NTA (National Testing Agency) has conducted the National Eligibility cum
Entrance Test (NEET) 2019 on May 5. The NEET entrance exam is being held as
an entrance-cum-eligibility test for admission to both medical and dental
undergraduate courses offered by colleges across the country. More than 1.5
million students from across the country appeared for the NEET UG 2019.
According to our top most NEET faculty, “The questions in Physics were more
conceptual and application based”. The Physics paper had 33 % questions from
Mechanics and rest from the other part. About 42 % of the questions were
easy, 43 % moderate and another 15 % difficult. The Chemistry and Biology
portion were easy to crack.” Overall the exam was moderate and most of the
questions were based on NCERT text books.
Paper Format
The paper was conducted from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.The NEET exam 2019 was
conducted in offline mode (pen-paper based) and paper pattern was
unchanged from last year. The question paper of NEET 2019 comprised of 180
multiple choice questions 45 each in Physics, Chemistry and 90 questions in
Biology, each carrying a reward of 4 marks for the correct answer and
deduction of 1 mark for every incorrect answer. NEET question paper 2019 was
available in 11 different languages including English, Hindi, Urdu, and eight
regional languages.
Overall Difficulty Analysis
In NEET exam, candidates found questions from Physics are tough as compared
to the other two subjects –Biology and Chemistry. The Physics section had a
total of 45 multiple choice questions from class 11 and 12 syllabus. Among the
total questions, 3 were difficult and tricky while 27 questions were of medium
difficulty level and remaining 15 questions were easy. The table below shows
the distribution of questions from class 11 and 12 according to their level of
difficulty.

NEET qualifying cut-off across years
It was observed that the difficulty level of Chemistry and Biology is similar to
last year’s paper whereas Physics paper was more conceptual and application
based. Based on the above analysis, we feel that the paper was easy than the
last year, therefore the cut-off should increase.
