burn morecalories (and body fat) every day!• Increases The Release OfGrowth Hormones: Growthhormones are a powerful fatburning hormone!• Increases Bone Density:Strength training helps maintainhealthy bones and significantlyreduces the risk of osteoporosis!Osteoporosis is extremely commonin women.• Helps Maintain Healthy Blood:Strength training helps reduceblood pressure, lowers blood fatand ‘bad’ cholesterol levels andhelps maintain a Healthy Heart! • Helps Balance Blood SugarLevels: Significantly reduces the riskof Type 2 Diabetes!• Increases Overall BodyStrength: Strength Training createsgreat body posture, promotesstrong breathing, and significantlyreduces lower back pain!• Increases Flexibility: StrengthTraining increases range of motionwhich helps in day to day mobilityand functionality. It also reduces therisk of injury and falls in the elderly!• Increases Your Confidence andSelf Esteem: Not only does

Strength Training increase the amount of ‘FeelGood’ hormones in your body, but with aleaner, more toned and fit body, you will justnaturally feel better about yourself!

Heart Health Reasons toExerciseMany studies have shown that more womenthan men die each year of coronary heartdisease. The No. 1 way to reduce heartdisease risk factors is to incorporate dailyphysical activity into your lifestyle. Makingfitness a priority with strong workouts canincrease your self-esteem, improve your healthand reduce disease risk factors, leading to ahigher quality of life.

Why is Increasing your HeartRate so Important to yourHealthCardiovascular exercise is important in a woman's life, not only for weight loss and/or maintenance, but forhealth benefits as well. This is because increasing yourheart rate will increase the amount of calories that youburn, along with strengthening your heart andcardiovascular system. I recommend to my clients thatwomen aim for moderately intense exercise 30 minutes aday, five days a week. Great ways to raise your heartrate through interval training is by increasing the inclineon treadmills or elliptical, and increasing your speedwhile training.

Too Busy….Break Up Your RoutineWomen often find themselves busy and overwhelmedwith daily tasks. Try breaking up your workout routine toavoid a busy lifestyle interfering with your fitness goals. Ifneed be try doing two 30-minute workout routines ofcardio or weight training during different times of theday. You could also try for even smaller sessionsthroughout the day, such as a morning and lunchtimewalk with an afternoon weightlifting session.

Achieve New Goals….ChallengeYourselfTry something new or set a goal to challenge andmotivate yourself. For example, start training for amarathon, triathlon or a backpacking trip. If you set yoursights on something that you enjoy, you can use that tomotivate yourself. Make your goal a part of your fitnessroutine on a daily basis. Adopt the belief that workout is

essential to your health and missing workouts is not anoption.

Be Creative…Mix things upAvoid boredom in your physical activity routine bylistening to new music or exercising with a friend.Alternated gym workout routines, trying new machinesand incorporating classes, such as yoga, indoor cycling,Pilates or kickboxing. Going outside for a run, hike orbike ride also prevents boredom by offering a change ofscenery.

Regardless of how much we allknow and understand thatexercise is critical for our long

term health and well-being, so many ofus continue to struggle getting started

with a regularexercise routine, much less stickingwith it for anysignificant length oftime. Just think ofhow many timeshave you started agrueling exerciseroutine, ready tolose the excessweight and get fitfor life, only todiscontinue itbefore a month ortwo passes? Ifyou’ve everstruggled with yourweight, then theanswer is mostlikely “more thanonce.”

I’m going to share five (5) critical stepsto help you pick up an exercise routinethat will help you to lose fat, build

muscle, and most importantly, enjoyexercising (well at least not hate it), sothat your chances of sticking with it aresignificantly increased.

1. Start with something simple andeasy: - For clients that are new andinexperienced, or that have struggledsticking with a routine, I often start witha routine such as this.

• Warm up for 5-10 minutes (legswings; shoulder rotations; light lunges

• Jog or cycle for 10 minuteswithout stopping (may need to pushyourself a bit here)2 CIRCUITS OF THE FOLLOWING EXERCISES

• Squat-reach-press (15-20 reps)• Standing rows (staggered stance) with resistance band (15-20 reps)• Push-ups (feet, knees, or angled) (8-12 reps)• Dead-lift to biceps curl (15-20 reps)• Floor bridge to leg-curl

(15-20 reps)• Lying hip rolls / reverse crunches (15-20 reps)

The total duration of this entire workoutis approximately 30 minutes. Otheroptions for your first workout might be:• Start with 10 squats to a chair orbench. Then go for a 30-minute briskwalk in a nearby public park or aroundthe neighborhood. Finish withanother 10 squats.• Start with 10 push-ups, then go fora 10 minute jog around the block; don’tworry about maintaining a fast pace orbeing able to run the entire way, justfocus on trying to get your heart rate upand getting used to the movement.Finish with another 10 push-ups. • Play a game of pick-up basketball, racquetball or singles tennis.

2. Increment your exercise - Inorder to continue getting results andavoiding plateaus, which often lead tofrustration and eventually quitting, you must increase the amount youare lifting, the distance you arerunning, and or the speed/intensity atwhich you exercise. This should bedone every four to six weeks, butkeep track in order to see yourprogress. Tracking will help keep youfocused on reaching goals, andwatching your progress keep youmotivated, even when you’re feelinglike you’re not losing weight. Istrongly suggest ignoring the scale forthe first 60 days. Our bodies aredeveloping muscle, which weighsmore than fat, so you may not losetotal weight, but your shedding offpounds of fat.

3. Find other people to exercisewith you – Research has shown usover and over again that exercisingwith a partner helps us to not onlystick with it for a longer period oftime, but also to enjoy exercise agreat deal more. With so manypeople struggling with their healthand weight, and the increasing cost ofhealth care, it shouldn’t be too hardto find a fitness partner.

4. Ask for feedback on yourcurrent exercise and dieting habits -Ask friends, family and especially

fitness professionals for feedback andadvice on your exercise routine. Mostpeople will simply tell you that theyare proud of you and that you are offto a great start, but you may also getgood constructive ideas to improveyour progress. Here are a few thingsthat many people do when starting anexercise program that can beimproved upon:• Instead of exercising at the sametime of the day every, try mixing it upevery few days or every couple ofweeks; when working out at the sametime every day, your body will be ableto anticipate the strain and it willresist the small muscle damage whichresults in muscle growth.• Lift weights first, then run or docardio. Most people do it the otherway around. Starting with weightsfirst helps to use up your body’ssugars, so that your body will thenburn fat for fuel when doing cardio.• Drink small amounts of coconutwater, or regular water, duringworkouts versus large energy drinksor smoothies filled withcarbohydrates.

5. Play More / Add SpontaneousExercise – Once you have spent afew months exercising, your bodywill be more able to add variety intoyour exercise, including playingsports like volleyball, basketball, tennis, martial arts, boxing, etc…You’ll also have the confidence tojoin sports leagues, participate inyoga or Zumba classes, and simplyplay more. Alternate your workoutsfor more sports during particularseasons (always maintain at least 1workout per week even when playingsports) for variety and fun, which willhelp you stick to your exerciseroutine and develop a truly healthylifestyle. This is a great time to trysomething you have never had thecourage to do, but always wanted to.

Remember that your ultimategoal is an active lifestyle and overallhealth and well-being. Don’t letbumps in the road discourage you. Toyour success. Feel free to reach out tome with your health and fitnessquestions, as well as your successstories, at [email protected].

Losing the last 10 pounds!Every weight loss process, if treated with the focus and

determination it demands, has amazing results almost allthe time. But there comes a moment when your body hits

a plateau, and it seams like your scale is just stuck. This is acommon thing in every weight loss program. What happens is,that for every pound you lose, your body burns less calories

due to the fact that you are gettinglighter and slimmer, thus making thelast 10 pounds the hardest to shed.Don’t make this a reason to becomefrustrated, as there are some minorthings you can do to alter your existinghealthy habits in order to obtain theresults you wish to see.

Spice up your workouts with circuittraining exercises. Circuit training is ahigh intensity workout that cleverlycombines high intensity cardio exerciseswith strength exercises. Cardio isknown to melt calories, by combiningcardio exercises with strength exercisesyour body will burn thru those extracalories.Stock up on greens and fruits. Nowavailable in wide range of flavorsand colors. These foods are low incalories, filled in nutrients and dietaryfiber that will fill you up withoutoverdoing it. Mix every color under the

rainbow to make sure you have all the different nutrientscontained in each of them. Having a big serving of veggies or

fruit with each meal, lets you fill up on greens and fruitswhenever you feel like you are not satisfied. Keeping a food diary is another good trick you can use inorder to track your eating habits. It is a common thing tosometimes lose track of what exactly goes in your mouth everyday, so by keeping a food diary you can see if there are somethings that could be tweaked. Also include the amount ofwater your drink every day to see if your fluid intake issufficient.Cut back on your portion sizes. You don’t have to quiteating your favorites, just try limiting your portions by eating

from a small plate and cup. Studies have shown that peopletend to eat about 25% less food when eating from a smallerplate. Now that is an easy change!

Even when hitting a plateau, never give up! Stay focusedand dedicated to what you are doing and the results willultimately follow. Keep your diet simple and make sure you getplenty of exercise; run, jump, dance, walk, hike or just aboutwhatever you desire. Most importantly enjoy what you are doing!Forget about how many calories you are burning and enjoy thewarm weather, the fresh air and just have a good time!Live life and love it. Eat well.

The responsibility of raising a family whilemaintaining a career is never easy. Workingmoms often wish there were more time inthe day to spend with their families or getmore done at the office. While there's noway women can add a 25th hour to theirdays, there are ways to manage your timemore effectively so you can get around todoing those things you never seem to havethe time to do.

Get a head start. Perhaps no time of day is more hectic for aworking mother than the morning, when shemust get ready for work while getting thekids ready for school and ensuring they havea good breakfast. Some moms even droptheir youngsters off at school. That's a lot oftasks to tackle before you even sit down inyour office to answer the first e-mail or listento the morning's first voicemail. To makemornings less frantic, get a head start thenight before by laying out the next day'sclothes for you and encouraging your kids todo the same. Preparing lunches, packing agym bag and even setting the coffee makercan all be done the night before to save youtime and make mornings more relaxing.

Take publictransportation to work. Public transportation may not be available toall working mothers, but those with access toa train, subway or bus might want to takeadvantage of that opportunity. If you do, youcan spend your daily commute catching upwith work instead of sitting in traffic behindthe wheel of your car. Even if publictransportation takes a little more time to getyou to work than driving yourself, that extratime can be spent preparing for the dayahead.

Catch up on workover the weekend. The weekends are a time when manyworking mothers look to unwind, butspending an hour or two catching up onwork on a Saturday or Sunday morning is agreat way to make the week a little lesshectic. As the week progresses toward theweekend, set aside certain tasks that aren'turgent but can be easily addressed in an houror so over the weekend. This frees up timeduring the week to tackle larger projects andmight even allow you to leave your officeearlier on weekdays.

Prepare oreven cookmeals inadvance. The days of yore whenmom cooked all the mealsare largely a thing of thepast, as nowadays bothparents tend to sharecooking duties. Moms cancut down on the time ittakes to serve up familymeals on weeknights bycooking meals in advance.Think of dishes you canprepare on the weekendsand then freeze until you'reready to serve. Or purchasea slow cooker that slowlycooks your meal all daywhile you're out andabout. By the time you andyour family arrive home atnight, dinner will be readyand you will have moretime to relax after a longday.

Share the work. Sharing your workload pertains to bothhome and the office. At home, don'tfeel like you have to be a superherocapable of handling all of thehousehold tasks like cooking, cleaningand walking the dog on your own.Share these responsibilities with yourspouse and even your children whenthey're old enough. At the office, don'tbe afraid to delegate tasks to yourcoworkers or ask for favors fromcoworkers who might be able to help.

Managing time effectively is of paramountimportance for working mothers. Learning todo so effectively can make for a betterpersonal as well as professional life. (MS)

Mother’s Day

Get a head start. Perhaps no timeof day is morehectic for aworking motherthan the morning, when she mustget ready for workwhile getting thekids ready forschool andensuring theyhave a goodbreakfast. Whether she's still hard atwork raising children or herkids have grown up and

now have children of their own, Momdeserves our best efforts comeMother's Day. And while traditionalgifts like flowers and chocolate mightmake for thoughtful Mother's Daygifts, those who want to go the extramile for Mom this year can considerthe following unique gift ideas.

Concert tickets:Many adults recall the days of theiryouth when Mom would relax whilelistening to some of her favorite musicon a lazy summer afternoon. Why nottake a stroll down Memory Lane andtake Mom to see one of her favoriteacts in concert? Even if you haveoutgrown Mom's musical tastes, shewill still appreciate the chance tospend an evening out on the townwith her kids and some good music.

Theater tickets: If Mom is a fan of live theater then

nothing will elicit a bigger smile thantickets to a Broadway show she hashad her eyes on. If Broadway is a bittoo far for you to travel, do your

homework and find a travelingproduction of a former Broadwayshow. Such productions often featuremany of the same actors who made

the play famous on Broadway soyou're still bound to see anunforgettable show Mom will love.

Parts unknown:Moms who love to travel andexperience other cultures wouldcertainly appreciate a trip abroad or adomestic getaway to a region of thecountry they have yet toexplore. Before booking any such trips, speak to your Mom and ask if there'sanywhere in particular she'd like togo. Such trips can be expensive, soadults might want to speak to theirsiblings and finance such an excursiontogether.

Spa treatment:If Mom is still as active as ever, then aday of pampering at a nearby spa issure to please. Many luxury spas offerpackages, especially around Mother'sDay, that make a full-on spa treatmenta more affordable gift. Men andwomen can even accompany Mom onher trip and reap the rewards of beingsuch a thoughtful son or daughter.(MS)

A mi madre

En ángel te has convertido.

Quisiera ahora poderte abrazar. Te busco, te llamo. No te encuentro. Dime... ¿Cómo me he de consolar?

Approximately one in 200, or approximately 0.5percent of high school senior boys playinginterscholastic baseball will eventually bedrafted by an MLB team. What happens whenyou are surrounded by a good family, focus on

your goals, and throw a 96 mph fastball? You end uppitching in the big leagues! This is the story of HectorSantiago, pitcher for the White Sox.

Hector is from Newark, New Jersey, where his parentswho taught him the value of family and focus raised him.Hector says, “my family is very close, and we were alwaystogether. My dad used to take us to play baseball and eventhough we grew up in a not so great neighborhood, Ididn’t have time to get into trouble, because I would beplaying baseball all day with my dad, and by the time I gothome most nights I was just exhausted.”

Baseball came easy to Hector in high school; he wasthe star player. Because of this, he started to slack off onhis grades and didn’t take school very seriously. Then oneday he was approached by a Major League scout who toldhim the White Sox were interested in him, but that theyonly draft players who are committed and focused on thethings that matter such as school and family. ImmediatelyHector began to focus on getting better grades, and he did.Hector made up his mind that he wanted to be drafted bythe White Sox, and that nothing would get in the way ofthis happening. Not only did he focus on improvingacademically, he worked harder than ever on the field. “Ihad at least five teammates who I think were a lot betterthan me at baseball. The difference between them and mewas focus. After games, most of them would go out andparty or hang out. I would stay on the field for hours aftergames, just practicing and trying to get better.” Well, it haspaid off for Hector, and today he is one of the promisingyoung arms for the Chicago White Sox.

Hector realized the importance of helping people andgiving back, this is why he started Santiago’s Soldiers.Through Santiago’s Soldiers Hector is helping people withspecial needs, little leaguers from low-income families, andother worthy causes in the Chicagoland area. His messageto people and especially youth is, “whatever you’re goingto do, be focused and committed to it, otherwise don’t doit at all. If you really want to achieve something, no onecan stop you except yourself. They key is to stay focusedon doing it.”

Inmediatamente Héctor comenzó a

T here is no beauty without ashes, noglory without sacrifice. Strength andbravado - such is the inheritance from

the women in our far away past. Take for instance, the women of the

Aztec empire. Thesewomen are often viewed assimple weavers of textilesand taking care of thehome. However, thesewomen were part of thebrute work force. Theyworked as merchants, traders, scribes, courtesans, healers and midwives.Even though it was asociety dominated by men, women had a great deal ofpower as well. Aztecwomen often ranbusinesses out of their

homes, and had a lot of influence in the familyand the raising of children. Women who wereof noble birth were often used as scribes forthe emperor.

In the Mayan culture women carried outall of the domestic duties in their household.Daily tasks included the raising of children, preparing foods, raising household animalsand making clothing and other textiles. AMayan woman would follow her husband andhelp him dig or plow a field with rudimentarytools. Mayan women also played a prominentrole in the court system. They influenced stateaffairs at the highest level. In times of war, herrole was to help her husband prepare forbattle.

Taino natives lived in peace and harmonybefore the Europeans invaded the tiny islandsof Puerto Rico, Cuba and even the northerncoast of South America. Taino society wasmatrilineal. Name and status were inheritedfrom ones mother. Social standing amongwomen outranked men. Mothers andgrandmothers of chiefs were especiallypowerful. Women had significant roles in

meetings and were present on many occasionsas gift givers (Well, that explains why I neverallow anyone to leave my house empty-handed). Taino women were also skilled inagriculture.

Last, but not least, I would like to bringyour attention to the strong and relentlesswomen who survived the Great Depression ofthe 1930’s. In 1933, Eleanor Roosevelt calledupon the women to help pull the countrythrough its devastating economic crisis. “Thewomen know that life must go on and theneeds of life must be met and it is theircourage and determination which, time andagain, have pulled us through worse crisesthan the present one.” Eleanor Rooseveltgave voice to those women who were quicklybecoming invisible. Thesewere women who werewidowed, divorced, orabandoned by theirhusbands. Many sufferedunimaginable hardships.

All of these womenwithstood the challengesof their times and heldtheir lives and homestogether with tremendousstrength and endurance.Women who enduredslavery, rape, publichumiliation and servanthood managed to leave alegacy of courage andstrength to theirdescendants. Women onthe verge of destitution, somehow found an inneranger that prompted themto get up and moveforward. If any one groupin society understood theterm “man up”, it wasthem. To these brave ones,we say “Happy Mother’sDay”.

(MS)

Prom night is an important event in ateenager's life that often createsmemories that last forever. But studies

indicate that proms are growing more andmore expensive, alienating students whocannot afford the hefty tab.Information fromVisa says that, in 2012, the average teenspent around $800 on his or her promexperience. Many families are forced to opentheir wallets to accommodate the prom costs.Tickets, attire, shoes, accessories, flowers, limousines, photographers, after-parties,salon pampering, and so many other

traditions of prom night have started to makethis rite of passage unaffordable for manystudents.

Nearly one-quarter of American studentsare forced to stay home simply because theycannot afford the prom, especially in thiseconomic climate."I went to a small, privateacademy with a lofty tuition," offers MarieM. from Brooklyn, N.Y. "The school hostedthe prom at an expensive hotel in Manhattan, which was out of reach for me, so I opted notto go due to ticket expense and the cost ofgetting to the location."Many proms createpressure where teenagers feel the need tooutdo one another more and more. From

outside event planners to lavish locales, theparties get increasingly elaborate every year. Some proms go so far as to have bars, icesculptures, lounges, tents, and multiplewardrobe changes. Other prom parties are atvenues several miles away from school homebase, necessitating some sort oftransportation. This often comes in the wayof pricey rental cars and limousines.Forstudents who cannot afford all of theextravagances of the prom, there are stillways to go. While ticket price cannot benegotiated, the choice in wardrobe, transportation and other "necessities" can becatered to a certain budget. (MS)

“Living Large in aMini Kind of Way”

Many of you are not aware thatthe City of Berwyn has atheater within its borders.

That is unless you have read myreviews of thesteady work thiscompany providestheir audiences. The 16th StreetTheater, located inthe lower level ofthe Berwyn ParkDistrict 2ndbuilding at 6420West 16th Street(perfect for thename) just a fewblocks west ofAustin Blvd., is easyto get to and worth

the trip. Each year, they follow atheme. This is the 6th season for thiscompany and the theme is “TheAmerican Dream”. Following on theheels of their wonderful production oftheir extended, sold out run of“Empanada for a Dream”, a one manshow, they are presenting “Living Largein a Mini Kind of Way” written byDiane Rodriguez.

Last April, this play was presentedby Teatro Luna ( the only all femaleLatina theater company in the area) at

The Viaduct Theatre located on theNorth Side of Chicago. Director, AnnFilmer, felt that moving this play to hermore intimate 16th Street Theater stagewould make the story even moremeaningful- she was right. This is a storythat needs to allow us to peer into thefaces of the actors, who are telling us astory, or as I said in my earlier reviewstories. The stories are about thewomen mostly, but unlike most ofTeatro Luna’s works, this one includes aman (or it could be two, if you countthe spirits). Each of these women has astory and this 80-minute play takes usinto their lives and their relationshipswith each other.

The main character is Lilycharmingly played by Rose Guccione.Lily is recently widowed. She has alovely home in a subdivision that has anactive homeowners association (ofwhich she wants to be president). HerHusband was ill for awhile and duringthis time, she hired a Mexican girl, LittleMaria (again played by the lovelyAmanda De La Guardia), whose oldersister, Big Maria (returning MirandaGonzalez, as feisty as ever) has beencaring for Lily’s mother at her house. These are immigrants from Mexico, who have told Lily that they have theirpapers, but as it turns out, they do not. They are “living Large”, but as it turnsout, they are not living quite as large asthey would like to.

EntertainmentEntretenimiento

Lilly, it turns out has some deeproots as her childhood was nothingclose to the life that her Joe gave her.Lily also has a sister, Nellie (played in thisversion by Urban Theatre’s MarilynCamacho) a sexy, woman who dresseslike a teen and cares only about whatshe can buy . Her husband Sammy (thealways reliable Madrid St.Angelo, whoalso plays Joe’s spirit in Lily’s visions), aCuban, trusts no one and intends tokeep his promise to Joe, to watch overLily and make sure she is okay. As thestory goes on, Lily, now alone, offersboth Marias, and big Maria’s daughter(who we never see) the opportunity tomove out of their crowded apartmentand move in with her, but they refuse. They are trying to build their own“Living Large” way of life.

This is the story of two sets ofMexican-American sisters, those whohave been raised in the United Statesand the others who have found a way toget here. The two Marias, though inorder to truly “live large” must obtain a9-digit number- a social security card. Tryto imagine your life without one and theproblems and obstacles you would faceon a daily basis- that is the plight ofmany Mexican-Americans, some bornand raised here, and yet, the magical 9digit card is out of their reach. That is the

main crux of the story, but Rodriguezalso touches on relationships betweenthe two pairs of sisters. Lily and Nelliehave their set of problems, but the twoMarias, even larger. Big Maria, in orderto get a job steals Joe’s Social Securitycard and uses it. Sammy discovers thisand stirs up what this could do to theirfamily. Meanwhile, Sammy also finds outthat during Joe’s illness, none of thehousehold bills were being handled andLily, who thought she was indeed “livinglarge” is in a great deal of debt.

This story is based on a real lifesituation, as most of Teatro Luna’s works

are. In fact, many plays that we see haveideas that are created by real lifesituations in the playwrights lives, butbecause the topic of this one is very nearand dear to Americans, due to what istaking place, this particular play hasmore meaning to each and everyaudience member. For those of you whosaw the previous production, be advisedthat Ms. Rodriguez has made somechanges in the script and in particularthe ending (much happier) and underthe direction of Ms Filmer in this muchcozier venue, I think the show playsbetter. Also be advised that while the

show is in English, there are manysprinklings of Spanish, but fear not, ifyou listen with care and watch theactors and what they do, you will get it!

The set, a much smaller version ofthe original (Jessica Kuehnau Wardell) isthe back door of the house, a backyardwith a fence and a shed> The lighting isby Mac Vaughey, and once again, worksbetter in this venue. The costumes byChristine Pascual, sound by StevenYaussi and props by Jesse Gaffney arethe finishing touches on a recipe for 80minutes of laughing and learning abouta real life situation- a sort of “SassyComedy” with a real life immigrationproblem.

“Living Large” will continue atThe 16th Street Theater through May11th with performances as follows:Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m.Saturdays at 5 and 8 p.m.Maybe they will add more shows (Iwould love to see Sundays added tothe mix)

Tickets (open seating) are a mere $18.00and can be purchased at the actualBerwyn Park District office at 1619Wesley Avenue, by phone at 708-795-6704 or online atwww.16thstreettheater.org

S ome studies have shown thatbacteria in the mouth can moveinto the bloodstream and increase

the risk of heart disease and stroke. There is research to both support andrefute the possible link betweenperiodontal (gum) disease andcardiovascular disease, and more studiesare needed to see how the two may belinked. Regardless of the relationship, maintaining optimal oral hygiene is animportant component of your overallhealth.
