FROM THE ARTISTIC/MANAGING DIRECTORWelcome to “Leading Ladies.” It has been a truly fun show to put together with this great group of actors. We hope you enjoy it and if you do, tell your friends.

Each of you are such an important part of the success of your community theater. As we continue to expand our services to area patrons, we invite you to take a look at the progress we are making on the new digital theater in part of the former JC Penney space just north of the public restrooms through the

Jane West Gallery. When complete, the new theater will be used for digital film screening, and is also designed to present small live theatrical productions. We need your help to see the project to completion.

Some of you took the opportunity to walk through the new theater during the run of “Little Shop of Horrors.” If you didn’t, we invite you to do so during intermission of this performance. Take a stroll through the new storage space and what will be the new 90+ seat, stadium-style digital theater. Please stop by. Come see what we have accomplished to date and our vision for the future with your help.

Our next production, “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas,” will be November 12 – 16. See more information about the cast and box office opening dates on page 8. We are excited to work with NSU on this holiday classic as the Johnson Fine Arts Center undergoes renovations. Our subscribers have already been asking about tickets and we expect sales to be brisk for this holiday show, so we are opening the box office earlier than usual.

And then there is ACT’s YPT production, “Girl Power: Three Short Plays for Girls” October 6-8. For more information, see page 9. So, there is a lot going on at ACT. “Get in the ACT!” You’ll be glad you did. Thanks for attending “Leading Ladies” and we’ll see you at “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.” Thanks again for your support.

CAST AND CREW NOTES

SARAH HONERMAN (Meg) is thrilled to be a part of the “Leading Ladies” cast! She spends her days sharing her love of literature (particularly Shakespeare) with the freshmen and sophomores in her classes at Groton Area High School. She’s excited to act alongside her best friend and husband, Seth.

SETH M. HONERMAN (Leo) is a musical theater graduate of Northern State University, where he now works as a Residence Hall Director. Happily married to Sarah, he loves being able to share his love of theater with family. Past credits include “The Drowsy Chaperone” (NSU 2010) “The 39 Steps” (ACT 2011), “The Fantasticks” (Northern Fort Playhouse 2010) “Spamalot” (ACT 2012) and “Leading Ladies” (Northern Fort Playhouse 2010).

JACOB WOMACK (Jack) is a 16-year-old junior at Central High School. He performs in plays and Oral Interpretation whenever he gets a chance. The highlights of his career so far have been playing the lead role in ACT’s 2012 production of “Second Samuel” and being in the top 12 at the National Speech Tournament. Someday, he hopes to become an actor for major films.

KELSEY PAPKE (Audrey) is a graduate of NSU’s Theatre department and has been involved in theater since she was in high school in her hometown of Watertown, SD. She works as a full time teller at Dacotah Bank East. When she is not working or onstage, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs. She was last seen as Crystal in this season’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”

CHRIS JUNG (Duncan) is happy to hit the stage once again in his third production at ACT, last appearing in the 2012 production of “Second Samuel” as June. By day, Chris is an attorney next door at Siegel, Barnett & Schutz. In his down time, Chris enjoys traveling, attending NSU games and hanging out with his little nephew, Carter.

SUSIE EWINGER (Florence/scenic artist) began volunteering with ACT in 1988’s production of “Peter Pan” and has been an active volunteer both onstage and offstage for over 25 years. She recently became a recipient of the Donald H. Hall Lifetime Achievement Award for her service to ACT. She was last seen onstage as Marcela in “Second Samuel” (2012).

ABERDEEN COMMUNITY THEATRE | 7

WARREN REDMOND (Doc) practiced medicine in Aberdeen for 32 years before recently retiring. He says that “Doc is an old country doctor. I had to dig down really deep to capture the essence of being a physician.” He has appeared in numerous productions at ACT and was last seen on stage as Walter in last season’s production of “Becky’s New Car.” The theater offers him a way to interact with people on a completely different level, along with providing an opportunity to be a different person for a short time.

TYSON MEYER (Butch) is a student of the NSU Theater department. He has been involved in theatre for 4 years, starting at Northern and branching into ACT. When he’s not in class or in a production, he enjoys spending time with his fiancée, friends and family. He was last heard on ACT’s stage as the voice of Audrey II in this season’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”

JAMES L. WALKER (director) is an Aberdeen native. He had acted, directed and adjudicated professionally for more than 30 years and has been ACT’s artistic/managing director for 28 years. He has earned numerous directing and scenic design awards. Jim was appointed by the governor to the South Dakota Arts Council in 2008 and is a member of the American Association of Community Theatre’s board of directors.

BRIAN T. SCHULTZ (scenic design/technical director) resides in Aberdeen with his wife, Juli, and two daughters. He is also ACT’s education director and SBLT’s director. Schultz received Best Supporting Actor at the AACT 2009 national fest for his role as Russ Renner in ACT’s “How to Talk Minnesotan: The Musical” and Comprehensive Creativity in the 2013 AACT Region V festival for his work on “The Top Job!”

HEIDI HEPOLA (technical assistant) a Watertown native, started with ACT in May 2010 with set construction for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” She received a Bachelor of Arts in Technical Theatre and a minor in Chinese Studies from the University of North Dakota and has been on the staff of the Huron (Ohio) Playhouse, Sieur Du Luth Summer Arts Festival, Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, WI and the Des Moines Metro Opera.

KATI BACHMAYER (assistant director/stage manager/dance choreographer) is from Aberdeen and has volunteered at ACT since 1997. Her first ACT show was “Guys & Dolls,” and her latest stage performance was in “Top Job!” She is enjoying working behind the scenes as assistant director and choreographer. She currently works at Senator Tim Johnson’s office and will miss his leadership and her co-workers when he retires.

CAST AND CREW NOTES

MARILYN DAVIS (costumer) made her ACT main stage costuming debut for “Anything Goes” (2006), after costuming many YPT shows. Since then, she has costumed more than 25 shows. Davis received Best Costumes at the 2009 AACT Region V festival for her work in ACT’s “How to Talk Minnesotan: The Musical.”

BRENDA WEISHAAR (props mistress), an Aberdeen native, debuted with ACT a little more than a quarter of a century ago as a chorus member in ACT’s 1988 production of “Peter Pan.” She has enjoyed being a volunteer on several productions, either onstage or behind the scenes throughout those many, many, many years.

NANCY MILLER (props mistress) is a long-time ACT volunteer both onstage and behind-the-scenes. A native of Aberdeen, she works at NSU’s library and has two sons, Bryan and Lucas.

BRIGGS TOPLE (Light/sound board operator) has appeared in around 20 shows in the Aberdeen community. He has worked behind-the-scenes as a crew member in “The Church Basement Ladies in A Mighty Fortress Is Our Basement” and “Little Shop of Horrors.” In addition to volunteering at ACT, he is currently preparing for his role of Father Drobney in CHS’s “Don’t Drink the Water.”
