FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
THEME: BE WATCHFUL
With God revealing himself in the Lord Jesus, we Christians believe
that there is a future for human beings. Life is not an absurdity. Death
is not “a transition from being into nothingness,” as some contempo-
rary “sages” allege. Life has meaning.
In the confusion of daily life, the Lord Jesus comes to save us from
apparent absurdity, from dangerous inertia and the numbness that the
sedatives of modern life can bring about. The only prerequisite is that
we be watchful and open up to Him and His message found in the
Scriptures. When He (the Lord Jesus) comes, may he find us watch-
ing in prayer, our hearts filled with wonder and praise.

Revelándose Dios en el Señor Jesús, nosotros los Cristianos creemos
que hay futuro para los seres humanos. La vida no es absurda. La
muerte no es "una transición de ser a la nada," como algunos "sabios"
contemporáneos alegan. La vida tiene significado.
En la confusión de la vida cotidiana, el Señor Jesús viene a salvarnos
del aparente absurdo, de la inercia peligrosa y del entumecimiento que
los sedantes de la vida moderna pueden provocar. El único requisito es
que estemos atentos y abiertos a Él y a su mensaje encontrado en las
Escrituras. Cuando Él (el Señor Jesús) venga, nos encontrará vigilan-
tes en oración, con nuestros corazones llenos de maravilla y alabanza. .

Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Communion): Iniciación Cristiana (Bautismo, Confirmación, Comunión):
Adults: Participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA). Infants to age 5: Parents and Godparents participate in Baptism program. Children (Grades 1-12): Participate in Religious Education Program. Please make an appointment to discuss preparation for the sacraments.

Infant baptisms are held once a month in English and once a month in Spanish. Parents must consult with a priest before fixing a date.

Couples planning to be married should call for an appointment at least six months prior to the wedding. Couples should consult with a priest before fixing a date with the reception hall.

Finalmente, la temporada de Adviento es la historia
del amor ilimitado de Dios por nosotros. El desafío del
Adviento es seguir viviendo, creyendo y esperando en
ese amor. Esto no es fácil. Las fuerzas de la oscuridad
son fuertes. El mundo busca llenarnos de ídolos en
lugar del Dios amoroso. Oremos para que la gracia de
este tiempo nos ayude a perseverar hasta que veamos a
Dios tal como es. Amén.

Finally, the season of Advent is the story of God’s
unbounded love for us. The challenge of Advent is
to continue to live in, believe in and hope in that
love. This is not easy. The forces of darkness are
strong. The world seeks to fill us up with idols in
place of the loving God. Let us pray that the grace
of this season will help us to persevere until we see
God as he is. Amen

CHRISTMAS WREATHS SALE The Boy Scouts will be selling their annual Christ-mas door wreaths next weekend, Dec. 3-4 and Dec. 10-11 at the end of each Mass. Monies raised will be used to offset equipment and program ex-penses. The Boy Scout Troop thanks you for your support!
