Nourish Your Body Mind Soul is a monthly publication dedicated to empowering readers with knowledge that can help them feel ful-
filled on this journey called life. All articles are the express views and beliefs of the writer and are provided as guidelines to the readers. Ultimately each reader is responsible for their own choices and decisions. The articles are
meant as guidelines and the reader is encouraged to expand on the knowledge presented within these pages to form their own opinions.
Each month I sit before a blank page and wonder what I am going to share in this opening welcome. I also sit here and wonder if anyone
really bothers to read the words shared here.
This is our biggest issue so far, and since Nourish is still an infant, I know it will continue to add pages and blossom still further.
Nourish is the teacher, I am the student, sometimes in step, often running to catch up. Yet through it all I have learned so much and
would not trade one moment of it for anything. It is pretty amazing to be able to work with gifted people who all share a common goal.
They have knowledge or wisdom they want to share.
I feel that we are all teachers and students at the same time. Each person has a story or an experience, that, when shared, can enrich each
other. Perhaps you don’t relate to all the articles contained within these pages, and that is fine. We don’t all have the same interests or
ideals. They are here to open doors to ideas, perhaps not thought of, or as reminders of things long ago learnt and forgotten.
This month I was reminded of an aunt who made dandelion wine each year and then would share thimble sized sherry glasses of the
golden elixir to adults only. It was shared in small glasses so as to make it last until the next batch could be made. From what I recall all
the adults liked the golden liquid and always asked for more, not that it was given, but the request was there.
The article on beets brought my deceased grandmother to mind. She pickled beets every year. My parents continue to grow beets each
year, eating the tender green leaves as well as the glorious red root. Personally I don’t like beets, but as they invoke powerful memories I
enjoyed the article.
Smell reminded me to pay attention to what was around me. Often if an odor is not strong
it can be waved aside and not appreciated. Yet if we take a moment to let it tantalize us, it
can transport us to another time. Like childhood days playing in swamps trying to see if
there were any tadpoles.
I could go on but would rather leave it to you read the articles and see where they take
you. Comments are always welcome please send them to [email protected]
Until next month ~ Namaste

Those of you who know me
might be surprised that one of
this month’s “Music that Moved
me” experience was Paul McCart-
ney’s recording of Kiss on the
Bottom.
It is all cover tunes from the 40’s
and 50’s. The disc was recorded
at Capitol Studios in Hollywood
and a concert was also recorded
there a few days after the re-
lease (and on the same day Paul
got his star on the Hollywood
Blvd.) for iTunes. I had heard
about the disc but hadn’t heard
any tracks but when I was look-
ing through iTunes I saw that
they had, as their free promo, a
limited release of the concert. As
I like “free”, I clicked on it. What
a cool concert. The lineup for the
show was a who’s who of the
music business; including Eric
Clapton, Joe Walsh, John Piz-
zarelli, Anthony Wilson, and Di-
ane Krall, just to name a few of
the guests. They played most of
Kiss on the Bottom in a very inti-
mate setting. The players were
loose and relaxed, joking be-
tween songs, Paul was bantering
with the small audience, Diane
look as though she had died and
gone to heaven playing with all
these great musicians, and Joe
and Eric looked like they were
having a ball. Man, I would like
to have been there just to soak
up all that vibe.
Needless to say, after I finished
watching the concert, I went and
bought the album and I highly
suggest you do so as well. I am
hoping they will also release the
concert as it would be a great
addition to my library.
I know I have said it before but
you can find a lot of cool tracks
for free every week, both on
iTunes and at your local Star-
bucks. It is a great way to hear
music you may not have thought
about listening to.
So, go and check out a different
genre than you usually listen to.
Broaden your musical horizons.
Enjoy and if you have a track
that you think everyone would
dig, feel free to email me and I
will feature it in an upcoming col-
umn.
Ciao for now.

Who doesn’t love the taste or smell of
cinnamon? This amazingly versatile spice comes
from the bark of the Cinnamon tree—and there is
nothing like it in the world! (Well, Cassia is like it—
but Cassia is an essential oil in it’s own right, so we
won’t discuss it here.) Cinnamon is used in cook-
ing—both savory and sweet dishes. In ancient times
(and not so long ago, either—1200 AD and before)
the source of cinnamon was kept secret. It wasn’t
until 1292 that a European discovered that the spice
came from Sri Lanka. Even after that it was very
expensive and very scarce. It was so highly prized
among ancient nations that it was regarded as a gift
fit for monarchs and even for a god!
Cinnamon is widely used in Middle Eastern dishes,
Mexican dishes (especially with choco-
late...mmmmm) and it’s the main seasoning in our
own apple pie! I put it in everything from oatmeal
and muffins to spaghetti sauce (apparently cinna-
mon is the “secret” ingredient in “real” Italian spa-
ghetti sauce. Who knew?)
Cinnamon essential oil is so warm and lovely and
aromatic….I love the taste of it on my tongue! Just
a small amount on the tip of my finger—it’s a very
hot oil, and one that needs to be used with a carrier
oil on the skin. Truly, when one uses cinnamon oil
topically one smells good enough to eat!
According to the “Reference Guide for Essential
Oils,” this fragrant oil was included in just about
every prescription issued in ancient China. It has
been used as a sexual stimulant (French medicinal
use) and may be beneficial for circulation, colds,
digestion, exhaustion, flu…..apparently viruses, bac-
teria and fungus cannot survive in the presence of
cinnamon. There is a lot
of research being carried
out using cinnamon oil in
various applications. One
of the most exciting is a
study done in 2009 that
shows that constituents
of this fragrant oil
"impairs melanoma cell
proliferation, invasive-
ness, and tumor
growth".
Feeling depressed? The
aroma of cinnamon can
help with that, either by
itself or by enhancing the
activity of other oils.
Take a small drop of cin-
namon, mix it with a
pure carrier oil keep it
with you. When you
feel the need for a
lift, rub a small
amount on your
hands. Just make
sure to keep your fingers free—use the palm of your
hand—you do not want to get the oil in your eyes. I
would rub it on my chest (thymus area), but not
everyone can tolerate oils topically. And, if you don’t
like wearing oils—smell it.
Cinnamon is one of the key oils in Young Living’s
Abundance oil blend. (I wear that blend each and
every day, just one drop….)
Cinnamon essential oil—therapeutic grade—is gen-
erally regarded as safe for human consumption.
That means you can take a drop of the oil in a gel
cap, or dilute it in 2 tsp. of honey or 250 ml of bev-
erage such as soy or rice milk.
Experiment with this oil in blends (base note), in
cooking (a little bit goes a long way), with bath salts
(again...a little bit goes a very long way!). A tooth-
pick inserted in
the oil has just
enough on it to
flavor that cup
of hot cocoa or
coffee.
Above all,
enjoy it.
Please note: do not use essential oils that are not 3rd-party certi-fied therapeutic grade on your skin or internally.

Do you ever feel as though life is just in-
complete? That you have so many projects on the
go, so many things to do, so many people depend-
ing on you for this, that and the other and that you
will never in the foreseeable future be able to get it
all done? And somehow it’s impossible to say no to
the next thing that comes along—cause really, it’s
only an hour, a half a day, a weekend. In the course
of a year, it is only a drop in the bucket. In the
course of a lifetime only a drop in the ocean.
And yet, I get feeling really overwhelmed some-
times. Generally it’s when I’ve allowed myself to
take on too much. We are trained to do whatever
comes along in the day. To stay at it until every-
thing is finished. At least, women are. The women
that I know work full time. They are also homemak-
ers—domestic engineers! They volunteer for a vari-
ety of good causes. Some of them are also parent-
ing small to medium children, others are past the
actual child-rearing but play an active role in the
lives of their grandchildren.
We are never actually done. When we go to bed we
know that in the morning we will get up and wade
right into the ocean of life. Most of us have gone
through times when it just got to be too much.
That’s when we break down, get sick, leave a mar-
riage….
Some of that is the nature of life—we need to eat,
so we cook; we need to use the utensils again, so
we clean. Clothing that is washed needs to be put
away, then it is worn and must be washed and put
away again. The house that was cleaned on Satur-
day gets lived in all week and must be cleaned
again. We have all heard this: “the definition of in-
sanity is doing the same thing over and over again,
expecting a different result each time.” And in some
strange way, we do. We expect that this time, the
latest thing we’ve volunteered for will truly only
take “an hour a week.” This time the house will ac-
tually stay tidy so that the clean up is minimal. This time the clothes will stay on the hangers.
Fantasies. Do we live in a fantasy world? Some-
times I think I do. Or at least I live in a world where
I keep expecting things to be different.
So….where is my responsibility in this? If I create
my own reality—or unreality—what am I doing that
creates a world of “no time?” How is it serving me
to follow someone else’s lead, to “take the easy way
out?” Is it the way I spend my time, or is it the
promises that I’ve made and then find it hard to
keep? Both?
How is it that I have organized my life so that there
is little or no fun in it, so that the time I spend do-
ing things I like to do, things that fulfill me—feels
like stolen time? Both in the moment, and when I
am faced with doing something in a shortened time
frame—how is it? Again—how is it serving me?
That is such a tough question to answer. It’s not
one that I want to answer quickly, either. Ah. I see
that part of it is in wanting to be all things to all
people. I want to be perceived as someone who is
involved, someone who knows how to take the lead,
a do-er. I want my husband to think well of me, and
my choir members, and the people in my living and

working communities. I want ME to think that I can
be all of those things, too.
When I say ‘no’ I feel less than. Less than what?
Less than the perfect wife, the perfect employee,
the perfect friend. I like the thought that I am capa-
ble of doing many things. I don’t like the end result
of taking on too many things.
I have been through all of this many times. We do
that. Endless repetitions of the same lessons. The
difference is that the lesson gets finer and deeper
every time. Kind of like a spiral - with the earliest
lessons are at the bottom and really thick; later les-
sons are higher and higher on the spiral, and the
form is finer. I notice more quickly that I am in this
place again, can look at both the thoughts and emo-
tions and begin the process of shifting into a place
of more balance. Look at my insecurities, thank my
mind for sharing them with me, and invite other,
more balanced thoughts to take their place.
I finish the tasks that are waiting for me, that I
have committed to—all the while remembering to
breathe, to smile, to sing. I begin again to weigh
each request that comes along—for my time, for my
commitment. And I begin to take the steps that will
help me to become the person I truly want to be: a
person who loves deep, laughs long at herself, sings
throughout her entire day and who knows her yes-
es—and her noes!

male side of this. To the men who read this article—
it would be wonderful to hear from you, to know if
you, too, experience this level of too-muchness!)

I t has been suggested that it is only through human consciousness that the
universe can be aware of itself. As I pondered on this thought, I wondered
if we humans are perhaps the soul of the Uni-
verse: Universal soul, personified.
Light refracted manifests as rainbow. Oneness, refracted through time and space, manifests as individual consciousness. Who we think we are
is only a temporary manifestation of something infinitely more vast than our minds can begin
to imagine. When we identify so completely with that temporary manifestation two things happen: first, we severely underestimate our
true natures and second, we are plunged into a self-created consciousness characterized by
mortality, attachment, limitation, pain and suf-fering.
In the same way that we must experience
darkness to know light, it may be that the only way we can grasp the fullness of Oneness or
the timelessness of Eternity is to experience their opposites. Hence worldly experience. Coasting through eternity, we may be as una-
ware of the eternal, as is the fish of the vast ocean in which it swims. After struggling on dry
land for a short spell, when returned to the ocean, the fish may have an instant ‘awakening’ or ‘realization’ of what was there
all along. Being somewhat more evolved than fish, we do not have to wait until we return to
the ocean of eternity to wake up, although some certainly do. Deep, deep within our con-sciousness we carry the memory of the cosmic
ocean from which we emerged. When we expe-rience its opposite, we feel out of our element.
We experience so many things that we simply did not have to deal with in our eternal home. It is difficult to ‘flow’, life requires ‘effort’, grav-
ity, (and dragging around a physical body) makes us feel heavy. Ego renders us fright-
ened, insecure, worried, and blocks the flow of boundless love. Waking up on Earth is like being Cinderella at
midnight, or Adam and Eve after lunch. Awak-ening on Earth is a whole different matter. It is
remembering heaven, remembering the palace and dancing at the ball. Yes, we came here so that we would really know and recognize Heav-
en, Eternity, or Oneness: so that we would re-
ally know our true natures. Sometimes the best
way to really know something is to be clear about what it is not. Once we get that, then
comes the ah ha!
Throughout history we recognize many awak-ened ones, and how they tried to get the mes-sage across to those who were still asleep. Not
all are ready to wake up, but more and more of us are. There is a little twist to the story
though. The fish that struggles on land wants only to be returned to the ocean. No one would expect the fish to survive on land, much less
try to turn the land into an ocean. If we were at the level of fish, then when we became
aware, perhaps we would be thrown back into the cosmic ocean. But no, we are left here.
(Continued on page 9)

Remember, we are the consciousness of the Universe: and it is all evolving. Our challenge is to move the whole thing up a level: we are
soul seedlings come to sprout into a veritable Garden of Eden. Yes, it is our task to create
Heaven on Earth. “Ah ha! Now I remember what it was like before the fall into form. It was beautiful, warm, effortless, timeless: love
was all there was.” Our challenge is to figure out just what we need to do here to re-create
the divine state. All of the limitations, all of the blocks in our way are within us. The divine state already exists. We simply need to elimi-
nate all that it is not! This is the hard part. In
any situation, we can access our divinity by
asking what an angel would do, what God would do, what Allah would do, what Buddha
would do. We always know what they would do, if we care to ask ourselves. Doing what they would do is definitely our challenge. Spirit
within us is always ready and willing to provide guidance. Ego is the stubborn problem child
who knows he should share, but won’t let go of his possession. Our wise observer grants that this is only a stage. We will grow into the reali-
zation of the infinite joy that comes with letting go: sooner, hopefully, than later.
Like a firm and loving parent, who gently un-wraps the determined fingers which clutch on so tightly, the Universe has a way of loosening
our grasp. Imposed upon us, this releasing is accompanied by drama, resistance, struggle
and pain. Holding on takes effort. Choosing to let go makes the process effortless. It is only
with empty hands and open hearts that we can embrace divine eternity, and welcome it into the now.

M ost of us have the understanding that when uncomfortable feelings
show up or we feel simply touched that this must be sadness and
means pain or something negative - we don’t
want that!
Client A feels tears arising in one of our sessions
and comments: “There might be some unresolved
issues still left over.”
Yes, issues will never resolve completely as long as
we are alive.
We can’t completely and absolutely get rid of every
single problem that exists in our whole physical re-
ality. We’re never absolutely resolving all issues
present. That is part of the process of homeostasis
or the “State of Balance” StoB.
I call it an incredible Inherent Intelligence that
actually is in charge of everything functioning well
and can be accessed in a Biodynamic Craniosacral
Treatment.
What if we’re just being with it? And we just see
what happens next, right now, in here? Tears are
there. Well, that does not need to be sorrow…
To interpret automatically like that can be a self-
fulfilling prophesy.
Could it be that there are simply tears?
Simply being touched creates tears in the lacrimal
glad because it’s responding to the quality of the
touch.
Maybe this nervous system has longed for some
space that just has started
evolving and now has the per-
mission to expand, and that just
wasn’t there before?
Maybe something else is unfold-
ing, that the mind was not able
to think of or did not have any
concept for that kind of possibil-
ity…maybe it really is surprising-
ly healing to just sit and wait for
what is behind the curtain and
appears only when we’re able to
not judge and relax very deeply.
When this inner space opens up
healing can happen naturally.
Please be good to your self –
stay curious and do nothing for a
moment.
Tap into the waters of the body, rest and be still.
Let your body speak for that bit and just see what
happens.
Stay with your inner “eyes wide open” and allow
something different then the usual to show up.

Today I encourage you take a whole new approach
to your yoga practice. Between every pose add a
resting pose. Yoga isn’t about seeing how limber
and flexible you can become in an hour or how
many seconds you can hold the intense strength
poses. Well I guess it could be. But is that really
your goal at the end of the session?
Reach deeper! Allow the focus to linger on the
breath as the body relaxes between poses. Let the
resting pose be as important and as long as all the
others. If you hold Plank pose for thirty seconds
take the next thirty seconds in Resting pose with
the hands stacked under the cheek for support
while resting on your tummy. Next you could come
up to your hands and knees and do Cat pose and
then rest in Childs Pose for however long you did
the previous pose. Then the next pose and a rest,
always coming back to your breath and savoring the
sensation of the body completely melting into relax-
ation.
While exercise is important for the body so is rest. I
believe allowing ourselves to rest in yoga brings a
deeper feeling of relaxation and assists the body in
releasing tension. Imagine a long skinny balloon the
kind they use to make animals and hats. Now I
want you to imagine blowing up the balloon with 10
quick breaths. Impossible! What about ten quick
stretches? Oh wait that didn’t work either. Now I
want you to imagine giving it a stretch, a breath, a
stretch, a breath, a stretch, a breath and pretty
soon it comes to life waiting to be molded as does
the body with the right balance of stretch and rest.
Off the mat try taking this practice with into every-
day life. Do you ever find yourself juggling several
tasks at once only to be continually leaping to the
next as though you’re on autopilot? This behavior
becomes particularly draining even if you love them
all. Kind of like needing a vacation when you get
back from your vacation.
Rest is a simple concept. Repeat this mantra after
me “I give myself permission to rest and breathe
often”. After all we are “human beings” not “human
doings.” If you can only fit in one pose today then
let it be a resting one. Sanity for the Soul!

If you read my column last month you will
know that I promised to tell you all about edible
weeds that grow just about anywhere. I thought I'd
start with one of the most useful and soon to be one
of the most plentiful.
The irrepressible Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is
found just about anywhere. What other plant will so
joyfully provide us with an 'instant meadow' on the
road side, in farmers’ fields, or your own carefully
tended lawn..... enough said, you really don't need
a picture to identify this one!
The Dandelion and family is probably the world's
most traveled plant finding its way to every major
continent. It's not a fussy plant and has an ability to
survive in almost any environment. It also has
adapted very efficient methods of reproduction. Not
only will it spread on the wind via those enchanting
light-as-a-fairy seeds, it will also reproduce by root
segments much like the root segments of comfrey.
A bit of advice here; if you are going to remove a
Dandelion from your garden be sure to get every
scrap of root. Any bit forgotten will soon reappear!
Crazy as it may seem to us, the French actually
plant and cultivate Dandelions because they value
the epicurean and curative properties of this plant
so highly. We in North America have been a bit
slow to catch on but in some health food stores that
sell produce you may be able to find Dandelion
leaves in bunches, some green and some an exotic
red color.
Don't limit your use to just the leaves, every part of
the Dandelion can be used, except maybe those
light-as-a-fairy-seed things!
Among other things, young Dandelion
leaves assist in the production of bile
which helps in digestion. Some varieties
are even named lettuce such as Prickly Let-
tuce (Lactuca serriola) and Blue Lettuce (Lactuca
plulchella) suggesting their beneficial properties
when used as a salad green. A salad with Dandelion
leaves is perfect before the main course, helping
your digestive tract to prepare for the heavier foods
of the main course.
The young leaves picked preferably before flowering
make the tastiest fresh salad greens. After the
plant has flowered you can still eat the fresh leaves,
but be sure to pick only the youngest, for they will
be the tenderest. You may also lightly steam the
leaves and eat them as a side dish with a little but-
ter, balsamic vinegar or with fresh parmesan
cheese. I've also added them to a pot of soup or
stew. They make a very satisfying addition chopped
up in omelette or quiche. Whatever way you choose
to eat Dandelion your liver will love you for it!
The Dandelion root is best known for its ability to
help us release excess water from the body. In fact
in the herbal world it is used in place of diuretics
because unlike chemical diuretics Dandelion root
does not deplete potassium levels in the body, it
replaces them.
The root is also a well-known healthier coffee sub-
stitute. I've never tried it, but they say you just
need to roast it in the oven first and then grind it
up. Something to think about the next time the
price of coffee goes sky high.
If you wish to use the root part for its therapeutic
value it is best to use a root that is approximately 3
years old. Pick it in the late summer/fall or early
spring when the energy of the plant has returned to
the root. This ensures the potency of that part of
the plant.
Now growing a 3 year old Dandelion root may seem
unrealistic, or downright foolhardy! Especially when

The Husband/Wife/Other doesn't appreciate your
penchant for this perky little perennial, but if you
can squirrel away a couple of plants in an out of the
way place they will thrive and if you let them pro-
duce those fluffy balls of light-as-a-fairy-seed things
after blooming, well then your whole neighborhood
will have a plentiful supply for years to come!
Scrub the roots after picking and chop into pieces
about ½ inch long. If the roots are more than ½
inch thick I would slice them lengthwise for faster
drying. Next allow them to dry thoroughly. If you
have a dehydrator, set it to the lowest heat setting
and dry the roots there. When dry store them in a
glass jar away from light and heat. If stored in this
way their medicinal properties will be potent for
about 3 years.
As you need the root you can grind the dried pieces
in a blender and either put them into capsules or
sprinkle the root powder on your cereal. For tea
bring 2-3 teaspoons of root pieces to a boil per one
cup of water and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Drink
½ to 1 cup per day.
Although I have never tried this myself the "milky"
liquid in the stem part of the Dandelion is reported
to be a top notch wart remover.
And last, but not least I think everyone has heard of
Dandelion Wine. We live beside a farm field that
just bristles with Dandelions in April. The Husband
is a rabid vintner and is constantly looking for things
he can turn into wine or beer, it's embarrassing re-
ally, he just can't resist temptation.
Now if you want to make the very best Dandelion
wine then you will need the help of a Saint and as
luck would have it we have one for dandelions in St. George, and the optimal day to pick the flowers is
on St. George's day, which is April 23rd.
So one sunny April 23rd, with St. George looking
over his shoulder, The Husband set off into the field
with two paper bags. Soon he was up to his eye-
brows in Dandelion flowers and by 10:30pm, on a
week night, had only plucked half a bag of petals
loose from their heads. What could I do I had to
help him?
In the end it was quite a tasty brew and the alcohol
content seemed to increase with age...bonus!
Here's the recipe he used, unfortunately it's only in
metric.
METHOD
Use only dandelion petals. The green pieces will
impart a bitter flavor. Put all ingredients except wa-
ter and wine yeast in primary fermenter. Add ½
quantities of water hot, stir to dissolve sugar. Add
balance of water cold.
Cover with plastic sheet. When must is 21-23 de-
grees Celsius add yeast. Stir daily. Ferment 4-5
days or until S.G. is 1.030. Strain out pulp through
nylon straining bag and press. Siphon into carboys
or gallon jugs, and attach fermentation locks. Rack
in 10 days and again in one month. If necessary
fine with recommended finings. When wine is clear
and stable, bottle.
So enjoy your Dandelions and remember to only
pick free-range edibles from places you know are
free of pesticides and chemical fertilizers and well
away from any roadways.
We don't think of chickens as being par-
ticularly intelligent, but after next month's article
you will have a new appreciation for their ability to
hone in on probably the most nutritious weeds.

There has been an excited buzz around my office for
the last ten days. People are getting charged up
about a subject that usually leaves them yawning
with disinterest at best, or covering their ears and
running for the hills on a bad day. The subject is diet
and nutrition. More specifically, it's about weight loss
and health challenges. If you have issues with either,
then you may have reason to get excited, too.
The genesis of this excitement is a new documentary
movie that was released online on March 21st, called
Hungry for Change. It is produced by James
Colquhoun and Laurentine ten Bosch, the same cou-
ple responsible for Food Matters, a brilliant and hard-
hitting documentary on the food industry in America.
Both films are a must-see for anyone who believes
that something may be amiss in the relationship
western culture has with food.
Unlike similar attempts to inform the public about ap-
propriate nutrition and raise consumer awareness of
the dangers inherent in our modern diet, Hungry for
Change does not bore the viewer with the same im-
personal facts and scientific research we have been
hearing for decades. It also does not attempt to ter-
rify us with projections of declining health and esca-
lating health costs, or chastise us for our unwilling-
ness to adopt more sane and beneficial practices to
ensure our own longevity. Sixty-eight percent of the
American population is currently overweight or obese.
Incidents of cancer and degenerative diseases contin-
ue to rise, despite the billions of dollars being thrown
at them. What does it take for people to finally hear
this message?
James and Laurentine appear to have figured that
out. It takes someone to say, “I hear you. You're
not ignorant, lazy, or self-indulgent. Here are the
reasons you have this dysfunctional relationship with
healthy living and here's why that relationship has
been so difficult to repair.” More importantly, it takes
new and believable solutions that are easy to imple-
ment. This film delivers all of the above. To impart
their message, the film uses a collection of articulate
and dynamic experts who combine proven research
information with personal testimonies. Drs. Joseph
Mercola, Alejandro Junger and Christiane Northrup,
nutritionists and authors David Wolfe and Mike Ad-
ams, and wild foods expert Daniel Vitalis are among
the professionals who open our eyes to the chemical,
emotional and behavioural reasons for our current
calamity. Author and addiction specialist Jason Vale,
author and weight loss expert Joe Gabriel, filmmaker
Kris Carr, and many others, lift our hearts with their
stories of personal crisis and triumph. Holding to-
gether the anecdotal information is the story of the
heroine, a chubby young working woman with self
esteem issues and behaviours typical of her genera-
tion. Some scenes make you want to cry. Others
have you cheering. There are “Aha!” moments for
everyone. The passionate logic that unfolds weaves
a tale of calculated duplicity, natural programming
and our own innocence that touches everyone who
watches it. In a single week, four people I know
were motivated to begin fresh vegetable juicing for
the first time in their life, solely on the credibility of
the film. These are all people who have had health or
weight challenges for years, and who were familiar
with the principles of juicing before watching the film.
Now they're excited about doing it!
This is not just a movie about fat people for fat peo-
ple. It is for anyone is feeling their health and vitality

slipping away. It is for every school-age child and
every parent of every school-age child. It is for eve-
ry senior, every hospital patient, and every person
who has ever chosen fast food over whole food. It
will change how you understand how you decide to
eat and live. At the very least, for those of us who
have been conscious of these issues for years or
even decades, it will give you concise and powerful
information for sharing with others. It is films such
as this that have been the impetus for a culture to
change how it thinks.
Something quite wonderful is going on here. A
movement is afoot, I believe. It is as if a critical
point has been reached. People are tired of being
tired. They are tired of being misled about basic life-
sustaining information. They are tired of being told
this is just how it is....take a pill and you'll feel bet-
ter, for a while. And most importantly, they are
ready to step up and do something about it.
If you have issues with your weight or your general
health, or if you know someone who does, there is
information in this film that you need to know. If you
are Hungry for Change, I suggest you take 90
minutes to explore some of the very latest, most in-
spiring and successful approaches to healing that are
available. The DVD may be purchased for US$34.95.
Check it out. It's an investment in us all. Live long
and prosper!

W hew, what a
month this has
been! Have you been feeling the effects of the mer-
cury/mars retrograde? I thought I was, and I have
seen evidence of it at work with regards to comput-
ers, yet on further investigating I was not personal-
ly feeling the effects.
So, what was making me feel like I was stuck, not
moving forward or taking one step forward and six
back? Focus, avoidance, and procrastination that is
what!!
When I have many things that I want to accom-
plish, I tend to do all of them at once. The only
thing that this accomplishes is that nothing gets
done properly and then I get cranky because I am
disappointed in myself.
If I know that this happens to me, how do I allow it
to get out of control or even happen at all? I get
caught up in the moment of fear that I can’t meet
By Marlene Cobb
www.nourishpublication.com April 2012 17
everyone’s standards, there are too many exciting
events, I want to do them all or simply, I don’t know
how. That is how I allow it to happen.
Picture if you will a whirling dervish (me), doing 15
minutes of this here, 15 minutes of that there. OH, a
new book I must read, my castle has quests to com-
plete, and people need things to finish their quests,
dinner before 8? Well, I can try but it might have to
be a 9 pm seating. Nourish needs SEO (search en-
gine optimization), a logo, new website, new contrib-
utors, pictures, and emails sent out to remind about
deadlines. Do a cost analysis for the past 6 months
then create a personal budget. Oh, so sorry, your
dinner got a little crispy while I was finishing that
chapter! Is it bed time yet? How soon till the week-
end so I can relax? Coffee? I would love a cup, de-
caf please.
No wonder I get cranky. I am not a super human, I
am one person (amazing perhaps, but still have not
figured out how to clone me). When cranky slaps me
on the side of the head, I take notice! (I don’t like
being cranky) Then I look at why I am so scattered
and not focused? What am I avoiding? How am I
procrastinating and why am I procrastinating? Why
am I holding me back?
One accomplishment, at a time, please. (Nope, that
does not look like the book is getting finished first!)
I pick the one job/project that is stressing me the
most and work on that. That is it. My secret. Get it
out of the way. Part of what got me to the whirling
dervish stage is that I was avoiding that project any-
way. This time it was the cost analysis and budget.
Funny thing is I love looking at those numbers and I
love trying to make everything balance.
So what was stopping me? Fear. Plain and simple.
“Of what?” you might ask and if it was that fearful,
why would you do it in the first place? Well I would
like to retire at some point and to do that one needs
to look after their money now. Earn it, keep it, and
grow it. If you are like me, you consult a financial
advisor who wants to look at all your private bits
where money is concerned. Figure out how you can
actually achieve your goal without being a burden to
your child.
I had all the numbers laid out in spreadsheets.
Beautifully executed with colors. The budget was bal-
anced (even if a little unrealistic, I got it to balance).
I just needed to attach it to an email and push send.
Instead I would rather become a scattered whirling
dervish. Can you believe it? Me either. Avoidance
brings imbalance to me. I procrastinate by doing a
million other things which I deem to be super im-
portant, (and they are important, don’t get me
wrong), in order to avoid the one aspect of myself
that causes me discomfort.
Did you catch that part? The aspect of myself that
causes me discomfort. An opportunity for growth.
So drawing in a deep big breath, I look at the project.
Really look at it. Why do I care so much if I meet
someone else’s mark? I only have to meet my stand-
ards (which are pretty high), and do the best I can
do. Especially when it comes to money. I earn it, I
can choose to keep it or spend it, and do I want to
grow it? Hell yes!! I don’t want to be a burden on
my child. So bite the bullet and get it done. Hit the
dang send button already!
Once I tackle the project or job at hand, I feel bet-
ter, balance starts to return, I don’t even have to fin-
ish the project in one sitting, just acknowledging and
committing to getting it done is enough. One project
at a time. Prioritize, for me it is the one thing that I
don’t want to particularly do that I challenge myself
with first. After that is out of the way, the rest all get
done exactly when they should, and in the order that
they should get done in. I feel like I have accom-
plished more than what was on my list. And I proba-
bly have, because I faced a fear, brought it into fo-
cus, and stopped avoiding.

This month’s rune is Algiz, the elk.
This is a rune of protection and friendship and often
shows a new relationship with someone who is out-
going and fun to be around. It could also take the
form of a new job or forthcoming marriage. It is a
most auspicious rune no matter where in the cast it
is found.
When Algiz is reversed it shows that you are, either
being, or about to be, duped. It indicates a need for
caution as people around you may not have your
best interests at heart and may be looking at you as
a scapegoat.
T his past month we were presented with a
business opportunity by a friend of ours. It
seemed like a good plan but we wanted to sleep on
it and examine it better in the light of day. I am
wary if a deal seems like it has to be finalized in the
“heat of the moment”. If something is a good deal
when you first are shown it, then it will still be a
good deal next week.
The next morning I still wasn’t convinced so I
thought I would check with the runes to see what
they had to say. It was just a simple one stone Odin
cast but I just wanted to find out if we were on the
right path. The stone I drew was Laguz in reverse.
This is a very bad sign unless you are also drawing
positive stones with it. It is a temptation to take the
easy way out or do the wrong thing and shows the
need for immediate action.
Well, I don’t need to get hit upside the head to get
the message. When Mars got home I showed her
the rune and the meaning and we decided that, cou-
pled with her intuitiveness, we would decline the
offer. For the time being we are working on growing
Nourish and that is a fulltime job.
You would be quite surprised with how many influ-
ential businessmen use runes in their daily lives to
decide mergers, sales acquisitions, job hires, etc.
As I learn more about runes, I am being shown,
very clearly, where my path is taking me.
I am also reading Gods of the Runes by Frank Jo-
seph who had quite a different take on the meaning
of runes. In it he says that the twenty-four runes of
the Elder Futhark were originally named after the
six Aesir (the gods), the six Asynir (the goddesses),
and the twelve Vanir (the pantheon of other gods
and goddesses). It wasn’t until the late twelfth cen-
tury, after the Vatican had issued a decree of death
for anyone caught using runes, that the rune mas-
ters devised a way to change the names to take the
place of the original god titles. Because of the
Northern European’s refusal to capitulate to that de-
cree, runes not only survived the Dark Ages but also
had regained a high degree of popularity, and the
Vatican again issued a ban on the use of runes in
1639. As before, the names were changed to dis-
guise any relation to the gods. Together with the
twelfth century names, these are the names by
which the runes are now known.
It is a fascinating read and I am eagerly looking for-
ward to finishing the book.
So until next month, may the runes guide you
whenever you have need of them.

“I Should & Should I” is that sneaky little voice that creeps into the mind
and reminds us that if we want people to like us we
will do XYZ to make them happy. Even though we
really don’t want to and can give a long list of why
not.
If you find yourself in this tug of war I would en-
courage you to be honest with yourself as to what
you really want to do in this situation. Followed with
a little self-inquiry as to why you would feel this
gesture would be necessary.
“Oh No you didn’t. Did you?” Did you just say to
yourself silently “So people like me?” or “To be a
good person” or something along those lines? I am
not saying these answers are right or wrong. Only,
is that the direction you would like the relationship
to flow? Because right now in this moment you’re
setting up a pattern for the energy to flow and we
all know how much the world hates change. So will
the relationship especially when you get tired of go-
ing the extra mile when it’s out of balance.
“People pleasing” is a series of exercises, gifts and
games in the hopes of winning people over. Only
most of the folks we are trying to win over have al-
ready made up their mind about us. Either through
observing us when we thought no one was watch-
ing, by our body language, or by our words and ac-
tions around others. So really if we continue down
this path of pleasing, all we are really doing is con-
vincing ourselves and massaging our ego. Yes.
I trust that those who love me will continue to love
me and I embrace relationships that flow with ease
and grace. Releasing the need to fix everything and
everyone. Gasp! Oh no! Does that make me a bad
person? Nope! I am just taking off the mask, people
this is me. May we always have the respect for
each other to be honest and authentic.
I Should or Should I The Pitfalls of People Pleasing!
Today I wrestled with the question of “Should I” My gut said “No” but I didn’t let it go! Did I?
“I Should” took over and tried to run the show
I saw her coming and said “Heck No”
Frazzled and confused I didn’t want to look bad Back came “Should I” like the latest fad
Around the circle we all went By the end I just felt spent.
People pleasing is a buzz kill
I’m thankful balance is my happy pill!

There is an area of energy awareness that is sel-
dom discussed—the sense of smell. When I am
working with a client or teaching a class, I often smell
their guides, or their energy. There are people for
whom the sense of smell is the main way they con-
nect with spirit, the way they experience energy. It
can be a most exhilarating way to “know” the other
realms around us.
This month will be exploratory. We tend to block
out smells that we don’t like; in fact, smelling has
gotten a really bad rap—the nose is where many peo-
ple experience allergic reactions, and we’d just as
soon not smell, thank you very much! I am asking
you to put all of that aside. Smell.
This is spring—there are so many flowers out in
April how can one not smell? You are going to have
to go outdoors for this! Spring is the most delicious
time of the year for smells: besides flowers, there’s
raw earth, wet soil, pungent manure—the other day I
smelled the wonderful water-on-dust smell that we
only get once the earth has
warmed up.
Walking down the street,
use your nose as your guide.
Stop. Sniff. I think that when
we block out unpleasant
smells we actually begin to
block out all smells.
If there is a bush with
flowers on it, stop and smell
them. Step back a few inch-
es. Can you still smell them?
What happens when you
move around? Can you feel
the breeze on your skin? Is it
carrying the smell towards
you or away from you?
If you do not live in a
place that has flowers
blooming right now….it’s still
spring. Smell the snow melt-
ing. The fresh earth and mud
and delicious smell of water
as it starts to move under
the snow. In cattle country the heady aroma of thaw-
ing cow manure tickles the nostrils. The not-so-
pleasant smell of cat and dog feces thawing is a re-
minder that taking better care of our pet’s hygiene
has benefits!
When the wind is blowing—what smells do you pick
up? Usually I pick up the salt water smell when the
wind is from the northeast, blowing on the tidal flats
of Burrard Inlet. The other day I was delighted to
smell salt water from the tidal flats to the south! Deli-
cious!
Your exercise this month is to spend as much time
as you can consciously smelling. Inside or outside—
give your olfactory sense a good workout!

Energy 101 By Vera Enshaw
www.nourishpublication.com April 2012 21
The full moon that
comes in on
Good Friday,
April 6th, marks
a very special
point in the his-
tory of Planet
Earth, as this is
the day the constitutes the be-
ginning of the final 260-day
cycle in the current Great Cy-
cle of time. As we journey
through this last 260 days to-
wards the Long Count’s conclu-
sion on Dec.21st, each person
on Earth will have one more
opportunity to reconnect with the energy of their
birth in the context of the current era. Then, during
the 260 days that follow Dec. 21st, each person will
reconnect with the energy of their birth for the first
time within the new Great Cycle – a whole new era
of 5125 years.
The day that coincides with this April 6th full moon
is called Five Imix (pronounced Eemeesh), which
represents the “blessing of birth”. This is the fifth
day within the Kab’an trecena (the 13-day period
that is “guided” by the energy of the first day of
this period). With Kab’an being a force associated
with “evolutionary movement”, Five Imix can cer-
tainly set the stage for the opening up of new pos-
sibilities, particularly since this falls just after the
“seating” of the Classical Maya New Year, which
took place on April 2nd. The patron dieties of this
time frame suggest that this is a period oriented
around both forgiveness and fertility, also tied into
the idea of inspired dynamic motion. It can be a
significant time of change that can produce events
aligned with re-birth or emergence, some of which
can even manifest as world-shaping beginnings and
endings.
In the past these world-shifting events have includ-
ed the departure of Columbus
from Palos, Spain in 1492 en
route to the “New World”; the
beginning and ending of World
War II; the Apollo 11 moon
landing and first moonwalk
(1969), and the end of the
space shuttle era (2011); the
papal inauguration of Pope
John Paul II (on 5 Imix in
1978); Bill Clinton’s first inau-
guration (1993); and the
“powering up” of the Large
Hadron Collider (2008), the $9
billion atom-smashing device
that is searching for the “God
Particle”. Two years after the LHC was switched on
there was announcement, also within this trecena,
that it had successfully created a “mini-Big Bang”.
Exactly one Tzolk’in cycle later (in July, 2011), sci-
entists announced that they expected to know
within 18 months whether or not the “God particle”
actually exists. This suggests that their findings will
be ready for release around the end of the year,
just as this trecena returns once again, bringing
with it the conclusion of the current Great Cycle of
time.
The 5 Imix energy that comes in on April 6th is as-
sociated with a number of ideas, including
birth, the “realm of all potential”, and even chaos,
as this is a day symbolic of the primordeal realm,
which contains “all possiblities”. Since this is a kind
of “world shaping” energy, it seems to be no coinci-
dence that a number of “world shaping visionaries”
such as Thomas Edison and Walt Disney were born
under this influence.
Easter Sunday on April 8th coincides with 7 Ak’b’al,
a “self-generating” type of energy, often referred to
as a “temple” or “house”. Strongly linked with the

The Great Cycle of Time, as tracked by the Maya Long Count calendar, incorporates 7200 revolu-tions of a 260-day cycle known as the Tzolk’in (Count of Days).
This Great Cycle, which began in 3114 B.C., comes to a close on Dec. 21 of this year, at which point a whole new Great Cycle of Time begins to unfold.
www.nourishpublication.com April 2012 22
earth and its mysteries, this energy has brought
forth some major earth-oriented events in the past,
such as the huge eruption of Mount Merapi in Indo-
nesia in 2010, which forced the evacuation of over
350,000 people from nearby villages. There is also a
“self-generating” secrecy aspect to this, as reflected
by the fact that Richard Nixon’s winning of the 1968
U.S. presidential election and the 1973 commence-
ment of the preliminary hearings that led to his im-
peachment both took place under this influence.
The intense energy of 9 Chikchan, representative of
“outwardly-projecting” lifeforce, comes into place
on April 10th. This powerful force was the energy in
place at the Battle of Gettysburg during the U.S.
Civil War, and at the beginning of World War II
when Germany invaded Poland in 1939. It was also
in place when Paris was liberated by the Allies in
1944. In 2011 this was the energy in place when
the Large Hadron Collider scientists made their an-
nouncement about the impending release of infor-
mation about the “God particle”. As this is the birth
energy of Clint Eastwood, it remains to be seen
whether or not their findings will “make our day” in
conjunction with the end-of-era this coming Decem-
ber.
The following day will be 10 Kimi, which represents
the death god in both the number and daysign posi-
tions. Although this may sound a little daunting this
was traditionally seen as a “lucky” type of energy
since it represents an opportunity to return to
“absolute foundations”. In 2008 this was the energy
in place when the U.S. government proposed an in-
fusion of $700 billion into the economy in what was
known as the Big Bailout, on the same day that the
Large Hadron Collider was shut down due to a seri-
ous fault.
The last few days of this trecena, from April 12th to
the 14th, have the potential to intensify that
“evolutionary movement” force that has been push-
ing through this time frame, concluding on a day
known as 13 Muluk, or “transformational water”.
This can be a highly energetic, even dramatic, day
where feelings run high and even environmental
forces can develop into floods or hurricanes. As April
14th marks the 100th anniversary of the day when
the Titanic struck an iceberg at 11:40 p.m., there is
no doubt that emotions will be strong as people re-
view events surrounding that great
tragedy.
April 15th brings us to the start of the
next trecena, a 13-day period under
the influence of Ok, the dog. Oriented
around the idea of guidance, justice,
and the renewal of life, the energies aligned with
this trecena often have a tendency to push things
into the light so that “justice can be served” and
new possibilities can be opened up. Often there is
some carry-over from the Kab’an trecena, with fol-
low-up developments sometimes unfolding at this
time, as happened when the 2008 financial bailout
was approved two weeks after the proposal was put
forward. Occasionally the follow-up will come during
subsequent cycles, as seen when yet another hotly
debated and compromised U.S. debt bill was passed
by the houses of Congress and signed into law by
Obama during the Ok trecena in 2011. This kind of
follow-up could also be seen when the Nixon im-
peachment hearings, begun in 1973, were approved
by the House Judiciary Committee during the Ok
trecena in 1974, leading to the release of the
“smoking gun” tape that precipitated Nixon’s resig-
nation. Other significant events that have occurred
during this trecena include the revival of the Olym-
pic Games in 1896; the enormous Dunkirk rescue
operation during World War II; the inauguration of
John F. Kennedy in 1961, and his assassination in
1963; and the transfer of political authority back to
Iraq in 2004.
Historically, the day known as 4 B’en, coinciding this
month with April 18th, has been one of the key days
during this time frame. It was this “defining of per-
sonal authority” influence in 1948 that brought
forth the adoption of the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights by the United Nations, and it was this
same influence that stopped everyone in their
tracks on that fateful day in November of 1963,
when the U.S. lost a president who had represented
hope for a great many people. Nearly forty years
later, in 2003, the space shuttle Columbia set out
on its final flight on a 4 B’en day, also carrying great
hope and enthusiasm with it.
April 21st brings us to the day known as 7 Kib’, a
“self-generating” force aligned with the idea of re-
storing order, this time in conjunction with the new
moon and the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s
86th birthday. This is followed by 8 Kab’an, a
“resurrection” type of energy associated with the
earth, which happens to coincide with Earth Day on
April 22nd, and the “seating” of the Maya “frog”
month called Wo. This was the energy in place dur-
ing John F. Kennedy’s inauguration in 1961. This
time this will be the peak period for the Lyrids me-
teor shower.
On April 25th a “Burner” day called 11 Ajaw comes
into place. The birth energy of Albert Einstein,
this represents “inspirational sun”, as seen the last
time this energy occurred (in August of 2011) when
(Continued from page 21)
(Continued on page 23)
www.nourishpublication.com April 2012 23
there was a rebound in the North American stock
market and the price of gold rose to an unprece-
dented $1743/oz. On that same day the sun emit-
ted an Earth-directed X6.9 solar flare.
The last day of this trecena correlates with 13 Ik’, a
transformation-oriented force aligned with wind,
breath, and spirit, as was in place in 1940 when the
Dunkirk operation was completed, and in 1961
when President Kennedy presided over the first ever
live presidential news conference. This is another
highly intense energy that can manifest in the form
of strong wind-based energy as happened when a
series of deadly tornadoes destroyed buildings in
Kansas and Nebraska under this influence in 2007,
or it can be a force that brings people together to
express concern for a common cause, as seen in the
general strike in Portugal on 13 Ik’ in 2010. The
singer/songwriter/activist popularly known as Bono,
who is known for his ability to rally support for im-
portant causes, was born under this influence.
April 28th, the last Sunday of the
month, brings us to the beginning of
the Ak’b’al trecena, a highly earth-
oriented time frame that has a tenden-
cy to bring challenges associated with
ethics and morality into focus. The dei-
ty who serves as the patron of this tre-
cena is representative of the struggles
of the soul as it strives to overcome the trials and
tribulations of life, including those of the subcon-
scious and “inner processing”. It was One Ak’b’al,
the first day of this period – a day that could trans-
late as “the initiation of darkness” – when the cov-
ert “Watergate Incident” took place in 1972, which
ultimately led to Nixon’s impeachment. This is a day
during which significant blackouts have occurred in
the past, as when 1.5 million people in the Gaza
Strip were left without light, heat, electricity, or
drinking water, under this influence in 2008.
One of the key days during this time frame comes
in on April 30th, on 3 Chikchan, a Burner Day asso-
ciated with “the activation of lifeforce”, which some-
times functions as a kind of rallying energy for ad-
dressing (or activating) important social or political
issues. It was this energy that prompted the first
announcement of war plans against Iraq in 2003,
which triggered coordinated worldwide anti-war pro-
tests in over 100 cities the following day, on 4 Kimi.
This year that 4 Kimi energy, a “defining” force as-
sociated with “absolute foundations”, returns on
May 1st, aka May Day, a national holiday in more
than 80 countries that has become known as Inter-
national Workers’ Day. This will be the thirteenth
Tzolk’in return of 4 Kimi since that fateful an-
nouncement in 2003, and it promises to be another
eventful day on Planet Earth, as an international
“Occupy May 1st General Strike” has been called for
this day.
By the time we reach 7 Muluk, on May 4th, we will
be in the middle of this trecena, under the influence
of a “self-generating” energy associated with water.
This is a kind of shape-shifting energy that can of-
ten mark important turning points. It was under this
influence, again in alignment with this trecena’s
theme associated with ethics and morality, that the
space shuttle Columbia exploded during re-entry,
on a fly-pass over Texas. As this tragic event un-
folded just four days after the war plans announce-
ment, one can’t help but wonder whether or not it
was attempting to send a message to the president,
that unfortunately, did not seem to be heeded.
Although 7 Muluk can sometimes be challenging,
this day is followed 8 Ok, symbolic of the
“resurrection of love, guidance, and loyalty”, this
year in conjunction with the May 5th festivities of
Cinco de Mayo in Mexico and the U.S. and the Chil-
dren’s Day public holiday in Japan. A great time to
“soak in the love” and gaze at the moon, which will
be almost full once again.

Archangel Chamuel is most commonly known as the an-gel of love and compassion. (S)He can be helpful in deal-ing with communication is-sues, relationships, ethnic and racial tension, and to assist in situations where we are looking for things we have lost, or cannot find. As a channel for messages from Chamuel, I have found he has a strong desire to support the
opening of our heart chakra, especially at this crit-ical time in our development. “Welcome once again, dear Angels of Earth, to these words that I, Archangel Chamuel, share with you through the kindness and willing ener-gy of the being known to you as Kaye. She is one of many humans who have opened their awareness to the angels and beings of light who walk with you on your earthly journey. This in-
ter-dimensional connection is becoming easier as you continue on your path of growing con-sciousness. The dense frequencies of earth which have long been a barrier to your aware-ness of us, as well as our ability to communi-cate with you....these frequencies are becoming higher and lighter in many areas and with many people, so the opportunity for us to reach out to each other and be heard is greater now than it has ever been. This is a result of the honest commitment and diligence of many generations of brave humans who have opened their hearts to the voices of hope and inspiration that came to them in the midst of their struggles. And this is always our mission....to be messengers of the highest expressions of love, and to facilitate your choices as you make your way through your human experiences. It may surprise you to hear that all angelic beings are in service to humans, but this is the way it is. We hear you whenever you call to us, whether it is a silent prayer, a whispered plea, an angry cry, or, as here, your written words. And each call is an-swered, as you can see!”

Questions to Chamuel
Dear Archangel Chamuel,
My friend and I disagree on a couple of issues that
are rather important, in my opinion. What she is
doing is destructive to society and to the future of
my children and grandchildren. Should I keep my
thoughts to myself and avoid getting her angry, or
should I be open and hope for some kind of divine
inspiration as I speak my mind. She gets defensive
so I tend to tread carefully around the subject.
Diplomacy
“Dear Heart, bless you for your question, and for your mindfulness of the situation. You understand very well the delicate sensibilities that exist here, and your knowing heart seeks to do no harm. For all this you are honoured and adored by the angels and all beings of light. In the greatest love, we of-fer this information to you, and to the many who are ready to hear this message. Disagreement be-tween humans is often cause for breakdown in their loving connection with each other, but this does not need to be the case. We tell you this because you have the understanding to grasp this idea, which not all humans are capable of. Love can exist de-spite differences in belief or behaviour. Parents do this with their children all the time. They love no matter what the circumstances or consequences. It need be no different between friends, lovers, or any other relationship. The choice to love uncondition-ally is just that....a choice. If you choose to love this friend without reservation, then how you act in this situation is virtually moot. Any action taken in love will never do harm. However, it is absolutely imperative that you are clearly coming from love, for if you are motivated by fear or your ego, then the same result cannot be expected. Look deeply into your feelings and your words, and see if you can find if these shadows are there. These things we can tell you with certainty....no actions of any person can bring misfortune to your family without their consent. Difficulties may be created, certainly, but your trust in the wisdom and perfection of all things will do more to manifest the most positive outcome for future generations than any thought-less action of another can do to create irreparable harm. Your society is in the midst of great changes, and there are stresses and influences acting on it now that come from a variety of sources. All are appropriate, and have their purpose, even the ones you judge to be reprehensible. When you release your judgement, you can see how your understand-ing of the situation changes. It is all in the perspec-tive, Dear One. When you shift the beliefs that are limiting your perspective, you will recognize imme-diately the answer to your question. Whatever choice you make from the perspective of love will
not only bring the most positive possible results to your situation, but will positively affect the greatest good of all of humanity.” Chamuel
Hello, Chamuel,
I know you're with me when I think about you, but
it's so hard to hear you sometimes. I wish I could
understand what you're trying to tell me, but I just
get confused and I don't know if what I'm thinking
is coming from inside me, or if it's coming from you.
Is there a way for me to be sure?
“Dearest Human, we hear your confusion and un-derstand your struggle. The answer, however, is quite simple. Everything is coming from inside you. Nothing in your awareness exists outside of your-self. Any information that you understand to be coming from me, or any other being of light, is only a reflection of that which is inside you. This is al-ways the way, in all circumstances. We also under-stand that this only confuses you more, so I will try to give you a simple answer that will help guide you to a better understanding of this fact. When you ask a question of me, you are truly asking me to connect you with your own inner wisdom, which is connected to the wisdom of the universe. You un-derstand, quite incorrectly, that I have access to this universal wisdom and that you do not. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I am simply a mir-ror for your own brilliance....an amplifier, you could say. When you call on me or any of the angelic be-ings, we are there to assist in your connection with your own angelic self. The thoughts or visions that come to you are all yours, the manifestation of all aspects of you....your beliefs, your fears, your dreams, your musings....and often your divinity. Which aspect you choose to listen to then falls back to you, which, of course, invites the larger question. How to choose? Which aspect of your self do you hear the loudest? Who do you decide you are in that moment you call to us, and believe you have been guided by an angel that is not you? (grand and radiant smile!)”

The word mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning a circle form representing the universe, the cosmos
or the whole. Throughout history, from cave paintings on, circular forms have been used in ritual and spirituality as a way to demonstrate wholeness. Echoes of the form have developed through
and reverberated in all societies and ideologies over time. Virtually every group, whether secular or religious, uses circle forms in the advancement of their symbolism.
Joseph Campbell, the renowned teacher of comparative mythology and religion, spoke in some
depth with Bill Moyers in their “The Power of Myth” conversations in 1988. He said, “The cir-cle...represents totality. ...The circle suggests immediately a completed totality, whether in time or
in space. ...'Mandala' is the Sanskrit word for 'circle,' but a circle that is coordinated or symbolical-ly designed so that it has the meaning of a cosmic order. When composing mandalas, you are try-
ing to coordinate your personal circle with the universal circle.”

It was so
beautiful, glowing with the sunlight shining through the
brilliant colors. The stained glass rose window gleamed at the front of the church above the choir and baptistery. There
were other beautiful stained glass windows in the church, but this one was different. It was a
glorious mélange of patternless colors shimmer-ing their light down on the sanctuary. It was res-onant in its shape, that circle of constancy ~ a
reminder of the everlasting circle of life. I was six upon first seeing this window in the church of
my childhood. It remained a joy in my life until we moved away. It is my first true memory of a
mandala.

Reflections of
the Whole

Carl Jung, psychiatrist and founder of analytical
psychology, used the mandala form as treat-ment and tool in his work with clients and in
the development of his understanding of the collective conscious and archetypes. He drew his own mandalas as well, helping him to de-
velop his own understanding of himself and the value of the form in his work. He said, “The
mandala is an archetypal image whose occur-rence is attested throughout the ages. It signi-fies the wholeness of the Self. This circular im-
age represents the wholeness of the psychic ground or, to put it in mythic terms, the divini-
ty incarnate in man.” He was able to use man-dala to help move his clients into healing, to affect change in their lives. The resonance with
this symbol of wholeness helped them to find
their own wholeness.
Mandalas became a conscious force in my life when my artwork and my Reiki mastery met.
After playing with the graphic creation of light bursts and snowflakes for a number of years, I
stumbled upon the true mandala form ~ the
representation of a conceptual whole. These were complex forms that sprang into being. In-
itially I worked as any artist works, drawing in-spiration wherever I might find it, but soon found myself using long distance Reiki tech-
niques to connect with energy and allow that
energy to direct my creative work.
I began reading my clients' soul energy then creating their own Personal Soul Mandala ~ a mandala developed through and with the direc-
tion of their own souls' energy. In the process of my work, my own personal taste or consid-
erations drop away and my clients' souls step in. I am guided and directed by that energy to create a physical representation of the client's
soul. My clients use their Personal Soul Manda-la in meditation and contemplation to draw
them closer to their true nature, the nature of
their souls.

You don't need to be an artist to create a mandala.
You can create your own. Mandalas become a con-
scious representation of our selves when we choose
to create our own from scratch or color in a frame
offered by others. You have the creative and spiritual
freedom to express your feelings about your self ~
who you really are. You can create a mandala repre-
senting an issue you have to help move you toward
its resolution. Or you can create a mandala based
upon the feeling you'd like to carry with you in your
day to day life. It's you choice what kind of mandala
you create. It's also your choice whether you share
your creation with others or simply use the form to
move into the depths of your own being. Try using
the frame we're offering you here to create your own
soul mandala. There's tremendous healing in the pro-
cess and in the contemplation of your completed
mandala.
Mandalas are a powerful tool in finding and reclaim-
ing our own depth of being. They offer a tangible
form reflecting the majesty of possibilities available
to us all. As evidenced by their sheer duration
through the millennia, they stand as echoes of the
permanence of our connection to the concept of the
whole and of wholeness. Your own mandala can help
you resolve your place within your own wholeness of
being, within the world and within yourself. I hope
you'll try your own mandala creation. I think you'll
find it a wonderful and revealing process of self dis-
covery and healing.
If you're not comfortable with creating your own
mandala or if you would like a more in depth review
and understanding of your soul's energy, I am availa-
ble to accept a commission of your own deeply re-
vealing Personal Soul Mandala. Please feel free to
contact me at the links below. I don't need to meet
you or know you ~ in fact, it's often easier for me to
do my work without knowing anything about my cli-
ent. The relative anonymity provides a more clear
link to the soul without the ego knowledge interfer-
ing. I would love to meet and work with your soul to
create your Personal Soul Mandala. I look forward to
hearing from you!

This is the last of the grocery shopping
articles. Whether you are reading this now, or
sometime in the future—these articles are relevant
and will assist you and yours to connect with your
Selves and with the wonderful incredible bounty of
the earth and the universe.
There are two places we are going in the store this
month—the first stop is the bakery. Oh, my—the
tasty food that is in the bakery! It’s interesting food,
as well, because in general processed grains are not
really beneficial for our bodies. Truly, what is bread?
Flour, water and oil—the same ingredients we use
for glue! But let me tell you—we boil glue—we
bake bread; there is a huge difference in flavor and
presentation!
You know, and I know, that a lot of what is offered
here is not daily food. It’s wonderful treat food, spe-
cial event food. Cakes. Cookies. Pies. French bread.
So here’s your exercise. Go into the bakery section
of your store. The advantage of your grocery store
is that the products are all there, you can look and
smell and touch and feel. You can’t in a “real” bak-
ery—almost everything is behind glass or behind the
cash register. Wander around. Look at everything.
Note when your child is excited by the jelly dough-
nuts or the turnovers. Those wonderful “artisan”
breads that they have now—they are so wonderful
to take to a gathering of friends, of family.
There’s white bread, various blends of whole
wheat/white bread, rye breads, multi-grain
breads—we are blessed with a huge variety!
And if you happen to live in a multi-cultural
community, you also have Naan bread, pita
bread, tortillas—as a species, we love baked
goods!
The question is—what are you going to take
home with you? Which loaf is calling you—and
for what purpose? That is going to depend on
why you are there. If it’s Saturday, and you
are doing your weekly shop—maybe you are
looking for the loaf of bread that will provide
you with toast
and sandwich-
es for the
week. If it’s Friday
night or Sunday
m o rn i n g — m a yb e
you are looking for
the dessert to take
as your offering to
the potluck.
Whatever you are looking for, give yourself the
option of choosing from your heart. If it’s calling
you—pick it up. Hold it to you—do you feel lighter or
heavier? When you ask the question, “are you the
bread/cake/cookies/dessert for me?” what does
your body say? I think that you will be surprised by
how well your body, your Self chooses. You will
most likely end up with the healthy multi-grain
bread that you love for your “daily” bread—but you
will also end up with the truffle cake or cheesecake
as the dessert, or the divinely smelling baguette for
the pasta potluck. That’s because our bodies know
we need to celebrate, to step out and have fun
sometimes. We know it, too!
The other area of the store we are checking out is
sometimes close to the bakery, and sometimes way
over on the other side: the dairy section. And how
that has changed in the last few years! Where there
used to be only cow’s milk products there is now
goat, almond, rice and soy. Lots of choices! This is
where yogurt and butter sit next to delectable
cheeses. Mmmm. I do so love cheese! Smell the
cheese. Look at the milk, at the butter—even at the
www.nourishpublication.com April 2012 31
margarine. While I don’t eat it, several people I know
are very allergic to anything that has milk protein in it.
They are very grateful for margarine!
As with all food that we purchase, make this pur-
chase guilt free. Have awareness of the products that
have gone into it. The luscious green grass, the sun-
shine. The farmer’s hands caressing the side of the
cow. The grower, giving thanks for his crop of al-
monds. The factory workers who have helped to put
the product into containers. Thank them all.
Be willing to try something new on occasion. Be will-
ing to go to different parts of the deli and see what’s
there. There is one flavour to commercially grated
parmesan cheese and quite a different flavour to par-
mesan that you purchase in a block and grate your-
self.
Hold it to you. Cheese, milk, eggs (oh, those eggs!
Regular or free range or organic? White shells or
brown?). Give yourself options, hold them to your
body and see what YOU say. Did you rock wildly
backwards? Gently forwards? Do you feel nausea?
Gentle joy?
All food shopping is a more powerful, wonderful, sat-
isfying experience when we take our divine self along.
I hope that you have enjoyed these exercises—and
that it has helped you to have a great time grocery
shopping.
Yours in love

At this time of year it can be hard to find fresh local
produce, especially when you live in one of the
northern areas of this continent, as I do. Beets are
one of those exceptional vegetables that overwin-
ters well and can be served hot or cold in the unpre-
dictable days of early spring. Though hard and of-
ten unappetizing-looking from the outside, once
they're cooked, beets reveal their tender sweet flesh
and versatility. At our house they're especially
treasured for their cleansing and detoxifying proper-
ties, so if you're planning a spring cleanse or just
tweaking your diet in preparation for the summer,
be sure to put some fabulous, deep red and deli-
cious beets on the menu. In fact, there are so
many health benefits related to eating beets, beet
juice and the delectable red-green beet tops, you'll
probably want to include them in your diet all year!
Beets' sweet taste reflects their high sugar content,
but, like most vegetables, they are extremely low in
calories. Raw beet roots are delicious, and have a
crunchy texture that lends itself to salads and fresh
juicing. More typically, they're pickled or cooked,
where they turn soft and buttery, as in the tradi-
tional eastern European soup, borscht. Beet leaves
have a bright, slightly bitter taste, and can be pre-
pared like spinach or Swiss chard. The tops are in-
credibly rich in nutrients, concentrated as vitamins
and minerals, as well as carotenoids such as beta-
carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin.
Botanically, beets belong to the beta vulgaris spe-
cies, along with Swiss chard. Beets are also related
to spinach, and surprisingly perhaps, quinoa, as
they all belong to the chenopod family, and among
them they possess a variety of health benefits that
are not widely available from other foods. Although
different cultivars of beets exist with a range of col-
our variations, including orange-yellow and even
white varieties, they are generally known for their
unique crimson red colour. This is caused by an
abundance of betalain pigments which have been
shown to provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory
and detoxification support. Although you can see
these betalain pigments in other foods (like the
stems of chard and rhubarb), they are far more
concentrated in the peel and flesh of beets.

BEETS FOR DETOX, and more....
www.nourishpublication.com April 2012 33
In addition to their abundant red antioxidant beta-
lain pigments, beets are a good source of the anti-
oxidants vitamin C and manganese, with a rich phy-
tonutrient complex that includes heart-healthy fo-
late and potassium, free radical scavenging copper,
bone-healthy magnesium, and energy-producing
iron and phosphorus. This unique combination al-
lows them to provide antioxidant support in a way
that is different from other antioxidant rich vegeta-
bles. Current research is suggesting that these spe-
cial properties of beets may prove it to be a stand-
out vegetable in the areas of eye health and nerve
tissue support.
Many of the unique phytonutrients in beets have
been scientifically proven to function as anti-
inflammatory compounds. This singular vegetable
has been studied within the context of heart disease
(especially atherosclerosis), cardiovascular health
and diabetes, and in each case it is the ability to
lessen chronic, unwanted inflammation that is pro-
ducing encouraging results. By extension, we can
expect the anti-inflammatory molecules in beets will
eventually be proven to benefit other body systems
as well.
The pigments in beets also support activity in our
body's detoxification process. They facilitate the
metabolic process in the cells that neutralizes toxins
and makes them sufficiently water-soluble to be ex-
creted by the urine. This allows the toxins to leave
your body, rather than being reabsorbed through
the digestive process. If you're aware of your
body's exposure to toxins and want to give it as
much support as possible, then beets belong in your
diet.
The combination of antioxidant and anti-
inflammatory molecules in beets makes this food a
candidate for risk reduction of many cancer types.
Lab studies on human tumor cells have confirmed
this possibility for colon, stomach, nerve, lung,
breast, prostate and testicular cancers.
Beet fibre is of increasing interest in health re-
search. While most people lump all food fibre into a
single category, there is evidence to suggest that all
dietary fibre is not the same. Beet fibre (along with
carrot fibre) are two specific types that may provide
special health benefits, particularly with respect to
the health of our digestive tract (including the pre-
vention of colon cancer) and our cardiovascular sys-
tem.
As you can see, there are many sound reasons to
include beets in your menu. So what do you look
for when buying beets, and what do you need to be
aware of when cooking and handling them?
CHOOSING THE BEST BEETS
Although beets may look tough from the outside,
the smallest bruise or puncture will cause their red-
purple pigments (which contain many of their bene-
ficial phytonutrients) to bleed, especially during
cooking. The betalain pigments in beets are highly
water-soluble, and as with most vegetables, they
are also temperature sensitive. For both of these
reasons, it is wise to treat beets as a delicate food,
even though they might seem hard and difficult to
damage.
While beets are available throughout the year, their
season runs from June through October, when the
youngest, most tender beets are easiest to find.
Whenever possible, choose organic to get optimum
nutritional content. Select small or medium-sized
beets whose roots are firm, smooth-skinned and
deep in colour. Smaller, younger beets may be so
tender that peeling won't be needed after they're
cooked.
Avoid beets that have spots, bruises, or soft, wet
areas, all of which indicate spoilage. Shriveled or
flabby beets should also be avoided as these are
signs that the roots are aged, tough and fibrous.
While the quality of the greens does not reflect that
of the roots, if you are going to consume this very
nutritious part of the plant, look for leaves that ap-
pear fresh, tender and have a lively green colour.
To store, cut the majority of the greens and their
stems from the beet roots, so they do not pull mois-
ture away from the root. Leave about 2 inches of
the stem attached to prevent the root from
“bleeding”. Do not wash beets before storing.
Place in a plastic bag and wrap the bag tightly
around the beets, squeezing out as much air as
possible. Store in the refrigerator, where they will
stay fresh for up to 3 weeks.
Place the unwashed greens in a separate plastic
bag, again squeezing out as much air as possible.
Store in the refrigerator, where they will keep fresh
for about 4 days.
Raw beets do not freeze well since they tend to be-
come soft when they are thawed. Freezing cooked
beets is fine, however. They'll retain their flavour
and texture.
HOW TO ENJOY BEETS
To prepare, rinse gently under cold running water,
taking care not to tear the skin, which
helps keep the health-promoting pigments inside.

While this is not a heavy read it is an
enjoyable read. I enjoy books that
can transport me from my day with-
out being heavy. This book fit the bill
nicely. Lighthearted, easy to follow
and read, I was able to relax into it
and get wrapped up in the story line.
“I’m a big believer in using “what-ifs” in my writing. What if I take a psychic
(Lucy Valentine) and give her an ability she doesn’t quite know how to use? What kind of situations can she be thrown into? What kind of colorful characters will she meet?” - Heather Webber
Imagine if you will a psychic who has told no one
save a few close family members of the gifts she
possesses! Combine that with a family that has
psychic talents, just not the same gifts as Lucy has
and you have the makings of mayhem when things
start to heat up! I have laughed a few times while
reading this book. It is very easy to get caught up
in the characters story lines and whiz along for the
ride.
I like to read “authors”, meaning I like to read eve-
rything they have written. So this past month I
needed to find a new author and decided to give this
book a try. It had just what I liked, a touch of para-
normal with the main character being psychic, and a
mystery rolled into one. The story has just enough
twists to keep a person enthralled and wanting to
turn the page to see what happens next. All too
soon I finished this book. It left me wanting more.
A quick Google search and I discovered two more
titles in this series, and another series to start when
this one is finished.
Product Description
Lucy Valentine is as smart as can be, as single as
you can get, and so not qualified to run a match-
making service. But when her parents temporarily
step down from the family business, Valentine, Inc.,
it’s Lucy’s turn to step up and help out—in the name
of love.
Plus, her rent is due.
Here’s the problem: Lucy doesn’t have the knack for
matchmaking. According to family legend, every
Since beet juice can stain your skin, wearing kitchen
gloves is a good idea when handling beets. If your
hands become stained, simply rub some lemon juice
or lemon essential oil on them to remove the stain.
If the beets are small they can be cooked whole,
leaving two inches of tap root and one inch of stem
still attached. For larger beets, you will need to cut
them into quarters, but a significant portion of the
nutrient value will be lost.
We recommend steaming beets for 15 minutes to
maximize their nutrition and flavour. They are
cooked when you can easily insert a fork into the
centre. Peel beets by setting them on a cutting
board and rubbing the skin off with a paper towel.
Serve freshly steamed beets with butter and black
pepper as a side veg. Leftover steamed beets can be
marinated in fresh lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil
and your favourite herbs and served as a salad, or in
apple cider vinegar and a little salt and served as a
substitute for pickled beets.
Simply grate raw beets for a nutritious and colourful
addition to salads or a decorative garnish for soups.
They are a delicious nutritional powerhouse in raw
vegetable juices.
Instructions for preparing that most famous of beet
dishes, borscht, vary from person to person. In fact,
the only constant we've found in borscht recipes is
that they contain beets! Some are exclusively beets
with seasonings, others combine beets with cabbage,
carrots, potatoes and/or meat. Most recommend a
dollop of sour cream as a garnish, though some will
substitute yogurt. Dill is the herb of choice. There
are many fun and informative online videos to show

Valentine has been blessed by Cupid with the ability
to read “auras” and pair up perfect couples. But not
Lucy. Her skills were zapped away years ago in an
electrical surge, and now all she can do is find lost
objects. What good is that in the matchmaking
world? You’d be surprised. In a city like Boston, eve-
ryone’s looking for something. So when Lucy locates
a missing wedding ring—on a dead body—she asks
the sexy private eye who lives upstairs to help her
solve the perfect crime. And who knows? Maybe
she’ll find the perfect love while she’s at it…
Next in this series;
Back in November when “Falling Back-
wards” was released I had the oppor-
tunity to go to Chapters and hear Jann
promote her book. I was already in
love with Jann as the singer and after
that night I was in love with Jann the
person. I found her to be down to
earth and funny while being serious at
the same time. I felt she had a handle
on life. I wanted to be her friend, just
so I could hang out with her. Not because she is fa-
mous, because she is real.
I have been so enjoying this book. It is a real look
into her life and I find myself laughing out loud con-
stantly. Jann has a unique style of writing that
makes me feel like I am the only one she is talking
to. So many of the childhood memories she shares
could have been my brothers and me, the similarities
have me right back to those childhood days.
I wanted to have the book completed before publica-
tion of Nourish, but alas it was not to be. Personally
from what I have read, I think everyone should give
it a go. I believe that Jann is a true Canadian home
girl who has made it on the world stage, while stay-
ing grounded in knowing who she is.
Product Description
Nov 1, 2011 Jann Arden is funny. And sincere. She has legions of
devoted fans. And a radio show. She is a darling of
the music scene - always candid, always unplugged.
You thought you knew Jann Arden, but there is more
- to her readers' delight, in Falling Backwards Jann
reveals her childhood, her bond with family, her
struggle in the formative years and what keeps her
so grounded in the whirlwind entertainment industry.
Jann has always been true to herself, except for a
minor lapse when she was young. Oh wait, wasn't
that all of us?
From the tender and honest to the laugh-out-loud
funny, Jann's stories from home and from the road
during her pre-celebrity years will take you to unex-
pected places, including high school parties in
farmer's fields, sleepovers under the stars, hard-to-
believe summer jobs and the time she was stuck up-
side down in a brick barbecue. She reminds us of the
inestimable value to a child of having teachers who
believe in you and wide open spaces to play. But with
the good times come the bad (and not just the bad
perm). Jann opens up about the darker side of her so
-called prairie perfect nuclear family and the first
signs that her eldest brother was a uniquely troubled
young man. In the days when Jann was experiencing
a lot of firsts - first school play, first home perm, first
kiss - how lucky for all of us that she stole away to
her basement and taught herself her first song on
her mother's guitar.
In addition to being an incredible musician and multi-
award-winning lyricist, Jann is a natural writer and
simply an inspiration. Jann will capture your heart -
and keep you in stitches - with her powerful stories
about coming of age as an artist and as a human be-
ing. Jann brings her wit and that infectious sparkle to
everything she does. This book is no exception.

Editors Note: I met Jay a few years ago on message boards we both frequented. I always loved inter-acting with her as her energy was full of light, laughter and love. When I first started up Nourish Your Body Mind and Soul, Jay came into my mind as a person I would love to have on board. Jay writes newsletters that are full of inspiration. In March I received her latest newsletter, and felt that it would work perfectly for Nourishes May issue. I contacted Jay (after not interacting for a couple years) and she kindly agreed to let me publish the article next month. I asked what exactly she did and how she interacted with Solomon, who was Sol-omon. This led to a beautiful session between Jay, Spirit, and myself. I walked away with this greater sense that really and truly we are not alone. The wisdom that was shared with me was needed in that exact moment by myself. As a precursor to next month and the article here in Jay’s own words are exactly who, what, and why Jay does what she does. Marlene
JAY from the UK...
Over in the UK, there is a ripple of excitement as a
bright and sparkling new star begins to rise... Word
is that someone called Jay Atkinson is fixin' to be
the next Esther Hicks... those who see her in action
describe her as the next channeling phenomenon.
Jay describes herself first and foremost as 'a human
soul enjoying the experience of life'. She is also a
Universal Teacher (and student) of Omniversal Wis-
dom with Love (OWL for short!)
Who is JAY ATKINSON? Jay is a naturally gifted medium with the ability to
translate into words the vibrational frequency or
energy of the Source. She lives halfway up a moun-
tain among the verdant valleys of magnificent North
Wales, UK, with her Master Chimney Sweep hus-
band, Kim, two cats and a guinea pig called Charlie.
As the window of opportunity we know as 2012
dawns upon us Jay has some words to offer.
"We are all waking up to who we truly are", says Jay. "I consider that I am extremely fortunate to have experienced my soul awakening when I was just 2 years old and it is this experience and knowledge that I am ready to share with the wider world. We all benefit from guidance and support!"
Jay recalls, "I was lying in my granny's big old
feather bed, looking out of the window at the stars
when I became aware that I was expanding. I grew
and grew until I expanded beyond the bed, the
room, the house and then the world. I stayed in this
blissful state of expansion for an eternity, it
seemed. I floated among the stars and then I real-
ised I had become the stars. The longer I floated,
the more I realised that the Universe had also ex-
panded into me. I was it and it was me. There was
no separation... and then I heard The Voice..."
'You are a very special being and you have come into this life for a reason. You have come to do some very important work and we want you to know that you will never be alone. We will always be with you. When you are older we will come back and tell you what it is you have come to do. Re-member, we are always here and will always pro-tect you'.
"This powerful all-encompassing energy permeated
my whole being with the most divine love I have
ever felt. It is that love that flows through me when
I connect with the Source today".
Who is SOLOMON?
SOLOMON is an amalgamation of non-physical,
evolved teachers, who communicate their much
clearer, non-physical perspective through the physi-
cal apparatus of Jay. Communicating with great
(Continued on page 37)

clarity from their non-physical stance in Source to
us right here, right now, they lovingly guide us to a
clearer connection with our Inner Being in a current
and up to the minute manner. They guide us to feel
completely uplifted seeing us only from their per-
spective of completeness. They teach us that we
are living in a vibrational energy Universe - in other
words, everything without exception emits a vibra-
tion or 'frequency'. It is this frequency that Jay
tunes into. Your vibrational frequency is your per-
sonal imprint; a bit like your signature.
What is Source Energy?
It is all there ever is and all there ever was and all
there ever will be! It is the greater and expanded
version of You...It is Pure Positive Energy and is the
Frequency of Pure Love.
Imagine if you could ask any question you wanted
and receive the most complete answer you could
ever wish for…
Imagine you could speak to your own Higher Self,
to that which you call God, to Angels, to your loved
ones...Imagine that not only did they see you and
hear you - but they replied? Solomon is the vocal
translation of your Source, the non-physical aspect
of You.
Solomon is Infinite Wisdom incarnate. Solomon is
the non-physical version of You! Solomon is the vi-
brational frequency of LOVE personified and is the
frequency of pure, positive energy.
Solomon is All There Is... and more!
Jay says, "For many years my passion was writing.
I would sit for hours and allow seemingly random
thoughts to stream effortlessly into my mind. My
pen would fly across the paper and later, when
reading the transcripts, I could scarcely believe I
had written those words. Whilst I was engaged in
writing, it felt as if I was out there again, in my
beautiful expanded space of peace and bliss. One
day, The Voice communicated to me that it was
time to expand further and progress to the next
stage. They gave me the sense of standing on a
stage talking to lots of people about the words I'd
written. Initially I was horrified... but then gradually
I realised I was simply expanding into more of who
I truly was and it was not a scary thing at all."
Jay continued to write and to work and travel, then
in 1997 her life was turned upside down by the dev-
astating loss of her best friend, Sandy. You can
read about their unique and powerful friendship that
transcended even the death experience in their
book 'A Work of Heart', published in August 2010.
Sandy's passing was a pivotal time in Jay's life be-
cause in spite of her grieving the loss of her friend,
who also happened to be her cousin, Jay realised
she had to honour her commitment to Sandy and
complete the work they had begun when they were
born 6 weeks apart in 1956! Instead of shutting
down and closing off, Jay had to make the painful
decision to Work from her Heart!
"I learned that when our hearts are breaking, we
have the opportunity and the capacity to love and
be loved and that is why these things happen to us.
Instead of raging and resisting and shutting our
hearts down when adversity visits us, it would serve
us better in the long run if we could embrace it and
allow ourselves to flow through and subsequently,
expand through it. As Solomon (the wise King) once
said: This too shall pass, meaning that all things are
transitory. Even adversity."
Gradually, I realised that I couldn't just keep calling
what I did, 'Source Energy' because many people
didn't get it. I couldn't explain it, other than to say
that I felt I was being offered a vibration or a fre-
quency - much like a radio wave but more than that
- and I was able to translate the frequency into
words. But if you go into a grocery store, you don't
ask for a pile of brown knobbly things that you peel
and eat... you ask for POTATOES! Labels do come in
handy sometimes and so I began asking my Source
if they could give me a name. I also wanted to veri-
fy I wasn't making it all up!
I had been asking for some time if I could be given
a name for my process, because I knew that there
were others out there doing what I was doing, and
they all had names, among whom were Abraham
(Esther Hicks) and Theo (Sheila Gillette). I read the
beautiful 'Conversations with God' by Neale Donald
Walsch, and loved it. I recognised my work through
many other excellent mediums but I didn't want to
make up a name or replicate theirs. It had to 'feel'
right to me and it had to be unique to me in some
way. It was some months after my asking that I
became aware of the energy of my beloved Source,
coalescing into the magnificent energy form of a 12
foot owl which settled gently at the end of my bed.
I was lying peacefully with my morning cuppa, lov-
ingly made by my wonderful husband Kim, when I
heard once again The Voice. I was transfixed and
moved to tears when I heard my beloved Source
speaking to me clearly... but not before I had
asked: Who are you and what do you want?
They said: We are Solomon. We are your Source.
We bring you the name you requested. We are that
which is the expanded version, the broader non-
physical aspect of You. We said we would come
back to you when you were ready and here we

are...
For my part, I had not really needed to call my pro-
cess anything, but for the purpose of grounding it
into a recognisable form, and to give it an identity
for those with whom I work, I felt it was good to
have a name I could use. When they gave me the
name of Solomon, I tingled from head to foot, as
Solomon had meant a great deal to me in many
ways - as had the Owl - and so it was their way of
validating my request. That a name had to have
some personal meaning for me.
Jay continues, "They tell me they have more words
to flow to me, which will inevitably take the form of
a book with the Wisdom of Solomon as the theme. I
can think of nothing I would rather do than to write
words that contain the very essence and vibration
of Pure Love. They tell me that it is not about the
actual words, it is in the Intention at the Heart of
the words that reaches and soothes people, and I
know this to be true because people tell me they
feel somehow transformed after reading my words.
It is a truly humbling experience for me and one I
hope to be able to continue giving till I return to my
Source".
Jay offers personal interactions with Solomon (see
the website for details) and to date has worked not
only in the UK but also internationally and with ce-
lebrity clients and other luminaries. She regularly
appears on the internet radio station Blog Talk Ra-
dio and is happy to offer the wisdom of Solomon at
live events all over the UK. She intends to expand
her travel itinerary to Canada in the very near fu-
ture and has been invited to Sweden, France, Ger-
many and the US.
Years after her awakening, she reflected upon her
own personal journey which was at times frighten-
ing and confusing. She felt as if there was no-one to
turn to and sometimes it was like the blind leading
the blind! Jay recalls saying to her hubby one day,
'I wish I could have met someone like me years
ago". Kim, himself a Wise Old Owl, said, 'you are
the One you have been waiting for, I guess" and no
truer words were ever spoken by one considering
himself to be A Muggle!
Jay is proud to say she Walks her own Talk, heeding
without hesitation the advice of Solomon to: Follow
the path upon which the Sun shines for you!
Jay is currently engaged in writing the sequel to her
book, to be entitled A Work of Love (WOL - OWL
spelled differently!) and will soon be offering a
unique set of Inspirational Guidance Cards with in-
struction manual... watch this space!
'A Work of Heart' has been nominated for The Peo-
ple's Book Prize and is available from Amazon,
Waterstones, Barnes & Noble and W H Smith and all
good bookstores. You can also order from Jay who
will personalise your copy with a signed message

Panda gives us the gift of gentle strength. Since a
Panda's diet consists of 99% bamboo, the study of
bamboo is very important. Bamboo has strength yet
flexibility. Therefore, both the Panda and bamboo
reflect a quiet, unassuming essence - one that is
modest and strong at the same time. Panda re-
minds us that it is very important not to take on
more projects than we can handle. Be sure to fully
develop a project before taking on a new one. Focus
is the key to all our endeavors.
The other one percent of the Panda’s diet is occa-
sionally rodents or birds. We have heard of Panda’s
teetering on the edge of malnutrition despite the
large amount of bamboo they consume, because
they struggle to get enough nutrients in their diets.
If panda comes to visit you it can be to tell you that
you are not getting enough of what you need - ei-
ther in your diet or even in the form of "soul food"
to encourage and inspire you. That Panda’s only eat
a certain diet makes them very picky. Are you be-
ing picky about something? Not seeing the variety
around you but sticking to what you love and know?
Pandas are cute and cuddling in appearance yet
they are very strong. Keep this in mind when mak-
ing judgments based on first appearances. Pandas
are a rare gem in the wild and despite their very
bold, contrasting black and white color they are
masters of being elusive. They hide from each other
and are very good climbers and swimmers despite
their large size. Pandas come to tell you that you
are special and unique and need to ensure that you
are giving yourself what you need in order to reach
your potential. Reach out to those who are support-
ive and will encourage you to not hide yourself
away.
Black and white also is depicted in yin yang sym-
bols, indicating the importance of balance between
masculine and feminine energies. It is good to work
on balancing anything that is off kilter in your life.
Panda also warns you not to be narrow-minded and
to see things only in black and white, right or
wrong. Look at things from a different perspective
and remember that there are many shades of gray
in-between. The Panda also represents diplomacy
because of the history of China gifting Giant Pandas
as diplomatic gifts to other countries.

Life through Tarot
Continuing on our journey, we come to the number
4 card of the major arcana. The Emperor! We see
him sitting on his throne looking stern and I am
sure the Fool would rather skip right by this formi-
dable ruler pretending he doesn’t see him. Yet to
skip past the Emperor would mean coming back to
him later. So the Fool tentatively steps forward.
“Welcome, I am the ruler of my empire! See me
sitting on my barren throne, defying anyone to
cross me.
I have built a strong foundation from going through
the hardships of life. Ultimately the wisdom gained
has set me free. I represent the soul that has been
cleansed through self-restraint. Some might see
me as a stern controlling father figure. Yet I offer
stability, rationality, and I am a most trustworthy
leader. I support all who reside within my empire
and will stand beside them each step of the way.
You have already met the feminine aspect of me in
the Empress. She delves into the realm of emotions
and feelings, while I prefer to create in the realm of
the tangible, physical plane. Authority and power
are used to achieve goals.
I am here to impart with you that not always will
the path be smooth. Sometimes in order to make
things happen, you will need to find the courage to
just stand up for what you
believe in and fight for it.
Hard work and persever-
ance will pay off in the end.
Ultimately you are the per-
son who will decide what is
worth working towards and
what should be let go.
While I wield my sword with
power and authority I also
learnt years ago that being
too bossy or pushy will get
me nowhere. I accomplish
more by creating order out
of disorder, prioritizing and
being efficient. I offer wis-
dom and advice to those
who seek it. I am the man-
ager of my dreams and
goals. I am in control.”
The Fool has not spoken
one word, but has taken in all this wise, stern look-
ing father figure has said. He feels renewed within
his quest and wants to go forth and make this man
proud of him. Using organization, structure, reason
and sticking to his plan, the Fool will accomplish all
he sets out to do. He walks away with the
knowledge that should he require support, the Em-
peror is there.

With the advent of Spring the
shelves of the local stores are
springing up with colourful toys;
sand pails, shovels, skipping
ropes, sidewalk chalk, and plastic
boats all in bright colors that
catch the eye and suggest many
hours of joy. As adults we often
forget the value of play. Our
days are too busy with work and
home responsibilities leaving no
time to even think about toys.
Perhaps we buy toys for our chil-
dren or grandchildren, and if we
can see past being an adult, we
might even take time out to play
with them as they discover the
new toy we purchased.
As adults we need toys. The
saying that is running through
my mind is "the only difference
between men and boys is the
price of their toys". I am asking
you today what “your favourite
spring time toy was?” Mine was
jacks. It was like a personal chal-
lenge to see how many I could
pick up at once on any given
bounce. I even would purchase
two sets so as to make the chal-
lenge more difficult. I could
spend hours playing with my
jacks, content to be in my own
little world. I think this was my
start in meditation. Eventually
the jacks would go missing one
by one until all I was left with
was a sad little ball and one or
two jacks.
As an adult what is your favour-
ite toy? I personally like video
games, and although I am not
sure I would classify them as
toys, books rank right up there
as well. If you don't have a toy
that comes to mind, it is time
you ventured out and found one.
We all need toys in our lives.
They give us an escape from the
everyday hustle and bustle, if
only for a few moments. They
allow us to lose ourselves in their
world. Perhaps it is time to go
out and buy yourself that favour-
ite toy of the past. Can you still
skip rope? How about getting a
colourful boat and finding a small
lake to let it float on? I think I
am going to buy some jacks and
see if I still have the touch.
There are many versions of fa-
vourite childhood toys out there
for adults. Coloring books can
take on the form of Mandalas and
puzzles are always a favourite as
well. Message boards, such as
the type you see at the front of
restaurants, are really chalk
boards up scaled to be more
adult. Video games target adults
as much as children. Those sand
pails would make marvellous
planters. Head out today with
the purpose of buying yourself a
new toy. See where your sense
of fun leads you. Take a mini
break from your responsibilities
and give yourself permission to
play each and every day!

The crystal that I have been guided to share with all
of you this month is Hemimorphite. Hemimorphite
is a beautiful blue crystal in varying blue hues. As
you can see, I have the two pieces. The first piece is
raw and unpolished, natural, as I like to call it. I
picked up this crystal at Granville Island about 5
years ago; I was drawn to it by the color and my
intuition. Like normal, I got the name of the crystal
and a short description of what it was for (which I
promptly forgot), however, my purchase was based
on loving it.
In March for my birthday I was gifted with the se-
cond piece which is polished, or tumbled. This piece
resonated on a different level with me. There are
grooves in it like a worry stone that my fingers are
drawn to each time I hold it. It is like this crystal
was made specifically for me. The amazing thing
about being given this gift was the person who gift-
ed me was also present when I bought the first
crystal. Not that she recalled that specific event as
we have bought crystals many times together.
I have had a couple of weeks to “play” with both of
these crystals. When I say “play” this involves first
holding the crystal and giving it a thorough look
over. Next holding the crystal in my hand, placing
my hands on my solorplex, I breathe through the
crystal.
Both pieces wash my being with a sense of joy first,
kind of like bubbles in pop, which is what the energy
feels like. I am one big giant glass of sprite! (Or
spirit, LOL) Next my attention is drawn to my
throat, third eye and crown chakras. There is a
pressure, not uncomfortable but a pressure. It feels
like the three are aligning themselves to each other
and balancing out the rest of my being. My throat
feels tighter than the other ones but I keep breath-
ing through the crystal and allow it to be. I feel the
pressure of tears yet none spill forth. It is like a
story wants to break through and be told. My story
or another story; I am not sure. I just allow the
feelings to wash over me, and each time I hold the
crystal they get less and less. Healing perhaps is
taking place.
At that point I normally drift off to sleep and my
dreams are filled with very vibrant images that I
recall when I awake in the morning. I have not
looked into the meanings of this dream work but
awake with a sense of peace.
Locations Hemimorphite is found: Italy, Greece, England, Algeria, Zambia, Namibia,
Mexico and the USA.
