Lighting of the Candles

Placing the Bible

Prayer of ConfessionGracious and Loving God, day after day we hear of nations and cities that are ravaged with trouble and disgrace. We see images of people struggling to survive, defenseless and destitute. Unlike Nehemiah we have not wept over what we see. We confess that often we work hard to avoid the brokenness around us. We are quick to place blame and slow to offer blessing. Forgive us for the ways we turn our eyes from injustice. Renew our hearts that we might yearn to see this world made right and be people through whom justice is done. Empower us for this task as we continue our confession in silence.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts

as we forgive our debtors,And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evilFor Thine is the kingdom and the

power and the glory forever. Amen.

Offering Our GiftsSaints Bound for Heavenarr. Mack Wilberg

Our bondage it shall end by and by, by and by.

From Egypt’s yoke set free, hail the glorious jubilee,

And to Canaan we’ll return by and by, by and by.

Our deliverer he shall come by and by, by and by.

And our sorrows have an end with our threescore years and ten,

And vast glory crown the day by and by, by and by.

And when to Jordan’s floods we are come, we are come.

Jehovah rules the tide and the waters he’ll divide,

And the ransomed host shall shout “We are come, we are come.”

Then with all the happy throng we’ll rejoice, we’ll rejoice.

Shouting glory to our King, till the vaults of heaven ring,

And through all eternity we’ll rejoice, we’ll rejoice.

Justice is more than a social, political or legal topic. It is making what is broken whole and complete and is a glimpse at the heart of God.

Join us in Fellowship Hall today as we focus on justice. Follow the stories of six individuals in our Journey to Justice exhibit, meet with some of Peachtree’s Mission partners, and shop for beautiful handmade items at the Fair Trade Marketplace.
