THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

TRUST IN JESUS

Today's feast celebrates another central mystery of our faith--the mystery of the Eucharist. Like the mystery of the Trinity, the real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist can never be fully understood, but can only be believed.

Just as the Israelites in the desert were invited to put their trust in God's word to them, we are invited to trust wholly in the word of Jesus. In today's Gospel Jesus promises to give us a share in his very own flesh and blood, and a share in eternal life besides. We are called to take him at his word and open our hearts to receive true nourishment and life from our participation in the Eucharist.

YOU’RE INVITED TO OUR “GET TO KNOW US” WELCOME GATHERING

For new members of our Parish Family and for those who simply want to know more!

On Sunday, July 2, at 11:30am (after 10:30 Mass), grab a doughnut and coffee in the gathering space, then join our informal gathering in the “Upper Room.” Or stop by and see us before the 12:15 Mass. Either way, it will be a great opportunity for us to get to know you, and to introduce you to our priests, some of our staff, and a few of our parish ministry members. Children are welcome! Questions? Please contact Jean Pankow at 973-538-1358, ext. 122.

LOVING ATTENTION NEEDED!

If you're someone who loves and appreciates the beauty of our worship space each time you attend a liturgy here at Notre Dame, we could really use your help. Our Altar Linens Ministry - the wonderful, dedicated helpers who ensure our altar linens are laundered and folded each week - is in urgent need

of helping hands. Ministers serve on a rotating basis each week so that it does not become burdensome for anyone. If you think you might be able to help, or if you'd like to know more of the specifics, please contact Agnes Loughlin at 973-539-9524 or [email protected].

WE ARE HOSTING A LUNCHEON FOR THE HOMELESS: CAN YOU HELP?

Our Parish Nurse Ministry, in partnership with Mental Health Association of Morris County, is hosting a luncheon for the homeless, Saturday, June 24, 2017. We would appreciate any donations of appetizers or desserts for this event. We will be feeding approximately 50 people. If you would be able to contribute, please contact Shirley Bergen at 973-652-6164 / [email protected]. Donations may be dropped off downstairs in the kitchen on Friday afternoon/evening, or on Saturday, by 10:30am. Thank you for your generosity to our brothers and sisters in Christ!

SENIOR LUNCHEON REMINDER

Tomorrow, Monday, June 19, 2017 following our 12:10pm Mass.

We look forward to seeing you!

*Please note that this will be our last luncheon for this ministry year. We will resume with our

awesome luncheon gatherings on Monday, September 18!

POPE FRANCIS’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JUNE 2017

“It is an absurd contradiction to speak of peace, to negotiate peace, and at the same time, promote or permit the arms trade. Is this war or that war really a war to solve problems or is

it a commercial war for selling weapons in illegal trade and so that the merchants of death get rich? Let us put an end to this situation. Let us pray all together that national leaders may firmly commit themselves to ending the arms trade which victimizes so many innocent people.” - Pope Francis

WOMEN'S GUIDED MEDITATION

Women of our faith community, please join us for our Women's Guided Meditation, an

opportunity to refresh your spirit and strengthen your faith. We will meet

Wednesday, June 21, 7:30-8:30pm in our Resource Room. Bring a friend!

WILL YOU BE REGISTERING YOUR CHILDREN FOR THE 2017-2018 FAITH FORMATION YEAR?

Many of you may be aware that once each month I have been sharing a new vision and mission for our parish at weekend Masses since last December. In light of the new focus and direction for our parish, we are delighted to announce important changes to our Faith Formation program. These modifications are a first step as we embrace the new vision of our parish and will impact our elementary, middle and high school levels. Because it is important you are aware of these changes, we will hold 3 parent meetings to give everyone the opportunity to be informed about the new vision and mission of our parish, the changes to our Faith Formation program in terms of goals, content and scheduling, and the reasoning behind them. It will also be an opportunity to share your thoughts and ask questions. The meetings will take place in the parish hall on:

Tuesday, June 20 from 7-8:30pm Sunday, June 25 from 3:30-5pm Monday, June 26 from 7-8:30pm

The staff and I are excited about sharing our new parish vision with you!

FATHER’S DAY PRAYERS

In gratitude for my Father…

Dear God, the Father of us all, I thank you for my father. Along with my mother, through the marvel of your creation, my father gave me the gift of life itself. He was such a good teacher and mentor, such a wonderful example of how to live a life of faith. Please take care of him now and be generous with him as you prepare him for the rewards of eternal life you have prepared for him. For a father who was difficult…

God of Love, I come before you to pray for my father. You know how much he suffered and you alone fully know how much was wounded and broken in him. I feel so sad, and at times I feel so angry, so cheated, because I couldn't have a good relationship with him. I don't want to spend the rest of my life resenting my father, so I turn to you to hold him up to you. I know you are a God of mercy. Forgive him and heal him. Please let that forgiveness touch my heart as well. I want to forgive him and know the peace of letting go of those hurts - or at least the peace of not letting them continue to hurt me. I pray for him because I want what is best for him. I want him to know you and to know your love for him. One day, in your loving embrace, may all the wounds in his heart be healed. For a father who has died…

Father of Life, I thank you for my father. He was such a blessing to me while he was still with us. I still miss him so much. I thank you for what he left me as gifts of love and faith. I pray that he has enjoyed your embrace and that the relationship he and I have now might someday be renewed with you in heaven. Until then, I entrust him to your love and ask you to let him look out for me and to assist me to stay on the path to you.

CENTERING PRAYER: JOIN US!

Quiet reminds us that not all knowledge can be packaged into words, sentences, and speeches. Certainly, centering needs to be anchored in a

spiritual life that includes many different types of prayer, but centering prayer is a uniquely deeper

dive into our relationship with Jesus. (from St. Anthony Messenger).

Centering Prayer is way of stilling our thoughts so that we can reflect on the gospel in our minds and hear God's words in our hearts. Our parish has two groups, open to all, that meet Thursdays at 10:30 am and Tuesdays at 7 pm in the Upper Room off the Gathering Place. Please join us for an hour of peace and faith-sharing. We welcome everyone!
