WEBSITES

A recent survey showed that Britons are so lazy that one in six

cannot be bothered to change the television channel if the

remote control is broken and would rather continue watching

the same channel than getting up and switching to another

programme.

59% of those surveyed said that they took the lift instead of

walking up even two flights of stairs, and 52% of dog owners

said they could not be bothered to walk their pet. 64% of

parents were too tired to play with their children -- fuelling

concern over child obesity, which already afflicts one in six

pre-school infants.

RESOLUTIONS FITNESS – Simone Rank

http://www.resolutionsfitness.org

“I love the part where she acknowledged the client of the month and the

fact that these „winners‟ get cool prizes….great that she has a picture of

her REPs certificate….. testimonials are essential to any site and she has

them…added plus is the 24/7 email support offer…all in all a great site”

We asked industry experts to take a look at the websites of several personal

trainers and to pick out what they most liked about them.

RESULTS PERSONAL TRAINING – George Pepperell

http://www.resultspt.co.nz/

“Like that he has his prices listed and an unlimited boot camp session

price..cool idea…boot camps were well described to be inviting for both

the super fit and not so fit…don‟t normally like home pages that start by

playing a video, but loved this one! Good effort”

FITNESS 4 ALL – Tom Blackhall

http://www.fitness4all.co.nz

“Liked the testimonials scattered throughout…plus mentions his awards

and qualifications…very reassuring for people…the picture of the

vibration machine would definitely attract a lot of people as the public

have heard so much about them ….natural photos of people smiling and

Tom being appropriately involved with them…works well”

Are we like this?

The Gift of Fitness

Try something different!

With Christmas around the corner

why not organise your break up

event at a climbing wall?

The Roxx in Christchurch offers a

super safe, easy to use system

called Clip and Climb where you

don‟t have to belay your clients.

Whether you are a climber or not

won‟t matter and this empowering,

fun event will have your clients

positively raving about you for

weeks.

www.theroxx.co.nz

FOR YOUR MEMBERS

While it might be tempting to give your clients a complimentary

training session as a Christmas present, ask yourself, would you

give your client a bottle of wine worth the same price as your

session? Equivalent to maybe a $75 bottle of wine this is not an

expense most trainers would be willing to bear and in fact most

clients would probably agree that a $75 bottle of wine is an

excessive gift. So why is it that we would give a session away that

has the same value and possibly risk de-valuing our sessions?

Option 1: Consider giving your clients something less expensive

but still a gift related to fitness. Pedometers, rock climbing

vouchers, online food diary access, a month‟s hire of a home piece

of fitness equipment or home-made muesli (with the recipe

attached) will probably all have your clients raving about you and

cost you half the price of a session.

For instance do a 1-1 consultation „goal setting‟ session with them or

give them a gift voucher for a group training session if they haven‟t

yet participated in one of these. Hopefully they will then appreciate

the value of these sessions and will be more open to using them in

the future.

Make all vouchers valid until say Feb 1st 2010 in the hope that it

helps them get back into fitness early on in the New Year and/or is

for use during your „slow time‟ of the year. As another option you

could make vouchers valid only if your client brings along someone

else to the session with them!

Christmas Hampers

Putting together a Christmas hamper

can be a great way to raise money for

your favorite charity and promote your

business.

Include discount vouchers for your

services and those of the businesses

you are affiliated with. Get out and

about with your Christmas hat on and

sell tickets to everyone inclusive of

local businesses. Encourage clients to

sell tickets for you as well!

The legal requirements are minimal

For all the details check out

http://www.gamblingcommission.govt.nz/.

Option 2: If you really want to give clients a

complimentary session then give them a voucher for

a different type of session with you, one you know

they need but which they may have had trouble

seeing the value of in the past.
