Madrina Productions Inc. would like to provide some information to help you prepare for our arrival and anticipate how our activity might affect your daily routine. The Godmother is a drama that takes place in the 1970s in Miami. We will be filming two sequences at Hamilton Village Mall. The first sequence takes place at the east end of the Mall property adjacent to the former bank building. This scene involves a car driving towards the parking spaces in front of the bank building. Two occupants get out, unload some bags and walk towards the front door of the bank where they engage in some conversation with a third man. During the filming of this scene, traffic control will be in place for safety at the far east end of the mall parking lot. We will then move to the far west end of the shopping centre for our second primary sequence. This is a stunt scene of a “liquor store robbery”. For this scene, a truck will pull up outside the former “Sun Sun Garden” (this sign will be covered with a different fictional name) storefront. The occupants exit the rear of the vehicle with replica weapons and fire at the front window of the shop. We will have specialty glass installed in advance of filming that will shatter safely. The “robbers” then enter the store and fire their weapons at the store occupants. They then run back out and re-enter the truck. The truck will then drive north and away from the storefront. We will then film an “aftermath” scene with an actor portraying a reporter covering the story for a television camera. There will be police vehicles and an ambulance parked in front of the store for our filming of this last scene. During the filming of our afternoon scenes, replica automatic weapons and simulated gunfire will be used. Traffic control will be in place for safety at the far west end of the mall parking lot. We will have a member of the Richmond RCMP on site with us for the duration of our work at Hamilton Village Mall. To reduce our impact on the area, our large production vehicles and crew cars will be parked outside the filming area. Our essential work vehicles will be parked at the east and west ends of the Mall parking lot. For safety, the filming areas and parking adjacent to the filming areas will be flagged off. Parking stalls in the centre part of the lot will be reserved for mall patrons. We will ensure any residents with special needs are accommodated promptly. Should you require parking within the signed areas or if you have any other questions or concerns, please contact me at our Production Office, at 778-730-0101. While we are in the neighbourhood you can talk to the Assistant Location Manager, Kelly McKeigan, who will be on set. General information about filming in the City of Richmond is available through the City’s Film Office at 604-247-4689 or Creative BC, at 604-732-2732. Sincerely, Heather Vedan Location Manager Madrina Productions Inc.
