He is instrumental in shaping our profession into an honorable and reliable practice - worldwide. David is responsible for the some of the tallest building structures in the world. As Past Director at Arup’s Advanced Technology and Research and as their past Global Structural Skills Network Leader, David has performed high profile technical reviews, forensic analysis, and audits of many unique and cutting-edge structural systems. He has compiled a list of invaluable lessons learnt some of which may have posed themselves as questions while in his role as a Member Examiner at the Institution of Structural Engineer. On November 20, during his visit to Vancouver, David will present some of these many ‘Vital Lessons for Structural Engineers’ from his collection. SEABC invites all members to join us at this rare opportunity to meet with Dr. David Vesey and experience the art of work-life balance together with engineering excellence. Dr. David Vesey, BS, PhD, P.Eng. IStructE (Fellow), Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Fellow) David is a retired Civil and Structural Engineer and past Global Structural Skills Network Leader with Arup in UK, Hong Kong, China. He has worked on notable projects worldwide – in Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa and Americas. He is a Registered Structural Engineer in the Peoples Republic of China, a Member of Examiners Panel for IStructE, Chief Examiner for Associate membership exams, and Examiner for IStructE’s initial five Mutual Recognition tests with NABERS, China. He has been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has produced and contributed to numerous technical papers on topics ranging from Tall Buildings, to Long-Span Structures to Finite Element Analysis.
